Cannot Increase Ranking For a Keyword Phrase
-
I've been working on the keyword phrase, "Niceville Assisted Living" for the website: http://nicevilleassistedliving.com and my increase in rankings has pretty much stalled.
When I first started working on this website, a lot of the content was duplicated (which we took care of by plugging in unique content), there were locations listed on the homepage that were throwing my rankings off, I've created blog posts each week (we've even tried posting one post every day for a week), added the Facebook feed to the homepage, corrected errors in the theme, and I'm trying to get a resources page built. I know content is a very, very large part of SEO.. but it seems like the content I am plugging in isn't helping.
There aren't any errors in Webmaster Tools and my keyword density is fairly close to the website ranking #1. I think my biggest problem is backlinks. Other websites have quite a few whereas the website I'm working on doesn't have any (I'm working on that, but the number I have doesn't compare to the websites ranking in the top three). I'm stumped as to what to do next.
Does anyone have suggestions to improve the ranking for this keyword phrase?

Thank you for your suggestions.
About how long does it take for Ahref to have information on a website? This website has been a project for about six months and I've been working out all of the kinks to make sure the website is unique.
1 - They have a Facebook that is pretty active and there's a lot of interaction. I'm going to work on driving some of that traffic to their website and hope that helps. (My goal is to also target Google+.)
2 - I'm working on getting backlinks (non-paid) as well, although the number of links I will have doesn't compare to the competitors.

Hi,
I have checked your backlinks Profile and Ahref is not giving any data about it. So I think its too early to get worried about the Rankings.
Here are the steps you should focus and Hopefully your Website will be ranking for desired keyword.
1- Build Social shares and Likes.
2- Build authority backlinks BUT Without your money anchor text (Penguin free).
3- Go to related niche forums and get an idea about what problems people have and write content around it
Keep these steps for a month and you will start to see improvements.

Rankings drastically changing
I monitor our positions for a few keywords but they are very unstable. One day they will be at position 1, 2 or 3 and then all of a sudden not even on Google. We use an IP redirect to guide users to the correct site and I suspect this may be a cause. Could anybody shed some light? Thanks

I am lost at where to go. My optimization rating is 95% + and rankings are on pages 4+. I would like to know what I should do to increase my rankings.
My site is Glare-Guard.com. My Domain Authority has not moved from 17 in a long time. i have done everything to optimize the different pages. I have 90%+ ratings for the various pages, yet I am still not even close to the first page for many of the keywords I am looking to rank for. Do you have any tips or ideas? Should I try to rewrite my content and add more information? I am just at a loss for where I should go to get the right traffic to my site. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ranking for keyword I don't optimize for & Other oddities
Hi Moz Community! I've been working with a clients website for about a year now. They were hit with the original Panda update because of some spammy links from a shady SEO firm. We've made a decent climb back but not a full recovery. There are some weird things happening that I would love some insight into. 1. Ranking for keywords we don't optimize for: I noticed some low keyword volume for a keyword term that is close to our main term, but is slightly different. We don't optimize for this term at all on our website. We rank third for this term, and actually show site links in the result, which doesn't happen for any of our other pages. 2. Index not found when doing site: search: Other oddity is that when you search site:www.mywebsite.com, I see all the pages within the site except the homepage. Not sure whats going on here, but when I fetch the homepage in GWMT, it returns the homepage. When you query the homepage by itself, it also ranks. Any help would be appreciated! Regards, J

Wrong page ranking for keyword - should I move the better content over?
We have a page which is outranking another page for a keyword that is very important. Â The page that is lower in the rankings has far better content. I think this is happening due to links as well as the url structure. domain.com/ranking/notranking Here is the page we want to rank:Â http://bit.ly/1vqhSoZ Here is the page that is higher in rankings:Â http://bit.ly/1vA1wXQ So I think I should just move the content over from /notranking, to /ranking. Â The content is clearly better on the lower ranking page but I think due to links the /ranking page is higher in SERPS. Â So I guess my question is, would it be wise to move all that content over, and then 301 redirect the old page? Or leave the way it is and hopefully Google will get it right over time?

Why are my competitors ranking higher?
I know there could be numerous reasons here why they may be ranking higher but I hope I can get some answers from the details that I provide below I am looking at one particular page so its www.mydomain.com/urlhere.html I have page rank 5 on this url I have had the domain for 7 years I have videos on this page (my competitors do too) I have 65 linking root domains 14,000 inbound links to this page. I have 6 keyword phrases in my title tag My main competitor has a lot more pages and has been around longer, but has lower page rank and lower inbound links to that page. They also have less words in the title tag.

Keyword Significance
I am seeing some very interesting changes in our non-branded keywords, and am curious to know how keyword significance in Google Webmaster Tools plays into ranking of a site. Â Say for example we are a photography website selling photography supplies. Â At one point our most significant word was Canon, but now it is photography. Â Would that mean that we would start seeing a lot of non-branded keywords generating from Google like "camera strap", "camera lens hood", etc. Â This is really good for us, but curious to know if the only reason we are seeing this is the shift in our keyword significance. Â Any insight? Â Thanks!

Subdomains for niche related keywords
I wanted to know how efficient using a subdomain is, taking in consideration all the updates Google has made lately. I am looking to use a subdomain for a well branded website for a niche specific part of their website. The subdomain will end-up having more than 100 pages. I'd like to see in what cases do you guys recommend using a subdomain? How to get the same benefit out of a subdomain as i am getting from the actual main domain?
