SEO Title Tag Best Practice?
-
Hi,
I would like to know if appending site name at the end of page title ( page title -_ Site Name/Site URL_ ) is a good/bad practice in reference to SEO?
If a good practice which is better ( Site Name or Site URL )?
Example:
20 Things you didn't know about zombies - coed.com
Thanks in advance

Robert,
I've always looked at the 70 charters you get in the title as the most important 70 characters on the whole page and every character you use there should be well thought-out and have a strong reason for being there. Of course branding is important but rarely do you really need to take up space in your title in order to rank for your brand. It's often better to use that space for a concise handful of words that vividly describes what the page is about.

Personally, I view appending the name at the end of the title to be more for branding than for SEO. If you are trying to build a brand, it can be very useful to reinforce it by placing it at the end of all of your title tags. This works great if you have a unique brand and your brand name is short enough to actually fit within the character limitation of the title tag while still giving you room to describe what's on the page.
Regarding whether or not to use ".com" - I think it depends on your business and your intent with the site. If the majority of your business is taking place online, then the .com might be very appropriate. Or, if whatever action you are hoping the visitor takes is an online action, then again, the .com would be very appropriate. If, on the other hand, you are a plumber and what you really want is for them to call you, then maybe leave the ".com" off...for example "Roto-Rooter"....if you search "roto-rooter Seattle" you'll see they append "Roto-Rooter Plumbing" at the end of their title tag, not "Roto-Rooter.com"
Hope that helps!

Is a resource page bad for SEO
This is the page http://www.christoit.com/free-resources/articles. While this page isn't what I would consider to be a "resource page" (there are no downloads or any other resources) The question is, does a page like this that just has links to articles, hurt the overall ranking of the site. If you have any examples to support your opinion that would be great! Thanks so much for all awesome threads and answers on this site. There are some really smart people all in one place!

How long does it take Google to index new title tags and meta descriptions?
Hi, I have launched a website ( www.bookkeepingking.com )and would like Google to reflect the latest title tag changes in its results. How long does it typically take to happen? I believe this might be one reason why the site may not be generating any search traffic yet, even though I haven't yet begun any link building yet. A couple of notes: When I enter site:bookkeepingking.com in the search box, the pages show up, but with the old/default title and meta descriptions. I am using the Yoast for SEO plugin I have resubmitted the XML map - Yoast created 2... /page-sitemap.xml and /post-sitemap.xml The changes were made about 1 week ago. WMT says that there are zero errors. Is there something I may have missed? Or do I just need to give it more time? Thanks in advance for your help. Erin

Internal Links & Title Tags, Which Page Benifits?
The best way I can explain why question is with an example. Lets say I have a parent parent page that is focusing on a broad keyword.

I also have a sub-page which is focused more on long-tail keyword variations. When I make an internal link and give it a title tag, should I give it the long-tail keyword for the juice, or should I use the broad keyword for the parent page's relevancy? Thanks for any help, advise or pointers.0
