Quality link not indexed after two months
-
Hi! Bit of an odd one, but I thought I's ask. Recently I wrote an article for Smashing Mag. It's was a great success and not really an SEO exercise at all, but after several weeks my author page hasn't been indexed (http://www.smashingmagazine.com/author/sam-wright/?rel=author). I just assumed give the quality of the site that it wouldn't take that long.
I know it's just a case of leaving it, by any thoughts on why its not been picked up?
-
Thanks all. The page is now being indexed.

As others have said, they have the NoIndex, Follow tag on the author page. So, this particular page won't appear in Google's index but Google will crawl the site and follow the links to your website listed on your page. No worries here, good link.

Hmm think I got it.
Authors listed in the www subdomain are not indexed, while authors listed in specific categories (coding, mobile, etc) are.
I guess at some point they decided to deindex authors but forgot about those, or the other way around...
-
Ah yes. I didn't check as some author pages are indexed. Eg http://coding.smashingmagazine.com/author/heydon-pickering/.
Very odd, but explained!
-
Ohhh, this was an easy one
Look at the page HTML, they have a robots no index tag on author pages so search engines won't index ANY author page but they do index your articles.

Any idea why pages are not being indexed?
Hi Everyone, One section on our website is not being indexed. The product pages are, but not some of the subcategories. These are very old pages, so thought it was strange. Here is an example one one: https://www.moregems.com/loose-cut-gemstones/prasiolite-loose-gemstones.html If you take a chunk of text, it is not found in Google. No issues in Bing/Yahoo, only Google. You think it takes a submission to Search Console? Jeff

How can I stop a tracking link from being indexed while still passing link equity?
I have a marketing campaign landing page and it uses a tracking URL to track clicks. The tracking links look something like this: http://this-is-the-origin-url.com/clkn/http/destination-url.com/ The problem is that Google is indexing these links as pages in the SERPs. Of course when they get indexed and then clicked, they show a 400 error because the /clkn/ link doesn't represent an actual page with content on it. The tracking link is set up to instantly 301 redirect to http://destination-url.com. Right now my dev team has blocked these links from crawlers by adding Disallow: /clkn/ in the robots.txt file, however, this blocks the flow of link equity to the destination page. How can I stop these links from being indexed without blocking the flow of link equity to the destination URL?

Is there a way to index important pages manually or to make sure a certain page will get indexed in a short period of time??
Hi There! The problem I'm having is that certain pages are waiting already three months to be indexed. They even have several backlinks. Is it normal to have to wait more than three months before these pages get an indexation? Is there anything i can do to make sure these page will get an indexation soon? Greetings Bob

Do Sitespect links get indexed?
I put a link on one of my websites using sitespect because the next release is not for a few weeks. The reason for the link is to pass domain authority (SEO Juice) to the linked site. In my next release I will add the link in the actual code, but am hoping that from now till then google will crawl and index this link. So the question is, will google crawl and index links adding to webpages via sitespect? Here is the code: | * [http://www.](<a class=)yourdomain.com" class="" >YourDomain |

No progress in 3 months!!
Hi All
Technical SEO | | mker
I have been using Moz for about 3 months now and love the tools and support. I have been working really hard on seo improvements, fixing lots of coding errors and adding content to my site. My last 3 keyword reports have been very disappointing. I have lost rankings in many of my keywords and some have been ranked very well for years. (talking google) I see only 2 factors that have changed. 1. My 'improvements' and 2. the google update. As everyone knows seo is very time consuming and I am so disappointed with my site going backwards after such a dedicated focus. An example would be the keyword 'christmas return address labels'. I am not even ranked in the top 100 and the last report put me down 50! Here is a link to my category page for funny christmas cards for another example: http://www.stonehousecollection.com/cards/funny-christmas-cards.html BTW I sell greeting cards and I am so frustrated that Zazzle seems to dominate every keyword and google shopping result. It seems they are gaming the system. P.S. If you are an seo professional I would be interested in your services as well. Thank you0 -
Too many on page links
Hi All, As we all know, having to much links on a page is an obstacle for search engine crawlers in terms of the crawl allowance. My category pages are labeled as pages with to many "one page" links by the SEOmoz crawler. This probably comes from the fact that each product on the category page has multiple links (on the image and model number). Now my question is, would it help to setup a text-link with a clickable area as big as the product area? This means every product gets just one link. Would this help get the crawlers deeper in these pages and distribute the link-juice better? Or is Google smart enough already to figure out that two links to the same product page shouldn't be counted as two? Thanks for your replies guys. Rich

Getting More Pages Indexed
We have a large E-commerce site (magento based) and have submitted sitemap files for several million pages within Webmaster tools. The number of indexed pages seems to fluctuate, but currently there is less than 300,000 pages indexed out of 4 million submitted. How can we get the number of indexed pages to be higher? Changing the settings on the crawl rate and resubmitting site maps doesn't seem to have an effect on the number of pages indexed. Am I correct in assuming that most individual product pages just don't carry enough link juice to be considered important enough yet by Google to be indexed? Let me know if there are any suggestions or tips for getting more pages indexed. syGtx.png
