How to create effective Backlinks and promote very small sites?
-
I want to create effective backlinks and promote websites with having only 8-15 pages with very poor/basic content. Where client is unable to provide content, increase number of pages etc. So kindly suggest..

**I want to ... promote websites ... with very poor ... content. **
Google devotes considerable resources to make sure these efforts fail.

Listen to Peter he is spot on.
If you are going to try and go down this approach, you will get nowhere and you will also have unhappy clients. Your client needs to really understand the new online search landscape and get thinking of what content can we deliver that will be of real value to our visitors.
As well as GREAT content you should also be building in best SEO practice to your content. Check out the Web Developer's SEO Cheat Sheet posted by Danny Dover - http://moz.com/blog/the-web-developers-seo-cheat-sheet-2013-edition.

Hi
Effective backlinks to a page are essentially votes of approval for that web page. If the pages you are trying to rank have poor/basic content then you are really going to struggle.
Gone are the days when you can just create backlinks all over from anywhere to point to your pages and give your site a boost in the rankings. With Google's latest updates to their algorithms and the advent of Penguin and Panda in the last couple of years, building backlinks from thin sites or to thin sites is not going to work and is likely to get your site penalised.
My advice would be to go back to your clients with citations from SEO experts that underline the issue they will have if they don't improve their sites with good quality content that engages with the people who would be looking for it. I'm sorry to say this, but the reality of this is that if they continue to ignore how SEO works and advice you have given them then they will continue to lose online.
I hope that helps,
Peter

Is it possible to block Moz from crawling sites?
Hi, is it possible to stop Moz from crawling a site at the server level? Not that I am looking to do this or anything, but here's why I'm asking. I have been crawling a site that is managed (currently by 2 parties), and I noticed that this week pages crawled went from 80 (last week) to 1 page!! I know, what? See my image attached... and the issues all went to zero "0"....! So is it possible that someone can't prevent Moz from crawling the site at the server level? I checked the robots.txt file on the site, but nothing there. I'm curious. dYNUwjd.jpg

Google and Open Site Explorer not showing as many links
I've noticed this past week that when you search for the links pointing to a given site, by using the "link:" operator, that Google not showing as many links as they use to. I noticed this also with Open Site Explorer, it is not showing the detail link information as much as it did before. Is Google trying to mask what we can view now on competitors backlinks? If so, how can we see the backlink building that our competitors are doing?

Why am I getting an access error when creating my first campaign?
The exact error message is: The change you wanted was rejected. Maybe you tried to change something you didn't have access to. I checked the Word Count and I am definitely <300 keywords. I have also made sure that the Branded Keywords are entered 1 per entry form. My cookies are clear and there should be no issue with my browser.

HTTPS In Open Site Explorer
Hey All I was hoping a friendly mozzer might help me out, heard they're hard to track down though 🙂 I see OSE automatically has the http:// for the URL you enter. Anyway to tell if an https:// version of a page has backlinks coming into it with OSE? Thanks! -Dan

How to Link build for our site
Hello, A client of mine has a site that gives advice to people. It's moderately competitive. It's a content site. Using Open Site explorer, I looked up competitor's top pages and backlinks, and there were things such as sites that were heavy on directories, sites heavily on editorial mension, sites on juicy topics that I don't want to cover, and the rest was pretty much junk. Just so that you know, I only link build with quality websites that look strong, long term, have a nice design, are high quality, and are not a directory (with a few exceptions) What's the standard way to link build with a site like this? We've got 7 articles of good content that is from me spending hours learning about the subject and using my skills as a life coach. Right now I'm just adding quality content and social media. I am not a top expert in the field, but I'm learning as much as possible. How do we link build?

Open Site Explorer Update
What is taking OSE so long to update? The update schedule said the next update was going to be on Dec 28th.

If you open OSE it says "Last Index Update: November 28th, 2011" Today in January 1st. Any thoughts as to why the delay?0 -
OPen Site Explorer listing criteria?
Checking link data for a potential client who has given me access to their websmaster tools account, I've noticed that Google list over 150,000 "Links to Your Site" but yet OSE only reports a tiny fraction of this number.
Moz Pro | | G-DC
I have manually verified that there are in fact direct links from the sites that are listed in Webmaster Tools but not in OSE. Does OSE discard some links? Is there a reporting lag? Does anyone know why there would be such a large discrepancy?0 -
How Can I Find All Backlinks
How can I use site explorer to find out which sites are linking to us thousands of times. It says we have over 300,000 total links pointing to our site. I'm thinking there are some sitewide links from other site(s) making up most of that, but I can't seem to locate it/them?
