Is this a good place for back links? On elf my newest customers has about 59 or so and I'm afraid they are spam. Any help is appreciated.

I have a website showing very well with Google right now and this site has a SLEW of back links going to industry.com. I guess it's just a matter of time before Google figures this out and slaps the site with a manual spam application.
I have had several of my sites slapped and 2 have had the application removed, one is now showing in the #1 and #2 position for the most important terms, the other has not recovered and I am thinking about taking it down and starting fresh with a new domain.
A third has been slapped and I can not for the life of me to get the manual spam application removed.

Industry.com looks to me like a directory site where you are encouraged to pay for advertising.
On many pages, it appears that a link like "Label Printer" is just displaying Google Adsense, and trying to get people to click on ads. (See screenshot.)
My $0.02 is that the industry.com site appears to me to be a directory, and the kind that Google is trying to penalize people for using for links. I would avoid this, as it probably won't do a lot to help, and could wind up hurting the site with spammy looking links.
That said, Industry.com has a 39 domain authority, and 162 linking root domains coming into the site.

Is Industry.com a repository for spammy back links or is this a good place for back links? One of my customers has about 59 or so back links there and I'm concerned they are spam

Dodgy links across top ranking sites in a certain industry - Could this be negative link building?
Hi, I've noticed repeated low value / high spam backlinks directing to a site that I manage, and despite disavowing, new links showing similar anchor text keep appearing. See sample in the table below: <colgroup><col width="514"> <col width="407"> <col width="364"></colgroup>

Is this thumbtack.com pop-up modal allowed by Google?
When you click on a Thumbtack organic result, there's a pop-up modal on the landing page. Is this allowed by Google? E.g. Go to these SERPS and click on the first Thumbtack result. The landing page has this modal appear. Is this likely to hurt their rankings?

How to consolidating my domains to the .com
Hey Mozers, Just watched Rands white board friday about consolidating domains https://moz.com/blog/rebrand-or-redirect-my-site-consolidate-multiple-sites-whiteboard-friday I would like to consider looking at consolidating my cctld's zenory.co.nz and zenory.com.au over to zenory.com I have been told by our previous seo guy to go international eg. target USA, NZ and Australia. Consolidate into 1 website (your .com), and separate your website into different subfolders for each target country zenory.com/us/, zenory.com/au/, zenory.com/nz/. If I'm not really writing country specific content for the blog I could just keep 1 blog at zenory.com/blog/ Can anyone recommend a guide around the technical side of how to apply these changes without causing issues? Our website is custom built with wordpress being the blog. Any advice will be much appreciated Cheers

I am tempted to purchase a listing on an industry specific website directory with high domain authority. Will that be frowned upon as buying links?

More than one site in same industry
A client wants to have 3 sites in the same industry with a lot of overlapping keywords. Is that white hat? Will Google mind?

So what's up with UpDowner.com?
I've noticed these guys in link profiles for several sites I manage. They'll usually show up around 1,000-10,000 times in the backlink profile. From what I can tell they index websites, build up keyword relationships, and then when you search for something on their site (e.g. poker) they'll present a list of related sites with stats about them. The stats seem to be yanked straight from Alexa. Where the backlink comes from is that every time 'your' site shows up for a search result they'll put a little iframe that contains your site. This means if your site's name/keywords are pretty broad, you could be showing up thousands and tens of thousands of times as being linked from these guys on their pages that Google indexes. And Google indexes, boy do they ever. At the height, they had over 53 million pages indexed. That has apparently shrunk now to around 25 million. I believe their strategy is to generate a crap-load of automated content in the hopes they can cash in on obscure long tails. So my questions for you guys are: Are you seeing them in your backlinks too? Should I block their spider/referrers? What is their deal man?

Is warriorforum.com information reliable?
I see lots of ads like "Boost Your Trust Rank with pure .EDU Anchor Text Backlinks" Is this for real? And if it is what's the real value of such links? I assume they would be from some spam comments on some .edu blogs...right? Is it worth going this route? Thank you!

Yelp.com - How do they do this?
Yelp.com seems to dominate a lot of search results for a lot of reasons. Specifically, I've noticed that their internal search results URL appears in Google for tons of results like "hem jeans new york". They dominate TONS of terms like this and it's always an internal search result page for yelp that appears in #1 Google. From what I can tell, yelp.com is taking various keyword permutations from their internal search, combined with local city/zip info and creating such landing pages. Here is a URL result for "hem jeans new york" http://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=Hem+Jeans&find_loc=New+York%2C+NY My question is this...What are the specific causes of their success on this type of local / long-tail / specific keyword strategy? Is it... 1. Using dynamic sitemaps to feed Google thousands of URLs with various keyword permutations attached.? 2. Their domain reputation, inbound links, etc. etc. 3. Both? Something else? Thanks for your feedback.
