Geolocating off or on?
-
Hi
I run a site with with a top level domain - www.tidy-books.com
We have a www.tidy-books.co.uk and other country based domains
My questions concerns the US and UK for the time being. Basically the UK site was originally on the .com but we changed over to .co.uk about 6 months ago for various reasons (not ideal I know). The US site was on a completely different URL so became the .com. The final bit is at the moment we have a IP country redirect on.
My question is as the .com at presents carries the most of the SEO juice, ranks higher than the .co.uk but as we have the redirect on gets the customer to the relevant site, would it be best to turn of geo location off on the .com? At the moment for the .com its set as United states.
Hope that makes sense and looking forward to hearing your opinions.
Thanks

I think I've already answered to this question few weeks ago :).
Said that, I would quit the geolocation of the .com and add in both sites the rel="alternate" hreflang="x-X" and the rel="alternate" hreflang="default" this way:
<rel="alternate" hreflang="en" href="http://www.domain.com"></rel="alternate">
<rel="alternate" hreflang="en-GB" href="http://www.domain.co.uk"></rel="alternate">
<rel="alternate" hreflang="default" href="http://www.domain.com"></rel="alternate">
The first line is saying to Google to show that URL for search done in English all the the world.
The second that you want Google to show only the .co.uk URLs to the users from Great Britain
The third suggest Google to show to people doing a search in another language than English, but that could show up your sites, the .com global version of the site, even if it in English.

My posts are ignored by google not sure why
I have been investigating this problem for some time now and there must be a technical problem. My posts seem to be ignored by google. For example, if i put this title of my article in google, other sites come up instead of my website Lincolnshire Caravan Owners Struggle To Compete With Haven https://www.in2town.co.uk/skegness-news/lincolnshire-caravan-owners-struggle-to-compete-with-haven/ I am trying to find out what technical problem I have that is stopping google displaying my post. Can anyone advise me on what tools to use and how to find out what is going wrong

Google Not Picking Up Posts
I am trying to work out why from March 4th Google is not seeing my posts. Our google impressions have dropped from 8,000 to 40. If you put in the full article name with speach marks it does not find it, and instead shows the home page in google. We have not had any warnings. We did have work done on our site but nothing else i could think of to cause this. Can anyone let me know what may have caused this. All articles are original

Product photo links appear in search results
Since I'm new, I don't have any information. Product photo links appear in the search results. Is this a problem? because when you click on the link, it does not take you to a page, but to a blank page with only a photo. What should I do for this situation?

How to Boost Your WordPress Website Speed to 95+ (Without Premium Plugins)
I'm reaching out for some advice on improving my WordPress website's speed. I'm currently using a free theme for this fusion magazine and aiming for a score of 95+ on Google PageSpeed Insights. I'm aware that premium plugins can significantly enhance performance, but I'm hoping to achieve similar results using primarily free solutions and manual optimizations.

Google will index us, but Bing won't. Why?
Bing is crawling our site, but not indexing it, and we cannot figure out why -- plus it's being indexed fine in Google. Any ideas on what the issue with Bing might be? Here's are some details to let you know what we've already checked/established: We have 4 301’s and the rest of our site checks out We’ve already established our Robots is ok, and that we are fixing our site map/it's in fine shape We do not see anything blocking bingbot access to the site There is no varnish or any load balancers, so nothing on that end that would be blocking the access We also don't see any rules in the apache or the .htaccess config that would be blocking the access

IP address geolocation
I would classify our site as large (www.covers.com), with our primary target being traffic within the US (about 70%) but I have a feeling we are limited by our IP being located within Canada. I have changed all the targeting to the US in WMT, but could undertake a project to virtually 'move' the site to a US IP, if there would be benefit. I have found articles coming down on both sides of the issue. Thoughts?

Geolocate or not?
Hello all, I'm optimising an e-commerce site which is multilingual (English and Arabic at present). The Arabic content will be on a separate sub-domain to the English. There is a plan to have French content as well. My question is whether to geolocate the sites in webmaster tools? We don't really want to restrict the audience, but would definitely like to have a presence in the listings for google UK, google US and google Saudi Arabia. Your advice and thought are appreciated as always. Bilal

Geolocation has changed targeted domains, or has it?
I am monitoring two domains; a .com and a .com.au in quite a competitive sector (men's underwear online sales) last month the .com site completely dropped from rankings sight in Google International SERPs but, the .com.au site is actually ranking (quite respectively too) in the International/US Google SERPs. I have no idea how, when or why but it's now been the case for two months. Help please?
