Duplicate Page Title
-
I am seeing pages show up in my campaign Errors report for Duplicate Page Title.
One for example states that this page:
https://www.inprocorp.com/AboutInPro/AboutUs/HistoryTimeline/tabid/316/Default.aspx
has a duplicate page title as this page:
https://www.inprocorp.com/AboutInPro/HistoryTimeline/tabid/316/Default.aspx
I have a redirect setup so that if you access page #2, you are redirected to page #1. So how do I get errors like this to drop off my report? Have I not fixed the problem sufficiently for the crawler?
Thanks,
John

Hi John,
Thanks for writing in and sorry for the confusion. We start each crawl completely from scratch, so we should be picking up the 301 redirect now if it has been there for a few weeks.
I downloaded the crawl diagnostics CSV and it is definitely not showing the redirect from one page to the other, but I can definitely see the redirect when I use the developer tools in my browser. I have never seen the crawler have issues detecting a redirect before, so this seems very strange to me. I am going to have to send this over to our engineers so we can investigate the issue further. I will create an email request in our system so I can get a few more details from you and send the campaign information over to them. You should be receiving an email from me shortly.
Thanks,
Chiaryn

Ok good to know. I think though still, this should be easily answered by the Moz product folks to explain how they look at things like this. It will be helpful in understanding the reports. I would assume that once you have the 301 in place, the Moz report should be fine, but maybe they are looking at something else and if they are - that data should be in the crawl report.
Glad you asked this question!

Yes, the crawl occurred before the 301, but the redirect has been in place now for several crawls and it is still showing up. Looking for links pointing to the old URL is a good suggestion. I'll see if I can find any of those. Thanks.

Did the crawl occur before you had the 301 setup? The other thing is that if you have any links on your site pointing to the old URL, update them to point to the new one.
I know that in GWT that it takes a while sometimes for things like this to clear up even after you have a 301, but not as familiar with how Roger treats it within Moz.

You can use the canonical tag as Guy mentioned, but the redirect you have in place should serve your purpose.

no need to redirect.
use the canonical tag to tell search engines which is the real page and which are its' duplicate.

Multiple campaigns for similar pages
Hello, Moz family! I am fairly new to the SEO game, so this question may be irrelevant. Here is a little context to begin; the business I am serving has an overview page (see below), which I have started a campaign for. On the overview page, there are 10 different links that can take the user to a specific page. It is hard to gather rankings for these keywords because there are so many different pages we link to. I guess what I am asking is, is the only way to gauge keywords across multiple pages is to start multiple campaigns? I hope this makes sense, but if I need to clarify more please let me know! Thanks in advance!

On page SEO Report Sucks
Hey. I'm trying to get a PDF of the on page report so I can see a list of each issue. This works well if you're logged in and just navigate through the different tabs, but not so well if you export. All I get is an overview of the number of the priority issues, but not the URLs and the specific problems. I know you can export a CVS, but that's not a very good branded way to export this. What I'd like to do is export a report that is fairly gainular so I can provide "before and after" reports for work we completed. As is stands now, I have an overview PDF which sucks and can't provide any more details or a CVS which has all the details in the world, but is so in depth it's hard to navigate, especially for clients who don't know what they're looking at, not to mention it's not branded!!! There should be way more options for reporting here. Please let me know if you can do something about this or if I'm just missing something. Thanks. Micha

Received emails about new ranking, crawl and on page reports, but nothing new shows.
Yesterday morning I had emails about updated crawl, ranking and on page reports being available however nothing in my dashboard is newer than 2/21. I waited through yesterday to see if things changed, logged in and out etc but nothing new has shown up. Any ideas on why that is the case?

Duplicate Content Report: Duplicate URLs being crawled with "++" at the end
Hi, In our Moz report over the past few weeks I've noticed some duplicate URLs appearing like the following: Original (valid) URL: http://www.paperstone.co.uk/cat_553-616_Office-Pins-Clips-and-Bands.aspx?filter_colour=Green Duplicate URL: http://www.paperstone.co.uk/cat_553-616_Office-Pins-Clips-and-Bands.aspx?filter_colour=Green**++** These aren't appearing in Webmaster Tools, or in a Screaming Frog crawl of our site so I'm wondering if this is a bug with the Moz crawler? I realise that it could be resolved using a canonical reference, or performing a 301 from the duplicate to the canonical URL but I'd like to find out what's causing it and whether anyone else was experiencing the same problem. Thanks, George
