High Quality Guest Blog Swapping
-
I have tried checking out a few of the big guest blogging sites out there but every time I create a killer article the site that offers to publish it is normally some suspiciously spammy side with a low Moz score.
Does anyone know any sites where guest bloggers can link up to swap high quality blog posts. Maybe one that requires some filtering of poor quality host blogs?

Thanks for the advice guys.
I am just putting together a list of sites that I want to approach. I sent out a few test emails last night so hopefully should get some replies today!

This is (unfortunately) a big issue with blog sites. How are you attempting to find sites to publish your content? When we first started searching for blogs, we would look for the top blogs in our niche on the SERPs. We would Google terms like "top HR blogs" or "best HR blog" and then check out the results. If they are a good blog, they are going to rank well in the SERPs, so they are fairly easy to find. You can also specify your search by adding modifiers such as intitle:keyword.
Most of these sites, however, are very high quality, and don't readily accept submissions. They are still worth trying though, because if you can submit content you get a powerful, trustworthy, relevant link back to your site. From my experience it seems that posting content under a high ranking strictly <your niche="">blog is better than posting under a <your niche="">category of a bigger, more general, all-purpose blog.</your></your>
If you don't find any sites you want to and are able to contribute to, you can also use resources such as BloggerLinkUp or HelpAReporter, which try to help connect the content publishers with the writers.

Yep, that can be an issue with the guest blogging sites. Anything that's easy has a tendency to get overrun with spammers. For the most part you'll have to sift through the offers just the way you're doing.
The long hand way is to research potential publishers before you write, see which ones may accept guest posts, and then tailor your post to be worthy of that blogger's acceptance on his or her blog.

Engagement - but high bounce rate?
Hey gang. So I am a writer/amateur SEO/outreach guy for my agency. We have a client that fixes garage doors only in the the city of Portland Oregon. I wrote him a blog (this is not the real title) Called 5 ways to fix my garage door fast. It is doing pretty well and getting over a thousand visitors a month. But we all know that people coming to that blog could be from anywhere in the world, and most likely are not going to purchase garage door repair service from my client. We all know that. And that's why the page has a 98% bounce rate, but an overall good time on page. My superior sat me down and told me that I have to stop writing content like this, because all the content we write should be location focused. He said having a high bounce rate like that is actually bad for the site and is not helping at all. What do you guys think? Is he spot on? Thank you!

Blog links: Going out or staying in?
I am a wedding photographer and have a "Venues" page on my website. Am I better associating the links to the venue's actual website or to a blog post featuring a wedding I did there? (PS: In the blog post there will be a post aiming at the venue's website.) Thanks!

When you are manually posting to blogs, how closely related does the content of the blog have to be to the website?
For instance, if the website is for a hotel, would it be acceptable to post on travel blogs?

Low quality links for Amazon product page=high rank?
I am wondering if there would be any benefit in using low cost link building gigs off of fiverr and seoclerks for specific Amazon product pages. The theory I have heard behind this is Amazon's authority is so high, that even the bad links pointing to the specific product page add to the SEO of the page. When google see's a product page on Amazon, they already assign it a high authority, so links help google see which page is the most popular in that niche, and ranks it. Amazon product pages already rank high in google search results, so the idea is this would give specific pages a little boost. Do you think this is a valid method for getting a specific amazon product page to rank high on google search? I understand this is not the normal type of question here, and it really only applies to Amazon product pages specifically, and not normal sites.

Should I remove links from my internal blog?
I have blogs/news sites on every one of my clients' websites (each representing a different business within the same industry - self storage). On each of these blog sites, I have a writer who places about 3-5 exact keyword match links (varying anchor text) to give interlink juice to the other off-site businesses owned by the client. Each of these blogs receive about five posts per week. I am sure this is mega-over-optimizing and a stupid thing to do considering penguin. So, my questions are: Moving forward - 1. Should i stop adding so many blog articles to each site? 2. How many interlinking anchor texts should I use per blog? 3. Should I go back and either get rid of all those interlinks on past blogs or just trash the blog articles altogether? Please help if you can - I very much appreciate the responses best bd

Links from Related Sites with Low PR or semi-related sites with High PR?
Is it better to get a link from a site with lower PR but related content or higher PR but semi-related or unrelated content? For example, if I sell shoes, would a link from a PR1 or PR2 shoe or apparel site be better or a link from PR4 website that sells books be better? I'm not talking about sites with completely unrelated content, but how relevant is PR in obtaining relevant links if I am trying to raise the PR and rankings of my own site?
