Help with outreach emails for content marketing
-
Hello,
Could I get some feedback on how to make a good outreach email?
I'm using buzzstream and Rand's awesome whiteboard friday. Here's what I've put together:
Hi [first name] have you seen this [our niche] article?
Paragraph 1 (short paragraph) comments on what the person is involved in, and ask them how these things are going
Paragraph 2 (short paragraph) talks about how I've shared and retweeted their recent important posts.
Paragraph 3 (short paragraph) Asks if they would link to our article. This niche article is really useful and needed to these people.
Paragraph 4 (short paragraph) I'm not sure how to reasearch and put something interesting here.
[my name]
co-owner
[our website]

Thanks Chris,
I think I can adapt this to what we're doing.
This outreach seems like an art form.
Thanks again,
Bob

How's this instead?
I'm an amateur [niche] enthusiast and your article/comment on [website name & date] led me to do some additional research this past week. I ended up with a pretty detailed piece on [article topic] and I wondered if you have any thoughts on what I've included in it. [Short, concluding, light-hearted sentence that references something personal about the recipient.] [link]

Hi Chris,
Thanks, yes one paragraph sounds a lot better. How would you frame it if the article is unlike anything that they have, yet it is useful to them? Also, maybe instead of
"your article/comment on [website name & date] lead me to write this article on [article topic] this past week"
I could truthfully (I want to be honest) say that the there's a lack of good material on [niche] so I created this article.
Though that doesn't sound as good as what you wrote.
Your thoughts?

My thoughts are that's a lot of paragraphs and how many sentences are going to be in each paragraph. If it were me, I'd whittle it down to just a few sentences. For the best possible response, there's no way to get around customizing each email or doing some research on each recipient. I'd recommend something more stripped down--maybe more along these lines:
Hi [recipient]
I'm a budding young [niche] writer and your article/comment on [website name & date] lead me to write this article on [article topic] this past week. I really respected your [other relevant, highly shared, well thought out article] and I wonder if you have any thoughts on mine and what I included in it. [Short, concluding, light-hearted sentence that references something personal about the recipient.] [link]
Thanks,
-
Hi,
Ofcourse this is just my personal opinion about this. I personally always tried to ask the people to 'link' to the article but used words like: mention, refer or any word like that. Just to make a bit clear that your goal is also not 100% linkbuilding but also building a brand.
Next to that in paragraph I would not myself tell the recipient that I think it's really needed for this people, I think they'll have to make that up for themselves.Could you give us a complete example?

I am trying to build links with my content. I always post to social media (Twitter, Facebook, Google + and sometimes Stumble Upon) What are other good choices that may have more staying power?

Building my Portfolio of 70 MicroNiche Sites (10-15 Pages of Content)
Hello Moz Community, I just bought 70 new domains in the past month in different niches with exact match domains, installing these sites on 2 different hostgator servers, installing all the plugins needed etc. and start publishing first 10 articles on each site. ( the keyword research was done with long tail pro and choosing the best long tails with MOZ difficulty grader that is under 40-45.) My question is the following: If I will have some of these sites that will don’t rank in Google in the next 3-6 months for the main keyword without building links…what will be the best course/method/resources I need to know about building quality backlinks and having the time to do these tasks on each website to be sure that every site will be a winner, or even 50-70% of them in both traffic & money ROI !?! I want to have a minimum of 10 sites that will make around 150$ per month because my Intention is to sell these sites on flippa for higher multiples of 15-20 monthly revenue. ( I sold my first website on flippa in September for 1650$ and is awesome. I want to repeat this success at a higher level ) Thank you ! I built niche sites since February 2012 but in terms of building backlinks to microniche sites I didn’t do too many things in the past when is about backlinking (just submitting in directories) so I ask about the experience of this community. Which are the best methods to build links in 2013 J Best regards, Sebastian Papp & His Team

Create content for long tail keywords.
I have identified some potential long tail keywords. But I am not a good writer. My strengths are in programming so I am coding the web site. In the mean time, what is the best way to create related content in terms of blog entries. I intend to have landing page in my blog and rank it as high as possible. How did you outsource the good content creation. How much did you pay? Thanks..

Duplicate content: One version is commercial and the other non commercial for linking purposes
I wanted to know if the following plan would be considered white hat or black hat. I am in the process of creating an instructional how to guide for a particular task. My how to guide will be a DIY guide so that with time and practice, customers can do this task for themselves and save money. I think that it would be a great resource. I want to ask other websites for links to this how to guide but the problem is that my blog has a commercial feel to it. These other websites that I plan on asking for a link probably won't link to my site because it promotes my services. They would be non profits, etc. My site needs to appear non commercial. In order to get around this stigma, I want to duplicate my how to guide twice on my blog. The first instance will be for normal visitors searching for my services. In the second instance, my banner, my tel number, my call to action will be deleted from my site. My website will be neutral. When I request a link from the non profits, I plan on sending a link to the neutral portion of my blog in the hopes that they will see a non commercial site and link to me. What do you think? I could also tell the webmasters that I've neutered my website for this resource only. Will this plan give link juice to my root domain?

How to Check if The Content is Spinned
Hi guys, We run 5 ecomm sites in the fashion industry. We set up blogs for each one of them. Our regular writer cannot handle the job of posting 1-2 unique articles per day on 5 blogs plus the extra copy writing jobs he has. We want to involve freelancers in writing our articles. We do not want to spin content (due to low prices of real articles). The issue we have is that we want to be able to check if the articles our contractors deliver us are spinned content or not. We would not accept spinned articles if we pay for unique content 🙂 Do you know any good spinned content checker that we can use? If possible, please post 2-3 software, free or paid, so we can use them simultaneously to check the articles. Thanks in advance

Templated content = duplicate content?
I'm curious where the line is drawn for "duplicate content" by the search engines. Obviously the same article, or even the same article with minor edits, can and should be detected as duplicate. I have a use case where there is a database of similar, but not duplicate, content that changes as time passes. I want to serve this content up via html template but don't want the 1000 pages to be considered duplicates of each other. Example: Imagine local weather. You could create a template for city name, longitude, latitude, altitude, and current weather conditions. The values for all fields would be different for each of the 1000 database entries (cities) and one of the "current weather conditions" would change frequently (hourly, let's say). Now, if I have a nice heirarchical index pages (first one maybe points to 50 state sub-pages, and each state page points to 20 city pages) that point to the 1000 city-specific pages, would the city-specific pages be considered 'duplicate' since they are based on the same HTML template but all have different values in key areas? Does the answer change based on the % of the template (or visible text) that changes for each city? My goal is to get these 1000 subpages as part of my site, have them indexable, and have them each flow a little bit of link juice to my home page. Best practices? What should I be careful of? Thanks!
