Reconsideration Request Letter - What must be included to be restored

How important do you feel the actual 'fluff' of a reconsideration letter is? I have created a comprehensive analysis reviewing thousands of links, removing hundreds, no-following links and disavowing many. However one thing I did not do in my letter is throw anyone under the bus and told that is what Google is looking for. Do you have any thoughts or insight into this? If it is a manual penalty then is google looking for you to blame a specific agency or company you bought links from to be truly forgiven?

I know many SEOs who have gone through the process and preach the necessity of an honest and thorough reconsideration request. The more details you give, the more they're likely to take it seriously.
I haven't heard that it's necessary to throw anyone under the bus, but it probably is true that if you're only apologizing because you got caught, they might not be so sympathetic. If someone actually did damage without your knowledge (like an old agency), then I'd come clean about that, but don't go off ranting about how it's all their fault. If you hired them, be honest about it. I definitely wouldn't make up a story for sympathy, as that can go wrong fast. These requests, if they get through the first filter (I suspect), are reviewed by humans, and they have a much better ability to detect BS than the algorithm does.

My tips are: be completely honest, remove the spammy-links/content, show proof of this (such as emails-use Google docs as they won't typically open any files) and you will now play "by the rules".

Will including a global-site link in all 100 local-sites footer be considered spammy?
If I am a car manufacturer brand site(global), and I request all my location-specific domains include a link to the global site in their footers, would this trigger a red flag for Google? There are roughly 100 location-specific sites, but I would like to come up with a long term solution, so this number could be larger in the future. Is it best practice to only follow the footer link on each location-specific site Homepage, and nofollow the rest of the footer links on each site? Is it best to only include one followed link to the manufacturer brand site (global) on each location-specific domain? Is it best to not put this global link in the footer, but rather towards the top of the page only on the homepage?

Why have bots (including googlebot) categorized my website as adult?
How do bots decide whether a website is adult? For example, I have a gifting portal, but strangely here, it is categorized as 'Adult'. Also, my google adsense application to run ads on my site got rejected - I have a feeling this is because googlebot categorized my site as adult. And there are good chances that other bots also consider it an adult website, rather than a gifting website. Can anyone please go through the site and tell me why this is happening? When you get a new inbound link do you submit a request to google to reindex the new page pointing at you?
I'm just starting my link building campaign in earnest, and received my first good quality inbound link less than an hour ago. My initial thought was that I should go directly to google, and ask them to reindex the page that linked to me... If I make a habit of that (getting a new link, then submitting that page directly to google), would that signify to google that this might not be a natural link building campaign? The links are from legitimate (non-paid, non-exchange) partners, which google could probably figure out, but I'm interested to know opinions on this. Thanks, -Eric

Strange client request
I have a client who attends an internet marketing meetup. I have been once myself. Good group of people but most seem lost when it comes to SEO and can't tell Black from White! Well today my client emailed me and in the email she mentioned doing a trick to the title tags. Client: "there is a trick to use with the title by putting keywords in quotes and parenthasis. I'm sure you know how to do that little trick. If we do it in the title and in the first few lines of the verbage it will soar us near the top and hopefully on the first page of Google." a few sentences later "We could use a tad more content on the first page ( with parantesis and quotes) to boost us up in the ratings. At least it is an easy trick to do." I have never heard of this. Has anyone else heard about this. Please share thoughts. It sounds completely bogus to me but I will be the first to admit that i don't know everything! However i would like to have more than just my opinion when I talk to my client. Let me know what you think.

Google Reconsideration Requests no problem... So what do I do next?
Hi all, So I recently filed a Google reconsideration request - but it came back saying "No manual spam actions found" - ok, so that's that. But from what I've read, if we have been hit by Panda for duplicate or thin content, we wouldn't know - in other words, Google does not report it as it is an algorhythm penalty as opposed to a manual one. So what are my options - do I wait until the next Panda update? when can that be? Or do I start over on a fresh domain? Input and views appreciated. thanks,

Reconsideration Request
Hi Guys, We have recently took a dip in rankings for some of our main keywords. We have had an SEO company look after our campaign but when we noticed we were moving down the rankings and not up we have decided to leave them. Our rankings dropped on the 7th January 2012 and haven't picked backup we are still #10 we were #3 on the 1st page... From what I can see using SEOMOZ and other tools our site has a good profile and is dominating some of our competitors when we look at our link analysis report. I was wondering if we submitted a 'Reconsideration Request' to Google would they tell us if we have a manual penalty against our site.
