Limit on Google Removal Tool?
-
I'm dealing with thousands of duplicate URL's caused by the CMS...
So I am using some automation to get through them -
What is the daily limit? weekly? monthly?
Any ideas??
thanks,
Ben

Hi. I was curious to know if you were able to find all the urls that needed to be removed, if they were effectively removed, and if your traffic came back. I'm assuming you were dealing with Panda issues.
-
Thanks @Baldea - yes, you are correct, as soon as it processes the requests for removal it allows for more to be added for removal.
In "one sitting", I managed to get 1000 URL's removed - within a few hours I could process more.
-
It's been a while since I haven't used GWT, but I thing you have a limit of 500 requests/day or something like that.
As soon as those requests are processed the counter resets.
-
Thanks Baldea....
Yes, I have done all the above, but still got some pages stuck in Google Index that got in there - now measurements are in place to stop that happening in the future.
But using batch process of GWT to remove the URL's that already got into the index.
So how many URL's can I remove with GWT?
-
Hi BJ
I'd use the URL removal tool only after I'd make sure that I used rel=canonical (to point out which is the actual URL Google should consider "legit", use noindex, follow meta tag for the pages you don't want google to index - like tag or category pages or subpages -).
You can also use strings when removing pages, which may be way more effective than removing them one by one: eg: http://www.example.com/category/ - Google will remove all matching URLs.
But I strongly advise you to make sure you minimize as much as you can the duplicate content generation and use the two methods I highlighted above.
Hope it helps.

Using disavow tool for 404s
Hey Community, Got a question about the disavow tool for you. My site is getting thousands of 404 errors from old blog/coupon/you name it sites linking to our old URL structure (which used underscores and ended in .jsp). It seems like the webmasters of these sites aren't answering back or haven't updated their sites in ages so it's returning 404 errors. If I disavow these domains and/or links will it clear out these 404 errors in Google? I read the GWT help page on it, but it didn't seem to answer this question. Feel free to ask any questions that may help you understand the issue more. Thanks for your help,

Is there a way to get a list of Total Indexed pages from Google Webmaster Tools?
I'm doing a detailed analysis of how Google sees and indexes our website and we have found that there are 240,256 pages in the index which is way too many. It's an e-commerce site that needs some tidying up. I'm working with an SEO specialist to set up URL parameters and put information in to the robots.txt file so the excess pages aren't indexed (we shouldn't have any more than around 3,00 - 4,000 pages) but we're struggling to find a way to get a list of these 240,256 pages as it would be helpful information in deciding what to put in the robots.txt file and which URL's we should ask Google to remove. Is there a way to get a list of the URL's indexed? We can't find it in the Google Webmaster Tools.

Buying a domain banned by google
Hi , I came across a super domain for my business but found out that it was a great domain with 100s of link backs but is now banned by Google search engine meaning Google does not index content from that domain. Since the domains linkbacks are from my domin does it make sense to but that domain and redirect those link backs to another (301) and hope that the new domain gets some juice ... I know it is sounding crazy and may not be the best thing to do ethically but still wanted to check if its possible to get some juice.. Rgds Avinash

Removing dashes in our URLs?
Hi Forum, Our site has an errant product review module that is resulting in about 9-10 404 errors per day on Google Webmaster Tools. We've found that by changing our product page URLs to only include 2 dashes, the module stops causing 404 errors for that page. Does changing our URL from "oursite.com/girls-pink-yoga-capri.html" to "oursite.com/girlspink-yoga-capri.html" hurt our SEO for a search for "girls pink yoga capri"? If so, by how much (assuming everthing else on the page is optimized properly) Thanks for your input.

Tool to calculate the number of pages in Google's index?
When working with a very large site, are there any tools that will help you calculate the number of links in the Google index? I know you can use site:www.domain.com to see all the links indexed for a particular url. But what if you want to see the number of pages indexed for 100 different subdirectories (i.e. www.domain.com/a, www.domain.com/b)? is there a tool to help automate the process of finding the number of pages from each subdirectory in Google's index?
