Ok to ignore Overly-Dynamic URL from Moz crawl?
-
I am developing an ecommerce site, just ran it through the Moz crawl to see what's what and it has come back with a lot of issues. Most of these issues are around duplicate page titles (it is not happy with paginated titles, ie Shoes, Shoes Page 2, Shoes Page 3 etc) and it has also found a lot of Overly-Dynamic URL's. Again, these seem to be from some of the search functions and filters used Accessories&pto_sort=priceAsc&pto_page=6 other than spending a lot of time and effort trying to rewrite these urls there is little I can do about them.
Should I just ignore this? I wouldn't imagine it having a massive impact on the rankings of the pages.
Thanks,
Carl

Thanks, Mike
Will check out the link you posted. I have added a lot of the filtering options - price ascending, descending and all the related page 2's and onwards to a no crawl file for Google (and Roger Bot) so hopefully that helps. Have also replaced a lot of the html filtering options with menus which cannot be crawled so will wait for the next Moz crawl and see if that's helped matters.
Regards,
Carl

Hi Carl,
For the pagination issue, depending on the page content, you can either leave it "as is" or you can use one of the 3 methods referenced on SearchEngineLand.com for managing pagination.
And if it is a lot of different filtering and search results pages, you could choose to noindex, nofollow them (unless you want these types of pages to show up in Google's SERP) which would resolve your crawl issues with Moz.
You are correct in stating that these probably won't have a massive impact on rankings. For these types of issues, it more or less comes down to how tight you want to run your ship.
Hope this helps.
Mike

Blocking Subdomain from Google Crawl and Index
Hey everybody, how is it going? I have a simple question, that i need answered. I have a main domain, lets call it domain.com. Recently our company will launch a series of promotions for which we will use cname subdomains, i.e try.domain.com, or buy.domain.com. They will serve a commercial objective, nothing more. What is the best way to block such domains from being indexed in Google, also from counting as a subdomain from the domain.com. Robots.txt, No-follow, etc? Hope to hear from you, Best Regards,

Crawl erros I don't understand
Hi all, after my website is crawled SEMOZ has alerted me about some errors (28 exactly) with the same problem: http://piensapiensa.com/servicios/talleres-para-docentes/taller-sobre-como-motivar-a-los-alumnos/Piensa_Piensa 404 : Error At the end of the URL you can see "Piensa_Piensa" which I haven't added at all. It's present in all URLs that have reported as error by SEOMOZ. The CMS that has been used to create the website is wordpress. what does it mean? Many thanks

Static content VS Dynamic changing content
We have collected a lot of reviews and we want to use them on our Categories pages. We are going to be updating the top 6 reviews per categories every 4 days. There will be another page to see all of the reviews. Is there any advantage to have the reviews static for 1 or 2 weeks vs. having unique new ones pulled from the data base every time the page is refreshed? We know there is an advantage if we keep them on the page forever with long tail; however, we have created a new page with all of the reviews they can go to.

Full Crawl, now what?
Hi, Ok, I logged in this morning to see my full crawl of over 250 pages. I must admit I was expecting an email to inform me and to perhaps outline what my next steps should be. During the last 7 days I have fixed most of the pages that had errors and also added more keywords, just like what was suggested when I first signed up. So, is there a suggested plan of action I should now take to help increase the rankings, perhaps I'm missing this from the email or something? Thanks!

Page URL Hiearchy
So I have read on here that page URL Hiearchy is important. My question is from a search engine standpoint which of the following methods would be the best to use (or another if not listed) COMPACT and naturally hierarchical MountainBiking.com MountainBiking.com/adventures ( a list of the pages below ) MountainBiking.com/adventures/in whistler (for each page) MountainBiking.com/adventures/in utah OR VERBOSE but reptetive MountainBiking.com MountainBiking.com/Mountain Biking adventures ( intro + a list of the pages below ) MountainBiking.com/Mountain Biking Adventures/Mounting Biking adventures in whistler MountainBiking.com/Mountain Biking Adventures/Mountain Biking Adventures in Utah It seemed like the blog I read suggested the compact form, but it seems to me that the verbose (though admittedly a bit clunky) seems better so far as exact keyword match etc. Experience and or advice on this?

SEOmoz crawl error
Hi, I'm getting a crawl error and it complains about there being missing meta description... But, the errors are all for non existent index files in directories that only contain pdf files and some thumbs of the front page... Just started trying to learn this stuff...! Cheers Rod
