Launching a Reseller

I was wondering if anybody out there has any experience launching a website for a company that is a reseller of another product or service.
I'm wondering what is the best strategy for handling the content for product and service descriptions? Pulling the content off of our partners site doesn't seem like it would be the best strategy.

Being a reseller on the web is tough. You're basically competing against Amazon.com and every other reseller out there that sells the same thing.
Definitely write unique product and service descriptions for everything if you can afford it, otherwise Google will just filter you out of the search results and display your more established competitors ahead of you. If you don't have time or resources to re-write everything, then focus on the top 10% of products in terms of traffic & profitability, then expand from there (Rand recently did a good whiteboard Friday on the subject).
Try to add value beyond what the manufacturer provides on their website. Getting user reviews is a great way to have user generated unique content that's useful to users. Incentivise reviews by giving out coupons. Create filters and comparisons and other features that differentiate your shopping experience. Think about what you can be the best in the world at, because that's what it will take to compete on a global scale.

How does the background on my product photos impact SEO - step and repeat vs. plain background
I have a new e-commerce site and I'm focused on optimizing it for SEO. If I am taking product photos, will having a step-and-repeat (background with our logo repeated) in the background of the product impact how the images are scanned by Google? In other words, would I benefit from having a plain background behind my item shots vs. a backdrop with our logos all across it? I don't want Google to think I'm spamming my logo across all our items, but also want our photos to be recognized as ours. I want to gain SEO from my effort and definitely not hurt it! Thanks!

Tips and advice for startup website launch

New site just launched - would appreciate some feedback!
Hi, Some may have seen me around the forum recently asking a few questions about my website which was being re-vamped. Well its now live. www.followuk.co.uk Would love some actionable advice / constructive criticism. Website background: It started life as a website displaying dates for UK bank holidays, noticed some good traffic/sharing so decided to open it up to UK occasions. This resulted in more traffic and social sharing so over the last month I have re-built the whole website to be responsive and 'I hope' professional / interesting to visitors. I also opened it up further into other UK dates such as sporting events and festivals - these categories will gain more pages as well as new categories to come. I'm hoping to turn it into a little UK resource for this type of content. Thank you.

How to launch a Google + Campaign?
Recently I've been reading a lot about the benefits of Google + for SEO. The problem is that for local sites their might not be that many people in my niche who are signed up for google +. Now obviously I'd like to get a lot of +'s but whats the best way to go about it? How do I get people to one sign up for a google acount to create a google+ profile and then + my site? Sounds like a double campaign. Any body have any experience with this?
