Handmadearea.com - anyone know what this is? Bizarre backlinks!
-
I have noticed just this week a lot of new backlinks from a site called handmadearea.com - for example http://handmadearea.com/url/hp-printer-software-zpe-center/. It looks like the site is somehow stripping my content structure and inserting spam where my content goes.
Has anyone seen anything like this before? Should I be worried about it? The backlinks are not showing in Google Webmaster Tools so I can't easily disavow them at this point. Are they likely to be doing me harm? What can I do about them?
-
Yes, it's a strange one. I don't understand what advantage they get from scraping my logo and headings. I have disavowed their entire domain as there appears no reasonable way to contact them. I doubt they'd reply if I did. I did a full backlinks report this morning and found four more similar sites (similar URL structures) linking back to me, although none of them appear to be working.
If they end up getting better SERPs than me, I'll be wanting to know why!

Site looks like a scraping engine full of crap, you probably don't want them to link to you (links are dofollow).
You can still disavow the entire domain even if not showing in WMT. Just add the full domain in the domain format: Domain:handmadearea.com to your disavow file and you are done.

Backlink question
When I create a website for my clients, I always put our website link in the footer of the description, just to say 'powered by ieatdoorframes' with a link to our website. On SEMrush, its showing as a negative backlink with the reason 'compound', suggesting its a 'money term'. I add this link as I've had success getting new work from clients who like the site we built. I'm new to these terminologies and wondering what I should do?

Linkbuilding backlinks list to linkpartnes embed in website?
We do backlinking for clients. And for this we also create a backlink page for linkingpartners (afcorse not all link have a backlink). For easy maintaince it would be handy if we can create a page on our server that is embed on the website of our clients. Is it possible to do this so there is no negative SEO? (google will rate this page and the content perfectly) best regards, Vincent

Press Releases as Backlinking
After analyzing one of my competitors I notices they show up in PRweb as one of their top rated back linking sites. My question is using prweb or something similar okay to use for backlinking? Would they help at all? Also, since they distribute content, would I get penalized for duplicate content?

Backlinks not showing up
I've been noticing that not all links that a website obtains are showing up as a backlink. For example, the following page has a link to a website (**www.pwgglaw.com)**at the bottom of the page. http://www.ocbar.org/AllNews/NewsView/tabid/66/smid/384/ArticleID/564/Default.aspx I went to opensiteexplorer and typed in pwgglaw.com and it didn't list the ocbar.org as a backlink. Is this right? If not, then how do you force the link from ocbar.org to show up as a backlink?

How do I know if an inbound link offers value?
Is there a way to find out if inbound links that have been pointing to my site for a year or more are still offering value to my site. I know the value decreases over time (especially press release and blog article links), but it would be nice to know how much value bring to a site.

Can PR0 backlinks be harmful?
Having a discussion on someone with whether or not PR0 backlinks can be harmful. Managed to find these blog posts that support my argument; http://geoland.org/2011/02/can-bad-links-hurt-your-google-rankings/ http://www.johnmcelborough.com/bad-links-good-site My argument: Things like article spinning and distribution are pretty much pointless. I used UniqueArticleWizard for a while when I first started out with SEO. It gave me around 1000 PR0 backlinks. A few weeks later my site was penalised from PR5 to PR2. Thanks
