Google search not grouping keywords properly

When is a 'Repair' not a 'Repair'...? When it's a "Service" (... cue rapturous applause and laughter!)
We run an air conditioning website and we have recently noticed that Google is assuming the keyword "Repair" also means "Service".
For example if you type in (in the UK) "Air Conditioner Repair" the first page of Google it puts the word "Service" in bold. E.g:
1. Check this before calling for air conditioner service - YouTube
2. Halfords Autocentres| Air Conditioning Service for all car makes and
3. Service Your Air Conditioner for Summer Comfort « Sustainable
Now... why do I find this annoying. I had a amicable dispute with a colleague last year before all of this happened.
I noticed that our Google Adwords campaign was showing a high bounce rate for our /air_conditioning_service page. He explained to me that if someone wanted and 'air conditioning service' it was because they wanted their air conditioning fixed / cleaned etc.
My argument was that a fair few of the people bouncing off were actually looking for a company to provide a service (of air conditioning) that they were looking for.
We split the page in half (half linking through to a repair page and the other half to a page about the service that we offer) and ran a test against the original.
I was only expecting a small percentage of people to click on the new option we had added to the page, however, the difference was far greater than ever expected. It was a 60/40% split in favour of the new option not people wanting their aircon repaired/serviced!
So in conclusion... very annoyingly, Google is recognising my service page rather than my far more relevant repair page, and there seems to be nothing I can do about it (other than make my service page more relevant)
Rant over... but has anyone else experienced anything similar?
Is there anything you can do about it?

I am actually not sure of the answer to this question. Typically if the algorithm has detected a pattern like that, it's for a reason. The only thing I can recommend is to build a page to satisfy both intents. Have an air conditioning service page that speaks to people wanting air conditioning and those looking for repair. Then have a child page for repair that you can link to with more information on that aspect.

I've noticed something similar, we have a range of products that are 'Made to measure' but based on a standard design, but we also have a service where we manufacture bespoke designs - i.e. send a picture of sketch and we can provide a price and ultimately make it.
Google is now seeing 'Made to measure' and 'bespoke' as one and the same.
I wonder the same thing - is there anything I can do about it!

Optimizing for close keyword variants
I am planning my seo project using Moz tools. I am finding keywords that are close to each other. What is the best way to optimize? If I made a page for each of the close words, it would pretty much be duplicate content. Is it best to go ahead and make a page for each and try to make content a bit different? How different does it have to be? Or, would i try to use the different versions of the keyword on one good page. Thank you!

Does Anchor Text in Links Count When Google Looks at Overall Keywords on the Page?
So, on our site, we have a list of related blog posts on a page that focuses on bamboo flooring. These blogs posts have anchor text like "What's the best bamboo flooring?" "How to install bamboo flooring." "Yada yada bamboo flooring yada." Because the main keyword for the page is bamboo flooring, would the presence of these words within anchor text on the page be considered as keywords on the bamboo flooring page, affecting that page and possibly stuffing within that page?

How accurate is Googles Keyword Planner?
I did some keyword research for our company. Some of the terms we got 100,000 search volume for in 2011 now have only 90 monthly searches. I am doing exact match for both US and Global and neither are any where near those high of numbers. Now I can't say how the old report on this was done but we are all a little skeptical of these numbers. Is there any other tool out there for search volume on Google? The Moz tool while it lists Google as an option only does Bing. Thank you!

What's the difference between broad and exact match in Google's keyword research tool?
The exact match option shows you much smaller numbers. And Google's explanation of each isn't comprehensive. Can someone explain the difference between the two with examples? Also, which one is it better to target while doing SEO research?
