Manual action and no ranking impact?
-
Hello,
I received the message in Google Webmasters Tools about unnatural links to site (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UFHCw4Q_FQ) for two of my websites. I have a hard time undestanding why since I don't buy links, I don't do link exchanges and I don't directories or article directories.
Anyways, I received this message on Friday and I didn't lose any rankings on either of those sites or at least not on my main keyword which is the only one that matters.
Is it normal that I didn't lose any rankings?
Would you advise I do anything specific?
Thanks a lot.

Another thing:
When I click to read the message in webmaster's tools, I get a message saying that I used link spam and I get this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UFHCw4Q_FQ
As an illustration of my situation.
Now when I go to the search traffic tab and click on manual action, it tells me that some of my links are suspicious and that they may have been made by someone else than me. Because of that the manual action will be to stop taking those links into account. The video I get as an illustration is that one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Y74Op_k6UY
Which is a lot less alarming.
Also it says:
Impact on the whole site: none
Impact on a part of the website: yes. And then they give me reasons for it.
So my question is: should I expect to lose rankings because it's the first video that applies to my case, or should I expect some links to not being taken into account anymore because it's the second video that applies to me?
Thanks.

What happened to my ranking
Hi trying to rank for "liverpool wedding photographer" as my main keyword. my profile is mainly wedding blogs and photography blog comments, a few "featured weddings" from wedding blogs , directory links and I have also a few guest post blogs. Goy myself all excited in December by getting to 4th position and then followed that up by around 35 links in one week. So expecting my ranking to stabilise or even go up I watched my site slowly sink to a current position of 7th, over January, even as the new links kicked in. a weird thing happened in this period as the following sites where I had left one comment on a blog post ended up giving me links from nearly all the other posts they had written: http://www.richardbernabe.com/blog/2012/12/04/iceland-bound-again/ http://blog.leica-camera.com/2014/12/03/andrew-kaufman-documenting-the-disappearing-street-art-of-wynwood/ http://jnack.com/blog/2015/01/04/when-will-wearable-cameras-be-a-thing/ webmaster tools is indicating I have 374 links from the leica site, 174 links from the richardbernabe site and 77 from the njack one. They are all different blog posts! I have disavowed all three domains. Can anyone explain what has caused this multiplication of links from these particular sites? Also could my link spree have caused a penalty? Best wishes. David. http://jnack.com/blog/2015/01/04/when-will-wearable-cameras-be-a-thing/

Back links do I need my keyword in them to rank? If so creative way to accomplish this?
The first question is pretty self explanatory. If I do need my keyword I'm trying to rank for in my link example: Looking for a cool skateboard (cool skateboard) is my keyword. Can anyone on here help me come up with some creative ways for me to get folks to post backlinks to my site with that key word in it? Unfortunately my sites url does not have the keyword in my domain.

How can a site with no content, non SEO optimized or any value rank better?
I understand there are many more variables to rank #1, but this site is currently #1 for one of our top keywords and I really don't understand what they Competior site barely has 200 words on any given page, very few content other than images with no ALT tags, titles, No H1 tags. in other words the website is not SEO optimized. My site has content, product descriptions, images, relevant titles, and definitely more optimized than competitor. My site VS competitor Total pages: 246 (me) vs 49 (them) Page Authority: 34 vs 26 MozRank: 5.3 vs 4.5 MozTrust: 5.7 vs 5.4 Domain Authority: 22 vs 17 External Links: 65 vs 7 Internal Links 152 vs 1 Followed Links 14 vs 5 More C-Blocks 14 vs 4 Total Social Shares: 127 vs 4

Does Google drop links from page rank N/A sources?
Hi Everyone,
Link Building | | AMA-DataSet
I've started doing some link analysis on one of my site that has over nearly 800 links in total (which I got from the webmaster tools downloading the latest links). When I go on to Google and use the "link:www.mysite.com" directive it will only display 12 links. Does this mean Google is only counting 12 links from the link profile? Iv checked the freshness of some the links it wasn't displaying within Google to check they hadn't all expired. Links from march 2013 still don't appear. This sites link profile has been untouched for at least a year now and is full of directories many of which have a page rank of N/A hence my question. (I'm surprised it hasn't been hit by penguin!) Thanks in advance.0 -
Linkbuilding actions?
Hi there! My cliente has a website about a kitesurf camp and I'm trying to do the linkbuilding strategy. Some actions that I've carry out: Looking for forums in which people talk about this issue and the services, trips and products the companies offer. The strategy of the company is to focus on the french, english and german market although its main market is in Spain. Are there any risks if we participate in out-of-spain forums? I mean regarding SEO. Should we benefit more from the spanish market in terms of SEO Looking for websites that are willing to put or exchange a link in its site in order to gain more visibility (on our behalf). I guess this action is complicated. I doesn't depend on us. Looking for well known directories in which I can anounce the services of this company. I've posted here about this before. Some tell me that is ok but doeesn't have enough relevancy to be present in the directories. Looking for blogs of the "industry" that give us some insght and try to make any comment on them with a link to our site (if permitted and are followed link). We don't have the enough background in this issue to write a post on a blog or have our own blog to generate enough, freesh and up-to-date content about this topic. I guess I'm missing something. Any suggestion about how could I lead the linkbuild strategy? Thanks in advanced.

Multiple Links from High Ranking Site Vs. Links from Multiple Domains - What's More Important?
I understand it is important to get links from many quality domains. Currently, I do have links from top domains (PR, Trust) and it I can get more from (high rank) pages on these same domains. Would it be better to focus on expanding my reach (find additional domains to link from) or to continue to build links from the current domains I have a connection with? What is weighted more? I realize doing both is important, but trying to figure out how to best use my time. Thanks! David

SEOs and web developers frequently leave links to their site in the footer of their clients' sites. Does this negatively impact the site with the links?
Does this provide any SEO value to the receiving site? Has anyone experienced problems doing this?
