Live Search tool for text on websites
-
Hi everyone,
Does anyone know of an online scanner / search tool that will do a live check for the occurance or a word or phrase on a website?
I know you can use Google's site:domainname.com <word phrase="">but that is only checking what Google has in its current index for that site. I am looking for a tool that will do a live scan and search (i.e. as at the time) and then return a list of occurances it has found for the word or phrase.</word>
Thanks in advance for this.

Thanks all for your responses on this. I do have Screaming Frog but not the paid version.
However, my need was fairly simple in that a client asked us to remove all references from their website to a location of one of their offices that they had now shut. So nothing black hat or detailed required. Rather I was just looking for a tool that would do a simple yet comprehensive search of their site so I could make sure we have removed all references.
Thanks though all of you for your help.

Another vote for Screaming Frog. Although you'll need the paid version to so this, it's such an incredibly useful tool, you'll want a license anyway.

You could use Screaming Frog to do something like this. Go to Configuration-> Custom and add the word or phrase you are looking for. Screaming Frog will collect URLs that have that word in the site HTML.

Naughty black hat scrapers do that. I'll let you find them as they are good for finding a multitude of things here is the wiki though :

Does optimization of PDF files for search matter in 2017?
Does optimization of PDF files for search matter in 2017? If yes, what is the optimal way to do it? Is there a risk that it will compete for rankings with the parent page that is it's linked to?

Does anyone know of a good keyword identification tool to be used on a particular piece of content?
I'm hoping for a tool that would extract keyword possibilities from an article, run them through a keyword popularity tool such as Google AdWords Keyword Planner and present ranked results (including number of monthly searches) to the writer. That would enable the writer to choose relevant popular keywords (especially phrases) in the web headline, page title and text. Does anyone know of such a tool? I'm considering having one built in-house if nothing already exists. How it might work Ideally, this might be a browser add-on. The user would highlight the story or blog text, and click on the browser add-on button to start the tool. Using something like viewer.opencalais, the text would plug into a keyword extraction tool and automatically run the results. In the next step the extracted terms would automatically plug into the Google AdWords Keyword Planner and run the results for “Keyword Ideas.” I think this can be done via the AdWords API: https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201402/TrafficEstimatorService?hl=fr The user would then be presented with a series of ranked keyword possibilities based on relevance and popularity. Why it’s useful This would make it far more efficient for busy journalists (or anyone) to write effective web headlines.

Bulk keyword competition tool?
The SEOmoz Keyword Difficulty tool is great, but the 5 keyword limit is too small. I need a tool that will allow checking the organic competition level of 100's of keywords (to help in selecting blog topics). Anyone know of such a tool?

Big discrepancy between search volume and actual traffic
I've been seeing this more and more... a page that ranks well for a great keyword but the traffic is much, much less than one would expect based on information from the Google Keyword Tool. The keyword gets 3600 searches locally, but the site, #9 on the SERP, got 11 visits last month. Does that sound like a plausible drop-off or is there something else at play? Thanks!

Keyword Difficulty Tool
Hello, I've been using the above more and more - with some great results. I have just run a report for a brand term and that brand has the new style sitelinks - 12 in total. So the output from the Keyword Difficulty Tool is focussed solely on the main url and then 9 sitelinks, rather than 10 different domains. Is there anyway around this? What do people think I should do? Is it: a) ok to use the output or b) because the output is skewed to one domain is the data not robust enough or... c) something else?? Thanks Alex
