Submitting URLs to Bing and Google
-
Does Submitting URLs to Bing and Google actually do anything? Is it worthwhile?
What I mean is submitting intermittently individual URLS after already submitting the sitemap.
-
If your sitemap.xml file is uptodate and/or all your links can be accessed by Google it does not make sense to submit links manually.
-
Thanks. I do it quite a lot -especially after updating my blog- but I wondered if it really was useful.

I don't believe submitting URLs is a strategy if that is what you mean. I rarely submit URLs but if I find a page or have a new page that I want to get crawled as quickly as possible then I will go submit. I certainly don't have any proof of how much this has helped over the years. I do believe it notifies Google and Bing to crawl.

Yes, it helps them get crawled quicker.
Its like telling them, please go here and find this URL ,as opposed to sitting around doing nothing about it and crying weeks later wondering why your website has not been found yet
I see you edited your post after my response

Does changing/shortening a url hurt SEO?
Hi all, I am in the process of making small optimization changes to my site. I noticed Moz identified quite a few URLs that could be shortened. I intend to shorten these URLs and create 301 redirects to ensure website users land on the right page. My question is, will this change in URL damage rankings and engagement(assuming the URL remains content relevant)? I have read in some places that when creating URL redirects for a change in domain, people saw a dip in rankings and engagement. I, however, am not intending to change the main domain of the site, but rather the URL slug. Any thoughts?

Google Answer Box
I optimized several pages using Rand's post on Google Answer Box: https://moz.com/blog/how-to-appear-in-googles-answer-boxes-whiteboard-friday How long after the page is indexed should it appear? Lastly, how long should I wait before determining it will not get an answer box and reconfigure the page? No bad answers 🙂 TY KJr

Google cached snapshots and last indexed
My question is I noticed today that the snap shots of my main pages were outdated. About a month. Then I clicked on the "Learn More" link about cahced images and Google says "Google crawls the web and takes snapshots of each page. When you click Cached, you'll see the webpage as it looked when we last indexed it." I know this sounds really dumb, but does that really mean the last time Google indexed that page? So the changes I have made since then have not been taken yet?

Main page deindexed by google.
3 days ago our main page('/') has stopped appear in google results. Rest of pages works fine. Even our main page from canadian version of site with similar content works fine. Some times canadian page appears for key word where we had our com version before. But I think this is just result of disappearing com version. Any suggestion were to look? Messages box in google webmastertools is empty. Could this be the question too long page title? PS: Does any way exist to check if we were punished by Google and reason of this? For Bing and Yahoo everything works fine. PPS: We have just found that "cache:our_site.com" and "info:our_site.com" returns in google our_site.ca. So this should be reason of problem. So now we are looking how to fix this.

ON SITE SEARCH INDEXED BY GOOGLE - no follow or no index
Google indexes alll our internetal searches: search box is brand - clothes types - size type - and for each page it creates a page that which creates duplicate page title and unnecessary content. Should I do a nofollow on the advance search or a no index. Many thanks for the info. Sonja
