https v http is there any difference in rankings what is the best for a online chemist store?

Have a client that has a https site do you think its better than http for this kind of site and is there any studies done regarding any difference in rankings?
-
Signed certificates do cost money but it's relatively low if you stick to providers like GoDaddy. Verisign and Thawte are sometimes considered a "better certificate" as the companies carry more clout but most users won't know the difference and you'll certainly pay a difference.
https requires more overhead than traditional http because the content has to be encrypted in transit. If you submit data like checkout details, address, name, etc it also has to be decrypted by the server before it can be interpreted. The load is really minimal for most modern servers but it's worth mentioning if you plan to use slower hosting on a high traffic site. It can become a real bottleneck on very high traffic sites as load balancers need to see decrypted traffic which requires the use of an ssl decrypting appliance in front of the load balancer. -- Again most of this probably isn't relevant to you but it bears mentioning.
Server(website) ---> encrypted data ---> Your browser

thank you very helpful Information from both of you Do you have to pay extra for the signed certificate?
why does it effect server performance more than a http ?
-
Howdy,
https vs http has no effect on pagerank. If my site is FunkyChicken.com http://FunkyChicken.com and https://FunkyChicken.com would have the same rank assuming they are identical. What Geoff said is important though, you don't want to have http:// and https:// with identical content because google will see these as separate sites with identical content. If you must have http and https with identical content look into rel canonical https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/139394?hl=en
If you're going to do https make sure you use a real signed certificate so users don't get a warning about security when connecting. Https isn't just for checkouts anymore it's a good practice if your site presents any semi-sensitive info to it's users because it lowers the chance of a man in the middle attack. --This is the reason companies like facebook, twitter, etc are switching to https. The drawback to https besides needing a signed certificate is going to be server performance if you are dealing with heavy traffic your site will require more hardware with https.
Just some food for thought,

Not sure what you mean "https site". I tend to use https pages for secure areas where users are logged in or are about to submit data.
Therefore http are generally better for ranking as they are public pages.
In the construction of the site make sure pages are allocated to https or http rather than have a duplicate version of the site on either. You will need to check with your hosting whether it is possible to do this.

Page Rank Flow
I wonder if someone can help me understand clearly page rank flow. If we have a website with a Home page, Services, About and Contact as a very basic website and the page rank will flow to each of those pages from the Home page (i'm not including internal linking between pages or anchor text from the home page content - this is a question purely about home page flow via the main navigation). If the Services page had 3 drop down pages. Would the home page rank also flow to each of these or is it going to the Services page which then distributes it to the three drop down. So instead of Home page rank flowing to 3 pages 33% each - it is flowing to 6 pages 16.6% each. Or is it flowing to 3 pages - 33.3% then the Services pages get a third of 33.3% ->10.1% I know this is simplifying it all a great deal- but it is the basic concept I am trying to grasp on this simple example. Thanks

Unexpected Rank Down After Page Update
Hello Team, I have a post on my blog which was ranking on #1 in SERP. I always tried to update it with new content. On 31-Mar-2017, I made a big update in it. Like, it was a list of 20 tips and I made it to 50+. I thought it will help me to increase it's CTR. And, I changed its URL and redirect old one to new one.But when I checked today, it was totally disappeared from SERP 😞 it's nowhere. But it is indexed I have checked but not ranking now. I did this thing (Content Upgrade) before and it always gave good results but I don't know what happened now.Any suggestions or help?Old URL: http://excelchamps.com/blog/2015/12/21-useful-macro-codes-for-vba-newcomers/New URL: http://excelchamps.com/blog/2017/03/useful-macro-codes-for-vba-newcomers/-With love and respect,Puneet Gogia

Redirecting HTTP to HTTPS - How long does it take Google to re-index the site?
hello Moz We know that this year, Moz changed its domain to moz.com from www.seomoz.org
Technical SEO | | joony
however, when you type "site:seomoz.org" you still can find old urls indexed on Google (on page 7 and above) We also changed our site from http://www.example.com to https://www.example.com
And Google is indexing both sites even though we did proper 301 redirection via htaccess. How long would it take Google to refresh the index? We just don't worry about it? Say we redirected our entire site. What is going to happen to those websites that copied and pasted our content? We have already DMCAed their webpages, but making our site https would mean that their website is now more original than our site? Thus, Google assumes that we have copied their site? (Google is very slow on responding to our DMCA complaint) Thank you in advance for your reply.0 -
Http vs https: which is better for seo / usability
Hi All, Firstly thank you for taking the time to look. My dilemma is as follows; I have a site on wordpress that I have added an ssl certificate to and the entire domain is secure. The site has a mix of content including a blog area and product pages. My question is what does Google prefer, http or https or does it not matter As i see it my option is to keep the entire site as https and enforce this sitewide so all non secure content redirects to the https version or i could enforce https just in the cart and or product pages, all other content, homepage, blog, about us, contact us etc would be http. From an seo perspective ie google search engine, is their a best way to proceed? Finally, as i currently have http and https both displaying ie duplicate, what would be the way to fix this, i have yoast plugin so can set the canonical there and can also edit my robot.txt. I have come across this resource (http://www.creare.co.uk/http-vs-https-duplicate-content) and am wondering if this guideline is still correct or is there another more current way, if so I would be grateful if you could point me in the right direction. thanks in advance.

Best Joomla SEO Extensions?
My website is a Joomla based website. My designer is good, but I don't think he knows that much about SEO . . . so I doubt if he added any extensions that can assist with SEO. I assume there are some good ones that can help my site. Does anyone know what/which Joomla extensions are must haves?
