Your tips on giveaways/competitions.

Hi guys i would like to hear what your tips are on keeping the "professional" competition enterers from flooding your facebook competitions and how you attract quality entries.
I've noticed by looking at entry profiles on Facebook roughly 90% of entries i'm receiving are the "stay-at-home-mom-self-proclaimed-professional-competition-enterer" that do nothing other than enter competitions all day...every day.
Are they still of any value in your opinion? (other than driving traffic to your site etc)
Ciao,
Immanuel.

Just thought I would mention a few things I have tried in the past. Same competition and prizes
Firstly - I sent out an email version of a newsletter with the competition. I had 1 response to the competition.
Secondly - I send out the same newsletter to 300 people in hard copy - I received 50 entries.
Thirdly - I put the competition on Facebook. Received an overwhelming response - most by referral from other people entering. I end pulling it off Facebook as it was attracting people from outside my target market. These competitions are listed quickly on competition websites.
So in answer to your question - if your target market is stay at home mums then facebook is a great tool.
What exactly is your objective for the competition. Is it
a) To promote your brand to your existing client base
b) Gain new potential clients.
c) Grow the number of facebook likes your business has.
Depending on your objective will depend on your strategy.
If you are in a specialized technical industry ask for 50 words on a particular item / industry vision. This will weed out a lot. Those it doesn't you can usually pick up if they do / do not know what they are talking about.
Maybe you could post the competition on Linkedin - at least then you have a better fit for your target market.

Facebook Page - About/Description/General About/Mission - Questions
Hi, Im just setting up a FB fan page for a client How terrible is it to use clients websites home page descriptive copy as the Facebook page long description ? Language is in Turkish which i don't speak so i'm not able to edit a new version of it just for FB and no budget to hire Turkish speaker to come up with something. So was going to copy & paste but that would be duplicate with HP obviously. How important is it to fill in 'Mission Statement' & 'General About' ? Especially if long description likely to already include that info ? I think long descrip is important for FB pages on seo etc etc but a good one eliminates importance of 'Mission' & 'General About', or is it still advisable to fill these in or are they just extra boxes for flexibility ? I take it when it comes to securing a vanity url (once we hit 25+ fans) for a foreign language version FB page it should ideally be brand name (which includes a keyword) in the local/target language ? The page name is already the brand name in English but since contains keyword is it best to rename into local target language similarly to the url for consistency and local targeting or better to keep one in Turkish and one in English ? Many Thanks Dan

Facebook: reaching audience who have liked / shared my content
Hi, I am new to social, so the question might be a bit beginner. If I put a like / share / recommend button on my site, or maybe a comment box, how can I reach audiences at a later time, who have interacted with my plugins (liked/shared/commented)? Paid ads would be one solution, but for now I am interested in organic (free) targeting. So if people who share my content do not become fans at the same time, how can I engage them in new updates about my page? Thanks for thoughts.

I have 3 different niches - Should I create 3 different Social Profiles/hubs?
So I have 3 completely different niches. As in B2B vs. B2C, as well as markets that are not related whatsoever. Unless your grandmother that likes to sew, just so happens to also love to demolish giant buildings (lol, I never thought about how polar opposite my niches were until I re-read that sentence). Anyways, I guess the company should also have profiles/hubs, but what about for Outreach? I feel like outreach should be done by a personal profile, since outreach is all about networking and building relationships. Any direction/help/tips here? Thanks everyone, Tyler A.

Ways to get the most out of your content/blog posts?
I've been working on posting more content on my blog and now I need a workflow to help me get more exposure on my posts. Currently this is what I'm doing: 1- Write Post 2- Add it to my favorites in Stumbled Upon 3- Post it to Facebook 4- Pin it in Pinterest I would love some more ideas. My goal at this point is to gain greater web exposure. I would love to be they type of blog others actively follow.

Identifying Social Activity of Competition in Open Site Explorer.
Analysing the competition in Open Site Explorer, as you all know the results come back with the following detail: Facebook Shares Facebook Likes Tweets Google +1 There is no link through to the pages that have liked, followed or tweeted the URL. I want to understand what the competition is doing in moire detail. How are these numbers actually defined? Is their any way (or whats the best way) to identify the individual pages that the numbers refer to? Thanks in advance. Justin

Does it make sense to have one facebook/twitter account for multiple websites?
If you have several different websites with related themes, does it make sense to just have a facebook or twitter page for the company to make managing the account more manageable?

Social Accounts/Networks Multiple account management?
Having tried Yoono and Tweetdeck I'm leaning towards Tweetdeck for ease of use.... Managing 5 facebook accounts, 9 facebook pages and 6 twitter accounts at the moment... Any other suggestions for tool or software I should consider?
