What should we consider in Online reputation management - negative URL or Negative Keywords?
-
Hello All
I have a serious confusion in terms of the Negative Keywords & Positive Keywords vs Negative URLS and Positive URLS for ORM (Online Reputation Management).
Can any one please advise and explain why and what should I consider?
When we talk about ORM what exactly is more important? Negative Keywords or Negative URLS?- Among these two which is more important ?? Negative URLs or Negative Keywords.?
- Do we need to classify keywords as negative or positive? in the report?
- Do we need to classify URLs as negative or positive? in the report?
According to me and my fellow members either of them is actually most important but we all are stuck upon at one question "which one?"
Any help would be appreciated....

Hey Mike,
Thanks for responseI am not talking about any kind of reports at all... just have got confusion about the -ve & +ve keywords & URLs.....
-
Here is my take on your question:
-
Negative keywords are more important to monitor. If Google is suggesting "Your Brand sucks" as a search option... that is big problem to potential customers before even looking at search results. For someone to actually take the time to create a negative URL (or website dedicated to trashing your company), that is going to take a lot more work than just a bunch of poor reviews about your company.
-
I don't know what report you are referring to. Typically you will associate negative keywords in PPC campaigns if certain keywords are not bringing you the specific kind of traffic you are looking for.
-
Again, not sure what type of report you are talking about.
Hope this helps.
Mike

How to rank #1 for brand name when its 2 competitive keywords?
Hi Mozzers, I have recently began the SEO on a website which is a few years old, with little SEO done beforehand.
Branding | | Silkstream
I really want to get this domain ranking #1 for its brand name, however the brand name also happens to be a combination of two highly competitive keywords - one of them being "hire". I have done everything I can think of as a recommended step to signal Google, but it still sits between position #20 and position #15 (on a good day). So far I have:
Set up G+
Linked the website
Added Rel=publisher
Submitted site to Yell.com and a couple of other business directories
Added branded links from every the bio of each article on the blog pointing to the homepage.
Built a handful of branded links from related niche websites.
Set up social pages. Question:
What else can I do to improve on its position in the SERPS? More info:
The site ranks number 2 in Bing for the brand name. The domain is an exact match of two keywords without a hyphen between them - the site ranks position #1 for that search on Google. Question:
Would a hyphenated domain make any difference at all? Thanks everyone!0 -
How hard is it for a national brand to win for Superlative qualified non-brand keywords?
Is it worth trying to target non-brand keywords with qualifiers like: best, top, good? Naturally review or comparison sites are built to target these keywords/searches, but can big brands compete in this landscape? Does anyone have any good examples?

.NET VS .COM VS Keyword Density in the URL, What do you suggest?
I am about to launch an eCom project for a new company. The client has three URL's available. I recognize keyword density is slowly becoming less and less of a factor, but still has significant relevance. I haven't had much experience working on .NET URL's and would like to know anything related to the effects of .NET url's vs. .COM url's. Also, just what you would go with and why? Option 1 "EXACTMATCHKEYWORD.net" (17 total characters) Option 2 "MOSTLYMATCHINGKEYWORDcompany.com" (21 total characters, with company) Option 3 "ABEXACTMATCHKEYWORD.com" -AB represents the company's initials/logo. (19 total characters) USEFUL POINTS 1. 95% of purchases will be one time purchases (so I'm not focused as much on company branding as usual). 2. The company name is actually "exact matching keyword Company" 3. We will be targeting 100's of terms, but the "exact match keyword" represents 1/4 of total search volumes and thus is extremely important.

How to remove negative media that is effecting the barnd
We have a client that is a reorganised business and brand. But a newspaper has posted some negative video and that is coming up on 2nd position when you type in the client name in google. The client also paid a company to try and reduce its positioning but no joy yet on that front. The client is now thinking of rebranding his complete business he also have first page positions on his major keywords but the issue is that when a customer or potential customer reads that story etc it harms them and it will only get worse. The worst example being one of our salespeople sold 10 Items to a customer for £*k and before he got home the customer cancelled saying he had read the story on the internet!! Also our competitors use it in the home to rubbish them all the time. The market this year has been very tough for us and its half what it was last year What would be your advice please ? Should we go for a brand new site with no association with the current brand name? Or how can we remove that one site negative video, we have contacted the editor who has refused to take off the news by the way that news was posted last year.

What do search engines consider brand signals?
After being hit by the Penguin stick, like good content marketers we are trying to focus on improving brand signals for our site. But I keep coming up against what exactly brand signals are. I can understand that if you are called 'Ziggle' and someone links to you with that in anchor text or mentions that name, that would be a brand signal. But we're on a generic domain (descriptive of the produt type), so what would constitute brand signals in our case?
