Why are these pages considered duplicate content?
-
I have a duplicate content warning in our PRO account (well several really) but I can't figure out WHY these pages are considered duplicate content.
They have different H1 headers, different sidebar links, and while a couple are relatively scant as far as content (so I might believe those could be seen as duplicate), the others seem to have a substantial amount of content that is different. It is a little perplexing.
Can anyone help me figure this out?
Here are some of the pages that are showing as duplicate:

http://www.downpour.com/catalogsearch/advanced/byAuthor/author/Solomon+Northup/?bioid=11758

Hey Jay,
I checked two of the pages:
http://www.downpour.com/catalogsearch/advanced/byNarrator/narrator/Seth+Green/?bioid=5554 and http://www.downpour.com/catalogsearch/advanced/byAuthor/author/Solomon+Northup/?bioid=11758 against each other in a duplicate content checker (http://www.webconfs.com/similar-page-checker.php) and they returned a similarity percentage of 67%, which we definitely shouldn't be showing as duplicate. (We consider pages at 90% or more to be dupes.)
I went to check on your crawl to see if it might be a bug and it looks like the number of duplicate content errors has gone down a lot with the crawl that took place today and none of these pages are included as duplicates, so it may have been a temporary bug. If you see these pages counted as duplicates again. Please let us know so that we can look into it further.
Hopefully, this helps!

A decent free tool for internal site duplication is siteliner.com it is made by Copyscape I believe, but quite helpful for any duplicate content concerns.

If we ever meet I will gladly buy!
Thanks!

These pages aren't duplicate at all. I wouldn't worry about it. The SEOmoz crawl tool isn't perfect and you can rest assured that Google won't consider these pages duplicate content.
You owe me a Coke.

example.com/webpage.html Were now linking to
example.com/webpage.html/ Urls in the xml sitemap remained unchanged (no trailing slash). We started noticing duplicate content (because our site renders the same page with or without the trailing shash). We corrected the problematic php url function so that now, all links on the site link to a url without trailing slash. However, Google had time to index these pages. Internal Duplicate Pages causing dip in rankings
Hi Guys, Need help in understanding whether having duplicate pages on your site push you down in rankings. Our all product pages getting indexed by Google with different parameters i.e. filters, affiliate id, utm_source etc. and then we have 10-15 duplicate for one product page. I am observing dip in rankings whenever Google starts indexing these duplicate but when I asked this question to John Muller and other Google team they said if you set up canonical then you don't have to worry about having different urls for same page but we are not ranking on Google and if we do then we dropped from page 1 to page 2 or sometimes page 3. Are Dated News Considered Low Quality Content?
I've got lots of news posts on my blog. There is nothing wrong with the news posts themselves but older posts do get lower CTR and higher bounce rates. I was considering moving the older news to a subdomain (ie.: archive.mywebsite.com) and do a 302 redirect for each post. What do you think?

What constitutes duplicate content?
I have a website that lists various events. There is one particular event at a local swimming pool that occurs every few months -- for example, once in December 2011 and again in March 2012. It will probably happen again sometime in the future too. Each event has its own 'event' page, which includes a description of the event and other details. In the example above the only thing that changes is the date of the event, which is in an H2 tag. I'm getting this as an error in SEO Moz Pro as duplicate content. I could combine these pages, since the vast majority of the content is duplicate, but this will be a lot of work. Any suggestions on a strategy for handling this problem?

Avoiding duplicate content on an ecommerce site
Hi all, I have an ecommerce site which has a standard block of text on 98% of the product pages. The site also has a blog. Because these cause duplicate content and duplicate title issues respectively, how can I ever get around this? Would having the standard text on the product pages displayed as an image help? And how can I stop the blog being listed as duplicate titles without a nofollow? We already have the canonical attribute applied to some areas where this is appropriate e.g. blog and product categories. Thanks for your help 🙂

I have a duplicate content problem
The website guy that made the website for my business Premier Martial Arts Austin disappeared and didn't set up that www. was to begin each URL, so I now have a duplicate content problem and don't want to be penalized for it. I tried to show in Webmaster tools the preferred setup but can't get it to OK that I'm the website owner. Any idea as what to do?
