Moz crawl sees meta description but there are none
-
I have a new site I have run a starter crawl on. The crawl came back saying some of the pages do indeed have meta descriptions. When I go to the same page and use the Moz Chrome toolbar it says they do not have meta descriptions. I also know they do not have meta descriptions. Are there any instances in which the Moz crawler would see them when they are not there?

Problem "solved". Found out that the pages in question were timing out. So although they did not have meta descriptions the crawler, I imagine in order to not track them as missing descriptions when it doesn't know, defaults to FALSE.
Now to get working on site speeds...

Hello Carlo, I appreciate the response. The point I was making was that there are NO meta description manually created for the site in question. So the Moz Tool bar was correct. It was the crawler that is showing there were descriptions when there were indeed NO descriptions entered for any of the content. Yet that is.
Been using Moz for years and have not seen many instances where a site is crawled and it says there are descriptions crafted when there are not or where the tools produce different results.

Hi SBX Media,
I would not be overly concerned. There may be a slightly longer delay in the Chrome toolbar updating this data.
How can you confirm this?
If the crawl reported meta descriptions (yay!) then type the following into a Google search (without quotes)
"site:www.domain.com"
then hit search. You will be able to see whether the search engine has updated the meta descriptions-- if it has, that confirms the toolbar uses a different means of analysis-- it may just take a little bit more time.
Hope that helps,
Carlo

Site crawl only shows homepage
Hi everyone, A client of us has a quite new website with a lot of URLs. (Google Search Console indicates around 5300.) However, when I execute a site crawl with screaming frog, or a crawl test in MOZ, it only shows me one URL, the homepage. Does somebody have an idea why the other pages of the website are not showing up? Thanks,

I have reviewed the source and cannot use any http: resources.

Site Crawl report show strange duplicate pages
Beginning in early in Feb, we got a big bump in duplicate pages. The URLs of the pages are very odd: Example URL:
Moz Bar | | Neo4j
http://firstname.lastname@website.com/dir/page.php
is duplicate with http://website.com/dir/page.php I checked though the site, nginx conf files, and referral pages, and could not find what is prefixing the pages with 'http://firstname.lastname@'. Any ideas? The person whose name is 'Firstname Lastname' is stumped as well. Thanks.0 -
How can I find duplicate pages from a Moz Crawl?
We have many duplicate pages that show up on the Moz Crawl, and we're trying to fix these but it's very difficult because I can't see a way to isolate the code where the duplicate is found. For instance, http://experiencemission.org/immersion/ is one of our main pages, and the crawl shows one duplicate of http://experiencemission.org/immersion. It appears that one of our staff manually edited the source code in one of our pages but forgot the trailing slash. This would be an easy fix but the problem is that this page is linked to internally on our website 2423 times, so it's next to impossible to find the code that is incorrect. We have many other pages with this same basic problem. We know we have duplicates, but it's next to impossible to isolate them. So my question is this: When viewing the Moz Crawl data is there any way to see where a specific duplicate page link is located on our website? Thanks for any and all help!

Suggestion: Moz Domain Authority should take disavow into account
Since Moz is trying to predict how Google ranks your site, and Google claims to take the disavow file into account, I'd like to suggest that Moz allow webmasters to upload their disavow file. I imagine this data would be useful to Moz in determining Domain Authority (they may even think of other ways to use it and might even help come to a conclusion on the great debate) and it gives a chance for sites to improve their Moz DA when they are bombarded by spammy links. I'd love to hear the community's thoughts on this idea, as well as the what Wizards of Moz have to say.

MOZ Onpage grade and Google ranking.
I have found for years that there is not necessarily any connection between the onpage given by Moz and the SEO ranking. "F" page can be #1 in Google for long periods of time, and "A" pages can be unranked. I do not see the consistency, so I am unsure how much time to spend optimizing as suggested. I know there are many factors in rankings, but I just wanted to point out that this lack of consistency makes me hesitate to make changes to well-ranking pages -- especially with algorithm changes happening all the time. It seems that everything is considered over-optimization of late, even if it is all natural language. It is hard to NOT use words or synonyms sometimes on pages, for example... Thank you for your great product. I just want to know how my time to spend on this matter or turn my attention to off-page factors where the inconsistency is hard to figure out.

Since the revised website was launched, I can't find the "Crawl Test" function showing Titles and Descriptions of other websites. Anyone know where that link is located?
MOZ can "crawl" any website and show information like Title, Description, etc.....Can't find that link.
