Need some feedback on organize media
-
I work at a large church and we have an unique problem we're trying to solve.
We have a lot of media on our site. We have messages from every Sunday, plus mid-week services, and other events all on our website.
We have the messages organized into series, but would like to somehow organize these messages into topics as well, or some other way to organize them better.
We have over 5000 pieces of media! Here's a link to our current media page....does anyone have any experience working with this much content, and how we can do better?
By the way, SEO / organic traffic is secondary to helping users on our site find content better. We are also in the process of changing over our site search to google search to help give users better search results. But our end game is to help user find our content better.
Thanks for your help!

Perhaps they are basing their code off a larger more common CMS? might be worth getting in touch and explaining your issue. This is a pretty common issue so it shouldn't be a big deal (re: using categories/sections/departments to sort, or using tagging). Good luck!
-
Thanks for the feedback, categories and tags was what I was thinking of. We actually use a custom CMS that was made by the developer who did the site...

hi -
what kind of content management system (CMS) is your website using? perhaps you could categorize your videos into an additional category/department etc/
also, if your CMS uses a tagging system it may just be as simple as tagging videos relevant to a topic (i.e. "sunday meetings") and then providing a sort link.
if you use a turn key CMS, there may be a 3rd party solution that will help you plug in organization functionality.

Moved brand's shop to a new domain. will our organic traffic recuperate?
Hello, We are a healthcare company with a strong domain authority and several thousand pages of service related content at brand.com. We've been operating an ancillary ecommerce store that sells related 3rd party products at brand.com/shop for a little over a year. We recently invested in a platform upgrade and moved our site to a new domain, brandshop.com. We implemented page-level 301 redirects including all category pages, product detail pages, canonical and non-canonical URLs, etc.. which the understanding that there would not be any loss in page rank. What we're seeing over the last 2 months is an initial dive in organic traffic, followed by a ramp-up period of if impressions (but not position) in the following weeks, another drop and we've steady at this low for the last 2 weeks. Another area that might have hurt us, the 301 redirects were implemented correctly immediately post launch (on a wednesday), but it was discovered on the following Monday that our .htaccess file had reverted to an old version without the redirect rules. For 3-4 days, all traffic was being redirected from brand.com/shop/url to brandshop.com/badurl. Can we expect to recover our organic traffic giving the launch screw up with the .htaccess file, or is it more of an issue with us separating from the brand.com domain? Thanks,

This is the website: http://www.acolerealty.com/blog/ If this helps here is the custom CSS in worpress is the following: /* GREEN */ body {background: #eff3ec !important;} .header-membership {

Tagged URL ranking organically
I've noticed that one of our GA tagged urls are ranking organically & therefore is skewing the referral data. The campaign that we were tracking is no longer active but the link still works, but it's going to an old landing page. I asked our developers if we could redirect it but they said that it didn't work. Does anyone have some advise or a solution for this? Thanks!

National Company Needs Local (7 Box) Rankings in Test Metros
A lot of pressure on me for this one...
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | jayt
I have a national client with excellent naturals, and a huge PPC budget. Getting killed locally, forcing use below the 7box. I need to find either a definitive way to get into the 7 box in dozens of metro areas, or HIRE a consultant who knows this landscape better.
Any thoughts?
The client serves all 50 states, by phone and online, in a very competitive market. I've killed it for 12 years, and volume has slipped so we need to grab more local.
Complimenting matters, we are currently migrating their main site to CMS (Umbraco).. a little busy!0 -

Please I need some optimism for this (not provided)
Does anyone see this getting any better. It is getting absolutely ridiculous and almost to the point where it looks like soon analytics will be pointless! Can Rand pull some connects and tell Google - Hey Camon! This is ridiculous, we need to see at least a little bit more of these! notprovided.jpg
