Noindex, rel=cannonical, or no worries?

Hello, SEO pros,
We need your help with a case ↓
Introduction:
Our website allows individual contractors to create a webpage where they can show what services they offer, write something about themselves and show their previous projects in pictures. All the professions and services assigned accordingly are already in our system, so users need to pick a profession and mark all services they provide or suggest those which we missed to add.
We have created unique URLs for all the professions and services. We have internal search field and use a autocomplete to direct users to the right page.
**Example: **
PROFESSION
Carpenter (URL: /carpenters )
SERVICES
Decking (URL: /carpenters/decking)
Kitchens (URL: /carpenters/kitchens)
Flooring and staircases (URL: /carpenters/flooring-and-staircases)
Door trimming (URL: /carpenters/door-trimming)
Lock fitting (URL: /carpenters/lock-fitting)
Problem
We want to be found by Google search on all the services and give a searchers a list of all carpenters in our database who can provide a service they want to find.
We give 15 contractors per page and rank them by recommendations provided by their clients.
Our concern is that our results pages may be marked as duplicate since some of them give the same list of carpenters. All the best 15 carpenters offer door-trimming and lock-fitting. So, all the same 15 are shown in /carpenters, /carpenters/lock-fitting, /carpenters/door-trimming.
We don't want to be marked as spammers and loose points on domain trust, however we believe we give quality content since we gave what the searchers want to find - contractors, who offer what they need.
**Solution? **
- Noindex all service pages to avoid duplicate content indexed by Google
OR
- rel=canonical tag on service pages to redirect to profession page.
e.g. on /carpenters/lock-fitting page make a tag rel=canonical to /carpenters.
OR
- no worries, allow Google index all the professions and services pages. Benefits of indexing it all (around 2500 additional pages with different keywords) is greater than ttagging service pages with no index or rel=canonical and loosing the opportunities to get more traffic by service titles.
We need a solution which would be the best for our organic traffic
Many thanks for your precious time.

I would recommend:
If the page content is truly that similar to the the others, I'd recommend using the rel=canonical tag on service pages to point to the profession page as the authoritative page
OR
Add enough unique content to the service pages to allow them to not appear as non-duplicate. This would involve either having your in-house team developing useful content or forcing your users to enter a paragraph of text that would only be used on those service pages.
OR
Last resort, you could noindex the service pages to avoid duplicate content indexed by search engines. If you noindex, you will have more control over which pages you are telling the search engines are most important.

In my opinion the best option for your organic traffic is to try and keep the service pages. The caveat is that you need to substantially differentiate the content. You should brainstorm options with your team but some ideas that come to mind are obviously changing title tags ,adding some service specific descriptions to the top of those pages, incorporating some unique service specific video, add links to service specific DIY/Guide/Warnings/Other related educational pre-sales material.
If that becomes too much work for this phase of the project my next suggestion would be rel=canonical back to the profession page. Ensure your profession page is designed in a way that makes filtering to the service level the obvious call to action and you should be fine. This will hinder your ability to target all of those service level keywords with service level URL's but you could still create content around those niches and drive links back to the profession page.
Hope this helps

Should I noindex my categories?
Hello! I have created a directory website with a pretty active blog. I probably messed this up, but I pretty much have categories (for my blog) and custom taxonomy (for different categories of services) that are very similar. For example I have the blog category "anxiety therapists" and the custom taxonomy "anxiety". 1- is this a problem for google? Can it tell the difference between archive pages in these different categories even though the names are similar? 2- should I noindex my blog categories since the main purpose of my site is to help people find therapists ie my custom taxonomy?

My Search Rankings Are In FreeFall Since Last One Month. Should I Be Worried?
My site www.midigital.co until the 10th of December, 2015 was ranking more or less in the top 10 for 92 Keywords most of them 1 word and 2 word, built upon over 10 years of SEO and optimization (all ethical). Since that time however it's like Google's decided that we didn't belong there and all the rankings are in free fall. The only change was that we updated our Wordpress Version. Nothing else was changed. Links were same as always. My organic traffic figures have fallen 99%, many KWs have been buried beyond 51+ and because of that client's queries we got have virtually disappeared. PPC helps but it's not Organic. Should I be Worried or is it just more Google Dance?

