Https Duplicate Content
-
My previous host was using shared SSL, and my site was also working with https which I didn’t notice previously.
Now I am moved to a new server, where I don’t have any SSL and my websites are not working with https version.
Problem is that I have found Google have indexed one of my blog http://www.codefear.com with https version too. My blog traffic is continuously dropping I think due to these duplicate content. Now there are two results one with http version and another with https version.
I searched over the internet and found 3 possible solutions.
1 No-Index https version
2 Use rel=canonical
3 Redirect https versions with 301 redirectionNow I don’t know which solution is best for me as now https version is not working.
One more thing I don’t know how to implement any of the solution. My blog is running on WordPress.
Please help me to overcome from this problem, and after solving this duplicate issue, do I need Reconsideration request to Google.
Thank you

Unfortunately, I think this may not only be the best option, but the only option. You can't NOINDEX or use rel=canonical if the https pages aren't resolving, so you would have to do the redirects in .htaccess.
Unfortunately, messing with .htaccess for anything sitewide can get pretty tricky, and a little dangerous. I believe this code should work, but I'm not sure about any quirks in WordPress or specifics of your site implementation:

You may want a WordPress specialist to take a look.

Redirect is the best option for you I believe, you will pass the majority of link juice if anybody has backlinked to the https version.
You will need to contact the host where your server is in order to get this implemented. Alternatively you can just resubmit your http site for index in Google via GWT and see how that goes.

Duplicate content and canonicalization confusion
Hello, http://bit.ly/1b48Lmp and http://bit.ly/1BuJkUR pages have same content and their canonical refers to the page itself. Yet, they rank in search engines. Is it because they have been targeted to different geographical locations? If so, still the content is same. Please help me clear this confusion. Regards

How to handle city-based product selection and duplicate content?
Hi everyone, I've been searching the interwebs for a solution to my problem, but haven't really found anything conclusive. I've got a client with duplicate content issues; their website not only has a nation-wide website, but also 10 different sub-categories for different cities, with each subcategory having the same content as the main website. The reason they wanted city-based websites was due to the changing product offerings in each city. So City 1 may not have all the products available that City 2 does. Needless to say this has caused some duplicate content issues as most sections of the website have been multiplied by 10. When a visitor lands on any page of the website, they are greeted by a pop up asking for their location, which will then redirect them to their selected version of the website. As the copy cannot really be changed enough for each city to make it unique, I've been looking into canonical tags, but this would mean the localised versions will not be indexed by Google. Has anyone had any experience of a similar situation where the product range changes according to location, but it doesn't hurt SEO? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Content Duplication and Canonical Tag settings
Hi all, I have a question regarding content duplication. My site has posted one fresh content in the article section and set canonical in the same page for avoiding content duplication._But another webmaster has taken my post and posted the same in his site with canonical as his site url. They have not given to original source as well._May I know how Google will consider these two pages. Which site will be affected with content duplication by Google and how can I solve this issue? If two sites put canonical tags in there own pages for the same content how the search engine will find the original site which posted fresh content. How can we avoid content duplication in this case?

Over 700+ duplicate content pages -- help!
I just signed up for SEO Moz pro for my site. The initial report came back with over 700+ duplicate content pages. My problem is that while I can see why some of the content is duplicated on some of the pages I have no idea why it's coming back as duplicated. Is there a tutorial for a novie on how to read the duplicate content report and what steps to take? It's an e-commerce website and there is some repetitive content on all the product pages like our "satisfaction guaranteed" text and the fabric material... and not much other text. There's not a unique product description because an image speaks for itself. Could this be causing the problem? I have lots of URLs with over 50+ duplicates. Thx for any help.

Avoiding duplicate content on product pages?
Hi, I'm creating a bunch of product pages for courses for a university and I'm concerned about duplicate content penalties. While the page names are different and some of the test is different, much of the text is the same between pairs of pages. I.e. a BA and an MA in a particular subject (say 'hairdressing' will have the same subject descriptions, school introduction paragraph, industry overview paragraph etc. 1. Is this a problem? In a site with 100 pages, if sets of 2 pages have about 50% identical content... 2. If it is a problem, is there anything I can do, other than rewrite the text? 3. From a search perspective, would both pages show up in search results in searches related to 'hairdressing courses' 'study hairdressing' etc? Thanks!

Duplicate Page Content
I've got several pages of similar products that google has listed as duplicate content. I have them all set up with rel="prev" and rel="next tags telling google that they are part of a group but they've still got them listed as duplicates. Is there something else I should do for these pages or is that just a short falling of googles webmaster tools? One of the pages: http://www.jaaronwoodcountertops.com/wood-countertop-gallery/walnut-countertop-9.html
