Closed Address Google Local
-
While there are some older conversations pertaining to Google Local/Plus, I am not sure if issue is a bit different.
The company I work for at one time had two locations.
Both are brick & mortar, physical locations. The factory closed several years ago.
To my surprise, the old location is coming up in a few Google searches as a Google Plus page (actually just located it toward the end of last week.) It is currently unclaimed.
There are a handful of citations out on the web as well.
To remove the factory listing (the one we don't want, which I am pretty sure is confusing Google), what is the best approach?
-
Remove/update citations for the old listing?
-
And then claim it and suspend it using our Google Places account?
It took a while to claim the listing we actually want and I just want to be sure we handle removing the old one correctly.
Any insight or advice is appreciated!

Hi Miriam,
I appreciate the response and will read through the suggested article. Thanks for listing out the steps as well.

Hi SEOSponge,
Totally agree, the process for this is confusing, and Google has change its 'mind' several times in just the last few months. Right now, the approved procedure for a business that moves is simply to edit the existent listing to reflect the new data. Read this:
http://blumenthals.com/blog/2013/02/20/google-local-moving-locations-new-procedure/
And, in a situation like yours, Google And Your Business Forum Top Contributor Mike Blumenthal recommends:
1)You need to mark the other locations as closed and reference the new G+Local page and new address in the comment field
2)You need to change the bad data at the primary list providers
3)You need to change the data every place else that you can find it.
4)Be sure that there no (none, zero, zip) references to the old addresses on the websiteYou'll see that advice in the comments of the post I've linked to. Think this is the right way for you to go. Hope this helps!

Google crawl drop
the crawl request of my company site: https://www.dhgate.com/ has dropped nearly over 95%, from daily 6463599 requests to 476493 requests at 12:00am on 9th, Oct (GMT+8). This dramatic dropping trend not only showed in our GSC crawl stats report but also our company's own log report. We have no idea what’s going on. We want to know whether there is an update of google about crawlling, or is this the issue of our own site? If something is wrong with our site, in what aspects would you recommend us to check, analyze and accordingly optimize?

Is the Google results serp broken?
Hi everyone! We've been trying to decipher how many of our pages are indexed by google at the moment. If we do the usual "site:https://www.hobbydb.com" search term, the serp says that we have more than 740,000 pages indexed. However, when I do a deep dive and click through to the last page of results, I can only get to page 54, and then there are no more results. This would mean that I only have 540 pages indexed, not 740,000. We have also done other queries for other sub-sections of our website, and the results also truncate at 50 pages. Has anyone run into this problem? Any suggestions are appreciated! Best, Alex

IP address geolocation
I would classify our site as large (www.covers.com), with our primary target being traffic within the US (about 70%) but I have a feeling we are limited by our IP being located within Canada. I have changed all the targeting to the US in WMT, but could undertake a project to virtually 'move' the site to a US IP, if there would be benefit. I have found articles coming down on both sides of the issue. Thoughts?

URL gets cut off in Google
Hi everybody, I got a question concerning my website URLs. It's a large WordPress website and we've got a lot of categorised pages ('parent' / 'child'). Now when I search for a specific page I only get to see the 'parent' name in the URL. The page which I am looking for isn't visible. Only a small arrow which shows me 2 options (in cache and compare). The URLs are not too long. Does anybody know why this happens, and how I can solve it? I added a image for reference. (Where /partners/ is the parent page and /partners/aruba/ isn't visible) Thank you very much. LSsT1Ua

Titles in google serps incorrect
If you do the following query in google: site:orlandovisiting.com legend sparrow You'll see in the results the title appears as: legend-captain-jack-sparrow-1149.html Where the title tag in the source is: <title>The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow Opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studiostitle> Eventually it normally rights itself, but does anyone else get this with their sites? Thanks.

Google previews meanings
I have noticed that when I do a site:mysite.com search and all my indexed pages come up, that when I hover over the arrows and bring up the previews some of the pages have things in a red rectangle and some of the pages even have zig zag-like tears/perforations running through them. What do these signify?

Why do I see dramatic differences in impressions between Google Webmaster Tools and Google Insights for Search?
Has anyone else noticed discrepancies between these tools? Take keyword A and keyword B. I've literally seen situations where A has 3 or 4 times the traffic as B in Google Webmaster Tools, but half the traffic of B in Google Insights for Search. What might be the reason for this discrepancy?
