How to fix Yahoo/Bing Ranking with hurting great Google ranking
-
If you have a Top ranking for keyword in Google but for Bing and Yahoo you rank considerably lower how do you balance the desire to rank better in Yahoo/Bing with not wanting to damage your Google ranking?
Have people found certain on page SEO tactics help one but damage the other?
Does anyone else have great Google rankngs for keywords but Bing/Yahoo are mediocre to poor?

Hi inhouseninja,
To be straight what I experienced over such same situation is that Bing/Yahoo really works slow to consider newer website pages or new changes in the domain to get indexed or ranking in their SERP listings.
Best,

I have had similar experiences, with Google indexing a website within a week or so at the absolute most, and then as time passes and I check the rank tracking tool I use and begin to work on my SEO strat for the ascent up through the ranks of Google's SERPs. I start wondering why Yahoo and Bing do not appear to have any of my sites pages indexed and I begin to wonder what error I might have made, or perhaps I accidently did something agaist Yahoo / Bing terms of service and am blacklisted... It doesn't really bother me too much though since with the bulk of the market share, I'm pretty content to be in the good graces of Big G.
Usually, by the time my first round of SEO modifications starts to increase my rankings on Google, I start to show up on Yahoo and then a while later I will start to show up on Bing.
Bing's Webmaster Tools is similar to GWTs, and in my opinion BWT is much more useful. I would highly recommend that you register an account with Bing and take advantage of their excellent tools and would assume that you will start to see rankings with Bing much sooner from it's use as well.

I just wonder because we rank in top 10 for benchmarking on Google but Bing and Yahoo are 49/50. Your explanation makes sense except the yahoo/Bing rankings are all over the place. From 50 to 90 to 10 while Google has been steady.

We have a number of sites that rank well on Big G but not on Bing - it seems to be an issue around search lag from our experience. We could be wrong but we've had sites who ranked in top 2 or 3 for a term on G and 6 months later it was top 5 for bing when previously it had been no where, its just possible bing is slow?

Number of Items As a Google Ranking Factor??
If I search for "hiking boots" and scan down the SERPs I see the following... Google reports "483 items" for the Zappos.com page. Google reports "Results 1 - 36 of 85" for the Shoebuy.com page (and that does not appear in their code). So, Google is obviously paying attention to the depth of your information or the number of items that you are showing. If they think that is important enough to count and report in the SERPs, might they also be using that information as a ranking factor?? PRACTICAL APPLICATION FOR SEO: If google is using this information, perhaps people should list all of their color, size, etc variants on a single page. For example if you sell widgets in five colors, instead of making one page for each color, list all five on the same page.

Is it still possible for small businesses to rank well in google
Hi I've been playing around with ecommerce sites for a few years now and although I am no expert I'm not a complete novice. We used to do quite well in google but recent changes have halved our number of hits. I have noticed that over the last year google has given priority to large brand names as opposed to relevancy. For example, if you search for the term 'bridal jewellery' (google UK) you will see that apart from one or two the majority of placements are taken by big compnies who offer very little bridal jewellery. One or two pages at most. My question is, is it still possible to rank well against these brand names or has google made it impossible for small companies. PS we only practice ethical seo as suggested by seomoz. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks www.kerryblu.co.uk

Whats next after I rank for many keywords?
I have a client who came to me wanting to know what's next for her as she already ranks in the top 5 for hundreds of keywords. She is right, her rankings for her niche are excellent and there are no relevant keywords for her to try and go after. What would be next to generate traffic? p.s She also has links from just about everyone in the industry that's relevant There has to be more "tricks" to seo besides keywords and link building

Google site links on sub pages
Hi all Had a look for info on this one but couldn't find much. I know these days that if you have a decent domain good will often automatically put site links on for your home if someone searches for your company name, however has anyone seen these links appear for sub pages? For example, lets say I had a .com domain with /en /fr /de sub folders, each seoed for their location. If I were to then have domain.com/en/ as no1 in Google for my company in the UK would I be able to get site links under this or does it only work on the 'proper' homepage domain.com/ A client of mine wants to reorganise their website so they have different location sections ranking in different markets but they also want to keep having sitewide links as they like the look of it Thanks Carl

Related Searches in Google
Hello, We're helping a client remove/minimize some negative information about their brand in Google's search results. Just curious about your take on if the related searches that appear at the bottom of Google search results can in any way be influenced or if it is more a combination of so many factors that any one person or organization wouldn't be able to change very easily? I've heard the related results could be influenced if enough queries generated overtake the "negative" queries done initially but I feel like that is venturing into black hat land a bit. thanks -Mike
