Getting links before launch

should I start getting links for my domain?

I'm going to answer generally since there's not a lot of info here. If you can manage to get good relevant links to your page, that's always helpful. I'm not sure what you have on the domain right now, but if you have some sort of placeholder page with decent design and some kind of teaser or information for what will be there, this can be a very effective way to drum up excitement. Off the top of my head mailbox (http://www.mailboxapp.com/) had a placeholder page for months, where you can sign up for a waiting list for the app. It drew a lot of press, a lot of sign ups, and yes, a lot of links to a page that was not much more than a placeholder.
On the other hand, if you don't have anything there now and don't plan on doing so, I would stay away from just trying to build spammy or otherwise unrelated links. It could and probably will hurt you in the long term.

Where do I get backlinks?
Three months ago I made the "foolish" decision to launch an insurance quote website (didn't think of looking into how competitive insurance websites were before investing my time, money and energy). Due to budget costs, I have been forced to learn about SEO. At this point I would say I am at the Peon level. lol. Today I signed up for SEOmoz and have found that my competitors have TENS OF THOUSANDS of backlinks. To logical people, this would be enough to throw in the towel. Not me. I'm stupid. I have spent many many hours over the last few months creating backlinks (at least I thought I was). However, I want to start targeting the sites that my competitors are using because they are getting anchor texts. How do I do this? How do websites create so many back links? Some of my competitors have 50,000 backlinks! I know this won't be done overnight. I appreciate all the help the SEOmoz community can offer a Peon like myself. One day I promise to pay it forward.

The best is to do both. However with those with limited resources, would building more links with branded and naked URL anchor links be a better solution than painstakingly asking every webmaster to remove links.

How to beat This with Links?

Now, I checked in open explorer that this site has many moderate level links. No high authority links but the problem is these links they all have title as the search keyword "detective in Gujarat" so maybe this is why this site rests on the top of this search keyword. So if building authority links into a different domain(Not detective related) with very high PR but WITHOUT title of relevancy. Anchor text would be the keyword but not the title of page. So the question is will those authority sites beat this gujratdetectives.com/ ???0 -
JavaScript is crawled by search engines, isn’t it? Does it mean that links embedded in JavaScript pass link juice?
I wonder If links embedded in JavaScript from an external Website pass link juice to the linked page and thus have a positive effect on google rankings. I read that JavaScipt is craweld. Does it mean that also the link juice is passed? I'm looking forward to your answers.

Do you get linkjuice from a dofollow redirect (Like Yahoo! Article links)?
I've recently hired a company that publishes my press releases for me. One of them is on Yahoo! Finance. When I went to the Yahoo article, my keyword link was dofollow, but had a very long Yahoo redirect link instead of just a direct link to my page. Am I still getting link juice out of this Yahoo redirect?

Link Building: Asking for links versus building links
I am currently delving into link building for SEO having started out from a social media marketing side. From that angle, it was always my belief building high quality links came from engaging targeted bloggers and sites in my market and related verticals for product reviews and/or providing expert advise and opinion for posts they are creating. As I am learning more the "technical" side of SEO, I've read a lot of posters on here talk about asking from links from websites. While I get the concept from a strategic stand point, are links really asking for or is better to continue to pursue the long term investment of pitching to get coverage from well known bloggers and sites?
