Will the Google juice flow after a redirect?

If someone links to this page :

Will the Google juice flow to this page?

Hi Sylvain
OK, if it is a 302 then no authority will be passed. A 302 redirect is an indicator that the redirection is temporary and therefore will change. Until the redirection is changed to a 301 (permanent) then no authority will be passed over from the backlink.
There is more info on redirection here: http://moz.com/learn/seo/redirection
Do you have access to the abonnes.hospimedia.fr sub-domain so you can update the redirection to be a 301?
Peter

Hi Peter,
Thanks for your answer but when I check the redirect with online tools, it says 302 not 301. Are you sure the authority is passed?
Thanks,
Sylvain

Hi Sylvain
Yes, it will, but you may lose some of the authority passed in the process.
See the answer by Matt Cutts to a similar question about this: http://www.marketingpilgrim.com/2010/03/google-confirms-301-redirects-result-in-pagerank-loss.html
I hope that helps,
Peter

How to avoid a redirect chain?
Hi there, I am aware that it is not good practice to have a redirect chain but I am not really sure hoe to do it (on Apache). I have multiple redirects in a chain because on the one hand I had to redirect because the content of the site got a new URL and because on the other hand I changed from http to https. Thus I have a chain like http://example.com via 301 to http://the-best-example.com via 301 to https://the-best-example.com via 301 to https://greatest-example.com Obviously I want to clean this up without loosing any link juice or visitors who had bookmarked my site. So, I could make three separate redirects: http://example.com via 301 to https://greatest-example.com

http://the-best-example.com via 301 to https://greatest-example.com
https://the-best-example.com via 301 to https://greatest-example.com But is there a way to combine it? Can I use an "OR" operator to link the 3 conditions to this one rule? Any other suggestions? Thanks a lot!!!0 -
PageRank flow and distribution?
I'm confused about PageRank flow inside a domain.. Please provide me with an well explained guide about flow of Pagerank as I know, i think it flows from homapage to internal pages and then internal pages to homepage. I think I'm wrong. Also, every page has its own PR, if I give backlinks to external website from my internal pages, is it going to impact the homepage's pr and authority? Highly confused.. 😕

Will you get more 'google juice' if your social links are in your websites header, rather than its footer?
Hi team, I'm in the process of making some aesthetic changes to my website. Its getting quite cluttered so the main purpose is to clean up its look. I currently have 3x social links in the header, right at the top, and i would really like to move these to the footer to remove some clutter in the header. My concern is that moving them may have an impact on the domains ranking in google. Website: www.mountainjade.co.nz We've made some huge gains against our competitors over the past 6 months and I don't want to jeopardise that. Any help would be much appreciated as i'm self taught in SEO and have learnt through making mistakes. This time however, with Moz, i'd rather get some advice before I make any decisions! Thanks is advance, Jake S

301 redirect not working
Hi there! I have recently moved a domain that has been indexed by google and setup redirects so that it forwards to the new domain. It seems like the only redirect that actually is working is the canonical and main domain but every other page and or page nested within a folder are not working. Here is an example of some of the redirects. Am I doing this wrong? It seems to be going to the new domain but can't find the actual pages.... RewriteEngine On

Redirect to new domain
We are moving our website from http://mysyncpad.com to http://syncpadapp.com The old site ranks pretty well for some specific keywords, will a 301 allow the new site to rank as well or will it be penalized by good for the transfer?

Hit by Google
My site - www.northernlightsiceland.com - has been hit by google and Im not sure why. The traffic dropped 75% last 24 hours and all the most important keywords have dropped significantly in the SERP. The only issue I can think of are the subpages for the northern lights forecasting I did every day e.g. http://www.northernlightsiceland.com/northern-lights-forecast-iceland-3-oct-2012/ I have been simply doing a copy/paste for 1 month the same subpage, but only changing the top part (Summary) for each day. Could this be the reason why Im penalized? I have now simply taken them all down minus the last 3 days (that are relevant). What can I do to get up on my feet again? This is mission critical for me as you can imagine. Im wondering if it got hit by this EMD update on 28 sept that was focusing on exact match domains http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/4501349-1-30.htm

Mobile redirection
Hi, What would be the best practice for mobile detection: Best practice for redirections Best practice for detection and inclusion of a front-end element inviting to a mobile version of the site I found this on www.W3C.org but it's from 2008 and I was wondering if any of you tried different approaches concerning mobile detection. Thanks! GaB

Is there any evidence that using Google Site Search will help your ranking, speed of indexing, or traffic?
I am considering using Google Site Search on our new site. I was told... "We have also seen a bump in traffic for sites when using Google Site Search because Google indexes the site more often (they claim using the paid Google Site Search has no effect on search rankings but we have also seen bumps in rankings after using it so that may just be what they have to say legally)." Is there any evidence of this? Would you recommend using Google Site Search? Thanks David