302 to a page and rel=canonical back to the original (to preserve url juice)?
Bit of a weird case, but let me explain. We use unbounce.com to create our landing pages, which are on a separate sub-domain (get.domain.com).
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | dragonlawhq
Some of these landing pages have a substantial amount of useful information and are part of our content building strategy (our content marketers are able to deploy them without going through the dev team cycle). We'd like to make sure the seo page-juice is counting towards our primary domain and not the subdomain.
(It would also help if we one day stop using unbounce and just migrate our landing page content to our primary website). Would it be an SEO faux-pas to do the following:
domain.com/awesome-page ---[302]---> get.domain.com/awesome-page
get.domain.com/awesome-page ---[rel=canonical]---> domain.com/awesome-page My understanding is that our primary domain would hold all the "page juice" whilst sending users to the unbounce landing page - and the day we stop using unbounce, we just kill the redirect and host the content on our primary domain.0 -
Rel=canonical on pre-migration website
I have an e-commerce client that is migrating platforms. The current structure of their existing website has led to what I would believe to be mass duplicate content. They have something north of 150,000 indexed URLs. However, 143,000+ of these have query strings and the content is identical to pages without any query string. Even so, the site does pretty well from an organic stand point compared to many of its direct competitors. Here is my question: (1) I am assuming that I should go into WMT (Google/Bing) and tell both search engines to ignore query strings. (2) In a review of back links, it does appear that there is a mish mash of good incoming links both to the clean and the dirty URLs. Should I add a rel=canonical via a script to all the pages with query strings before we make our migration and allow the search engines some time to process? (3) I'm assuming I can continue to watch the indexation of the URLs, but should I also tell search engines to remove the URLs of the dirty URLs? (4) Should I do Fetch in WMT? And if so, what sequence should I do for 1-4. How long should I wait between doing the above and undertaking the migration?

Canonical and Rel=next/prev Implementation
Hi, I have an ecommerce site that allows users to view numerous pages and sort by a number of options on categories. I've read numerous posts around my issue but am still a little confused on what is best practice with regards to the canonical tag and rel=next and prev. Below is an example of the various page/sort by URL's: Paginated URL: http://www.example.co.uk/category/subcategory.html?p=3 Sort by URL: http://www.example.co.uk/category/subcategory.html?dir=desc&order=price Paginated & Sort by URL: http://www.example.co.uk/category/subcategory.html?dir=desc&order=price&p=3 It is not viable for us to use a canonical tag to the view all page as some of the categories contain a large number of products and therefore would not have the best load speeds. Is it best to use the below structure when it comes to the canonical tag and rel=next and prev? Paginated URL: http://www.example.co.uk/category/subcategory.html?p=3 Sort by URL: http://www.example.co.uk/category/subcategory.html?dir=desc&order=price Paginated & Sort by URL: http://www.example.co.uk/category/subcategory.html?dir=desc&order=price&p=3 http://www.example.co.uk/category/subcategory.html?dir=desc&order=price&p=2" /> Thanks

Why should I add URL parameters where Meta Robots NOINDEX available?
Today, I have checked Bing webmaster tools and come to know about Ignore URL parameters. Bing webmaster tools shows me certain parameters for URLs where I have added META Robots with NOINDEX FOLLOW syntax. I can see canopy_search_fabric parameter in suggested section. It's due to following kind or URLs. http://www.vistastores.com/patio-umbrellas?canopy_fabric_search=1728 http://www.vistastores.com/patio-umbrellas?canopy_fabric_search=1729 http://www.vistastores.com/patio-umbrellas?canopy_fabric_search=1730 http://www.vistastores.com/patio-umbrellas?canopy_fabric_search=2239 But, I have added META Robots NOINDEX Follow to disallow crawling. So, why should it happen?
