Link profile
-
Hi All,
I am doing a link profile audit
I have few questions
1. Should i stop worrying about backlinks that i once had and now the websites is down or page is 404
2. The link is nofollow
Also i have 60% of my site links few root link and many articles/blogs links pasted in sites without any anchor text, should i worry about them?
Thanks

1. Yes, worry. 301 those old page to your new page or new web site.
2. I don't know if this is a question but I'm assuming you're talking about the links from the first question and whether they are meaningful. I say yes. Nofollow links are a critical component to a solid link profile.3. I would not worry about this. Again, a natural link profile will have anchor text that is not ideal.

- I would, because if it's a lot then you lost a lot of links there. Usually a sign of blog networks
2. The link is nofollow
- No problem with this one

- copied? Scraper sites are natural, the important part is that you keep track of them. If it gets out of hand, be prepared to disavow them or email them to remove them

Mttompsons, Google does not or should not "index" pages that return a 404, which means the page is not there.
What I mean by should not index, is that there is an instance where the old page is still in the index and from what I read that site will be dropped next time Google goes to try to reach/crawl that URL.
Links without anchor text = hidden link (regular user cannot see it, but the link is still in the code) so yes you should worry about it, and remove if you can.
If you are wondering why they are there? Someone may have tried to remove the link and instead just removed the anchor text leaving the link.
If you are wondering how to search for these links, search for ">" and "> " might be a good start
Hope this helps

Do Sitespect links get indexed?
I put a link on one of my websites using sitespect because the next release is not for a few weeks. The reason for the link is to pass domain authority (SEO Juice) to the linked site. In my next release I will add the link in the actual code, but am hoping that from now till then google will crawl and index this link. So the question is, will google crawl and index links adding to webpages via sitespect? Here is the code: | * [http://www.](<a class=)yourdomain.com" class="" >YourDomain |

Link building with AddThis URL
We've begun using AddThis for tracking our social sharing. AddThis has been adding the snippet to the end of the URLs on our pages and we've been finding that people linking to us are linking to the URL with the snippet. AddThis says this isn't a problem for SEO. Is this correct? Here is an example: https://www.harborcompliance.com/information/how-to-start-a-non-profit-organization-in-colorado.php#.UunCfPldVig I want to make sure this is not affecting our SEO in any way, particularly that Google would see this as an affiliate or paid link since it has the "#". I may be crazy but I just want to make sure!

Internal Linking
Hello there, I own a "how to" website with 1000+ articles, and the number of articles is growing every day. Often some articles are easier to understand if I link a certain step to an article that was written before, because that article explains the step in more detail. Should I use "read here/read more" or the "title of the article I'm referring to" as anchor text? When is internal linking too much? Should I use nofollow?

Link Building Advice
Hi Everyone, I have just joined the community and am looking for some help regards Offsite SEO and Link Building. I have done some basic SEO on my website 'Marketing Quotes' Added to web directories (although I am told they do not carry much weight) I have written content and articles around them (on ezine, squidoo etc.) I have written unique content for the site I have done guest posting on blogs Not sure what to do next though for high power links. I did notice a Q&A on contacting webmasters and asking for links (after building a relationship) but wondered if there was anything (offsite wise) that I have missed out? Appreciate any advice. Regards, David

First link count - passing of pagerank
I am asking this question after reading similar post. My question is does the first link count rule - Only the first link is counted, if we point to same page with two different anchor texts - applies to anchor text only. Does the PR is passed to the second link ?
