Which address do I use for citations
-
Hello,
When I created my google places, I entered my address and when I got my google places activated I noticed that the address google places was displaying was a short abbreviation of my address. So my question is when it comes to creating citations for my listing do I grab the address google places generated for me in the listing or the long version of my address? I've just heard when it comes to creating citations, you need to make sure it is identical across the board. I hope this makes sense.
Thanks!

My pleasure!

Awesome! Thank you so much!

Hi Stewart,
So, in your hypothetical example, the only difference is W vs. West. This is the type of thing that I don't believe matters at all to Google. It is my opinion that they know that W = West, so I would not be concerned about citation consistency in this regard. To be on the safe side in building new citations, you can choose to build them with the 'W', as Google typically uses this abbreviation, but if you have old citations that use 'West', I wouldn't be worried about this. What would be a problem is if you were missing a suite number or something like that. But small differences like this one do not appear to make any difference. Hope this helps!

Hi Miriam,
So when I created my google places I entered the full address ex. 123 West Fake Street, Fakeville, CA 12345 and when I got it activated it started showing in the google listing as 123 W Fake St Fakeville, CA 12345. So my question was when it comes to creating citations, what address should I use, the full address or the short abbreviation of my address. Hope thanks makes sense.

Hi Stewart,
Are you able to be more specific? I want to be sure I'm understanding exactly what you mean by Google abbreviating your address. It could be nothing to worry about or something concerning, depending on what you are describing. Thanks!

Can you elaborate on this "Googe Places < Google+ Page"?
-
The short answer? Yes. Grab the same address Google Places is using. On a side note you have created your Google+ page haven't you? It took me the longest time to realize that Googe Places < Google+ Page.

Importance of WMT change of address and problem doing it
Hi, How important is it to submit a change of address in WMT? I say that because I am having problems doing it so wondered if it was worth the hassle in trying to fix it. I am getting the error: "We couldn't verify website.co.uk. To submit a change of address, website.co.uk must be verified using the same method as www.website.co.uk. Add website.co.uk to your account and verify ownership, then try again." I have looked on the web to try and find an answer and have come across 2 suggestions: You might have lost the verification with the redirect. If you used a metatag on the home page, the home page is now redirecting. If you had uploaded a verification text file, that file is probably now gone and redirecting as well. You probably need to re-verify the site. Either re-upload the text file and configure it not to redirect (may be difficult) or use the DNS server verification method. You need to verify the non www. version of the website because that's the way Google like it. Not sure why solution 2 would be necessary but it does seem to be what WMT are getting. Because the site already redirects, 1 would then come in to play. Is it worth persevering with because IT will be getting a long list of stuff to do from me as it is.... Thanks all

Using a Feedburner RSS link in your blog's header tag
It was suggested in Quick Sprout's Advanced SEO guide that it's good form to place your Feedburner RSS link into the header tag of your blog. Anyone know if this needs to be done for every page header of the blog, or just the home/main/index page? Thanks

Is a 302 useful here?
We have a site that had one super successful viral video a couple of years back and basically the site needs a ton of work to even be functional. We don't have the time or the resources to even touch it. Our video is still getting tons of views today and I'm fairly certain it's the only reason the site still gets traffic. Most of the views come from youtube which prompts them to check out the site. We plan on going back to the site at a later date, but for now wanted to redirect it to another site of ours. In this case is it best practice to 302? or is a 301 still the proper solution?

Have you used the Addthis Widget and had your rankings drop
Just wondering what experience people have of this widget? I added it to a site I look after late last week and we took an noise dive over the weekend. Any thoughts / comments are appreciated!

Using Drupal to Author Websites across 2 Domains
I am new to Drupal and as an organization we are considering using it to author both our corporate site and our blog. In the future we'd like our blog to live at a separate domain and I understand Drupal is capable of publishing across 2 domains. Does anyone know of any SEO implications to this type of infrastructure set up? Are there specific things to be mindful of when setting up the Drupal CMS across 2 domains? thanks for the assistance!

Does using parentheses affect the crawlers?
Quick question: if you using a parantheses around a keyword, do search bots still recognize the keyword? Fox ex: Welcome to a website about the National Basketball Association (NBA). Will the bots recognize that I'm trying to optimize to NBA and not (NBA)? Is this different for tags vs. actual body copy?

Is there any issue with using the same structured data property multiple times on the same page?
Im working on implementing structured data properties into my product detail pages. (http://schema.org/Book) My site sells books and many books have both a 13 digit ISBN # and a 10 Digit ISBN. Should I apply the itemprop "isbn" to both of them or just the one with higher search volume? Some books also have multiple authors, how should I handle that?
