Article Backlinks To Product Pages

I am writing a number of 500 word articles and have read that Top 10 lists are becoming more and more popular on the web. So my thoughts are to write an article about the the 'Top 10 Mens Grooming Products 2013' for example.
My questions is - do I post this article on my own website with the 10 links to the product pages using the product name as 'anchor text', or post the article to somewhere like Squidoo containing the links to my product pages.
Which strategy has more SEO value?

I agree with what Tom said.
It depends on your website. If it doesn't have much traffic then you're better off posting on Squidoo or guest posting. Alternatively you could leave it on your own website and look for ways to promote it by reaching out to bloggers

If you can market it properly so that people will share it, posting it on your own blog will have considerably more value.
You could post it elsewhere as a guest blog, which would get you 1 or 2 backlinks (although you should be doing it to connect with an audience, not just for links) and that's all.
Conversely, putting it on your site could help the post accrue a number of links and social shares over time directly to your root domain. This in turn will help every page on your site.
Marketing the blog post will be harder and longer, but achievable. You could, for example, egobait the company that you ranked number 1 into mentioning it on their site or social media channels.

Hi all, We've just started looking into backlinks for our website, and we're...a bit overwhelmed to say at least. We thought the best way to start with backlinks is to reach out to our industry partners, and ask them to put a link to our website on theirs (in a blog, or a relevant page of course), as it's relevant for users. Do links from the second page of an article pass link juice?
I have been writing for some sites with a high overall page rank and the articles are being viewed as quality by search engines as well. However, they usually put a link to my site at the very end of the article and then break the article down into two pages to increase ad revenue. It seems that I'm not getting much credit for that link even if the page has a high SEOmoz/PR score. I want to know if I am getting the benefit from these links. If not, how do I make sure I get the most bang, even if my link is on a second page of the article? Youtube Backlink
We've had our Youtube Channel fairly optimized for several months now. Part of that effort includes the link back to our site which is allowed on Youtube. When doing link research I see Youtube links being given credit to competitors but haven't seen Youtube show up in backlinks reports for our site yet. Is there any way to speed this up? Our Youtube page with the link has been indexed and a cached version of the page is in Google's SERPs. If there are any tricks to getting this going that anyone is aware of I'd like to hear it. *The link on Youtube returns a 200 and is followable. I'm using the SEOMOZ tool and Open Site Explorer to do backlinking research.
