Outranked for own content

One of my clients has a travel site and is syndicating apartment listings to the likes of tripadvisor and flipkey. I've just done an SEO audit for them and noticed that when searching for snippets of text from within an apartment listing, these aggregator sites outrank my client by miles (which is the original creator of the content).
How would you suggest tackling this issue? We can't give up the aggregator sites as they're bringing in sales. The first solution that comes to mind is send different descriptions to aggregator sites than the content on our site, however this would mean rewriting a ton of content. Any other suggestions on how to treat aggregator/comparison shopping sites?

So, they're outranking you for snippets of text. That actually is not a big deal. The bigger issues are these:
- Are they outranking you for any of your branded terms?
- Are they outranking you for any generic head terms that you used to rank highly for? (eg. "waterfront seattle condo rental"). This is far more important than whether they're outranking you for arbitrary text snippets that you wrote.
You're correct that trying to rewrite each description is a good tactic, but make sure that it's good copywriting, and not simply changing the words around for the sake of SEO. Users on these networks aren't finding your listings entirely through SEO, they're largely finding you through internal searches on tripadvisor.com, etc. Make sure you're ranking well in those searches and that you have copy that will convert prospective renters.

Sounds like a familiar issue, as these sites have a huge authority they're likely to outrank your clients content. I would go with your own suggestion and try to rewrite the most popular content and use the new content on their site. It's still likely that they will outrank you on the terms you'll be using in that new text.

Why competitors rank with no content & filters
We're investing a lot in on-page content and creating categories/sub categories to target relevant keywords. Although it seems competitors with high domain authorities are clearly dominating in the SERPs and the pages have NO content. They are literally filters that create landing pages. For example when you search "Kaydian Beds", Debenhams rank below the manufacturer with just a filtered page, this page has not been optimised with content to target the keywords, only the META title changes depending on the chosen filter. How on Earth are These Sites Outranking Us?
Hello all, My colleague and I have been doing a lot of work to optimise our companies site (www.allseasonshire.eu/). The project is still massively work in progress. While we've been analysing the SERPs for KW's we're trying to rank for we've noticed two sites that are outranking us and we can't work out why. The sites in question are www(dot)nationwide-boilerhire(dot)co(dot)uk & and www(dot)nationwideboilerhire(dot)com. They're both very small sites, with hardly any content and basically zero external links pointing to them. When we compare the root domains in OSE our site comes out on top on every single competitive metric as well, most of them by a long shot. I'm just wondering if anyone can help shed some light on why these two sites would be appearing so high in SERPs and why they would be outranking us? Any input anyone has is greatly appreciated. Site Ranking for keywords that they haven't targeted in content
There is a site that I am constantly battling for the #1 spot for a particular keyword and I can't see that they are doing any link building, they are not using any anchor text for the keyword "at all" just their company name (not exact match) and their content doesn't even contain the keyword. I used Open site explorer to analyze their activity, but they are doing something I can't figure out from that data. Any other tools to use? I have higher quality links than them, post content nearly 5 times per week to my blog and their blog hasn't been updated in ages, I kill them in social media, there isn't one instance that they are better than my site and I only build quality driven links, no blog comment crap and get featured on lots of industry blogs for our work. I distribute my content very effectively, I just can't figure it out. They were no where about 5 months ago now they are tearing it up for lots of keywords in the industry top spots. I can build a few links and surpass them, but I have to do it every week or so and I think they are doing something fishy. I just want to figure out what they are doing and bury them. I don't want to post their url and mine here as I don't want them to see this post in search results.

Could duplicate content be helpful to the original source?
Greetings Mozzers, I'm wondering if duplicate content could potentially function as a "link" in Google's eyes. Since they know I have content first and then someone else just uses it, Google could maybe think of that as a recommendation that the content is good? Reason I ask is, when I first starting going after a keyword for a company I wanted to go after two (2) separate regions, let's say "San Antonio" and "Dallas". My non-region based keyword started to rank for "San Antonio Keyword" because the content on the San Antonio page was too closely related. So i'm wondering if maybe having that content so close/duplicate may have boosted the original page because it was kind of like a recommendation? Thoughts, Information, Clarification, any and all are welcome and appreciated!

How can Floost outrank us?
I did a search for "Bella Thorne Jimmy Choo Maylen" and the first result that comes up is "http://floost.com/yournextshoes-post-bella-thorne-in-jimmy-choo-maylen-booties-hot-or-not-2680653". Basically they just have our site in some sort of frame, and I can't even see our site among the other search results. How do they manage to outrank us? I never submitted our site to Floost, but normally I don't think they should hurt our SEO as it's just a content aggregator. What do you think? aO6bBSU

Duplicate content for www & non-www results
why would my campaign show duplicate content entries for www & non-www versions of my url? Here's an example I have a page called 'mydomain.com/resources/', and the campaign analysis shows it as being duplicate content, with the duplicate being 'www.mydomain.com/resources'. I don't know where I can adjust this or if it is perhaps related to some other setting, like Google Analytics or something else. /G

Spam affiliate outranking quality site?
I purchased a site hotkeyit.com which was making decent revenue without much work (all via PPC or CPM) but then afterwards started looking at the SERPs and realized I was being outranked for the main term, 'starcraft 2 guide/s' by crappy ClickBank sites like starcraft2guide.com and many others. Researching starcraft2guide.com specifically in SEOMoz/Rush/Majestic shows hotkeyit.com as being quite superior in everyway, not to mention it has quite a social following for a small gaming site, yet Google seems to care not. Can someone please explain what's going on here? It seems like the site was penalized, but there was never any link building done for it aside from word of mouth on forums (this was mentioned beforehand). Thank you everyone.
