No PageRank but good Moz stats?
-
Hi,
Why would a website with good Moz stats such as DA/PA 45, mR/mT 5.0+ have 0 PageRank?
Have these sites done something? I have seen some sites with similar Moz stats have PR3/4 and when I have checked a year later the PR has dropped to 0.
Does that indicate Google has hit those sites and removed their PageRank?
Thanks.

There's a good chance of that - a drop like that would normally mean its PageRank has been penalised.
If you can verify this with some suspicious looking backlinks via Open Site Explorer, then I would steer clear.

Cheers Tom, helpful.
What happens if the domain has been around for years and did have a PR3 which dropped to PR0.
I'm guessing they have been hit and any outbounds won't pass PR anymore.

They possibly may have been penalised, or they could just be new-ish sites where the majority of their good links have come in the recent weeks/months.
Google's toolbar PageRank only updates every 3-4 months, so it's possible that during this time the page in question could have acquired all of those links to give it a healthy Moz score.
You can check this by popping the URL into the wayback machine and see when it was last archived, checking the whois data of the site and see when it was registered and also by checking the recency of its backlinks with Ahrefs - the free version will give you a link graph of when the links have been acquired.
Anything after February 11th or something around that mark is when the PR toolbar updated, so if you can see a lot of links to that page after that date, the page and domain should be fine, it just hasn't had the chance to have its PR updated.
Hope this helps.

Crawl Stats Decline After Site Launch (Pages Crawled Per Day, KB Downloaded Per Day)
Hi all, I have been looking into this for about a month and haven't been able to figure out what is going on with this situation. We recently did a website re-design and moved from a separate mobile site to responsive. After the launch, I immediately noticed a decline in pages crawled per day and KB downloaded per day in the crawl stats. I expected the opposite to happen as I figured Google would be crawling more pages for a while to figure out the new site. There was also an increase in time spent downloading a page. This has went back down but the pages crawled has never went back up. Some notes about the re-design: URLs did not change Mobile URLs were redirected Images were moved from a subdomain (images.sitename.com) to Amazon S3 Had an immediate decline in both organic and paid traffic (roughly 20-30% for each channel) I have not been able to find any glaring issues in search console as indexation looks good, no spike in 404s, or mobile usability issues. Just wondering if anyone has an idea or insight into what caused the drop in pages crawled? Here is the robots.txt and attaching a photo of the crawl stats. 980 links from 75 domains and Graded "A" on Moz Page Grader-- still not ranking for our term. Thoughts?
A few additional interesting details: A blog post we wrote with the same keyword ranks 8, but this page does not crack the top 20. Crazy competitive term-- top SERP are from HBR, Entrepreneur and Inc. We use Instapage as landing page builder-- could this effect our rankings? URL is not a subdomain Pretty stumped over here. Thanks y'all!

Is a rebranding that calls for a domain change a good time to sneak in a change to HTTPS?
Assumed: The material around good migration/redesign practices recommend, logically enough, to change as few things as possible in any given step, thus giving search engines as little trouble as possible identifying and reindexing changes. So if someone is doing significant changes to content, including uri changes, and a rebranding that requires a domain migration, they are generally better off doing one, than the other. 1) Beyond immediate testing and checking for correct crawl health being reestablished after one change, any thoughts on rules of thumb for when to do the second change? Do you do it as soon as you see your rankings/traffic turn the corner and confirm an upward trend after the drop, or wait till you have it all back (or at least hit a plateau)? In the absence of data or best practice I'm thinking of just letting 1/3rd to 2/3rds come back. Is a change to HTTPS small enough/similar enough from the search engine's perspective that it makes more sense to do that at the same time as the rebrand driven domain change? Does this create any special risks or considerations beyond those that arise from the individual components of the change?

Looking for a good example of local pages done right
I am looking for a company or two that serves customers in multiple regions and has their site set up in the best possible way to target those areas. I would like, if possible, to see an example of a company that has an address in each area served, and one that only has one base location, but travels to serve customers.

Suppliers linking to website - good or bad practice?
Hi, was just wondering about suppliers linking to website - copywriters, web developers, etc. - could these be seen as purchased links by Google. Is it best to specify that suppliers shouldn't link through?

Is site:domain.com + keyword a good indicator of the quality of a page?
Are the results provided by site:domain.com + keyword a good indicator of the quality of certain pages? For example, should the first result be more relevant, have a higher number of links, etc than the second result?
