How to work round issue with SEOMOZ not supporting SSL?
-
I have a website that it running via SSL, to secure the website, to reassure the customer is browsing (and so will be purchasing) on a secure website, and to show off the green address bar which many of my competitors do not have.
However in my campaign I am getting on Links showing, with my rank reporting '1', surely this cannot be!
I asked a Help question, and the only response was: "Unfortunately, we don't currently support https for our linkscape crawls. This is definitely something that we plan to implement in the future though! I hope that helps and I apologize for any inconveniences!"
This definately does not help.. Is there any way of working around this issue, or will I be forced to cancel my SEOMOZ membership?

Thanks I'll try this to see if it can get Linkscape up and going again.... hopefully then I can get my SeoMoz subscription back.

The seomoz crawler agent is rogerbot.
User-agent: rogerbot

Hello Shawn,
Sorry for the late reply. If I allow Roger the Search Bot access to a http version of my website, will that appear in the linkscape index?
If so, can I have the user agent of the mozbot so that I exclude it from the user-agents that are forced to use HTTPS?
This is the reason I have cancelled my SEOMOZ Pro membership, so I'd really like to have it sorted so I can rejoin
Kind Regards,
James -
It appears this only applies to page crawling and not the linkscape reports (mozTrust etc)

SSL is not as performance killing as people link, see this link: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/149274/http-vs-https-performance
I want to implement SSL for my application, and I want seomoz to provide the metrics for it, if that is not possible that is fine, I just wanted to check before I went to another provider.

I understand you wish to demonstrate the value you offer, but running the entire site in SSL is not the way to do it. It is a negative experience for both the user and you to run the site in SSL.
1. It will eat your bandwidth. If you are hosted on VPS your hosting expenses will increase. If you are on a shared server with no extra bandwidth charges, then all of your pages will load slower because of the increased data transfer.
2. Images from a secured server cannot be cached. Images are the biggest use of bandwidth and page loading speed. Your increased bandwidth usage will be amplified, and users will take another noticeable performance hit when accessing your site.
3. A third performance hit is that on each side the data has to be encrypted and decrypted. Have you tried running any performance testing?
4. Many users will never notice the green bar, and have absolutely no idea what it represents.
Apache covers issues related to SSL response times in their FAQ: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/ssl/ssl_faq.html#load

I do believe seoMoz now supports https -> http://www.seomoz.org/blog/new-seomoz-pricing-plans-more-keywords-for-everyone

I want to assure the customer the site is secure straight from their entry to the first page. SSL doesnt really cost anything to implement so it makes sense to have it on the whole site.
I'm more after how to get the equivalent moz trust factors etc in my SEOPro
-
Personally I'd only have secure pages for actual payment pages - the rest of them I'd have normal pages since the only time a visitor is really going to worry about SSL/secure pages is when they go though to the payment section/page.
'Continue to secure payment' or something of the sort

Website Issues - Duplicate Content
Hello, I'm fairly new to using Moz and I logged on this morning to find Issues have been found in one of the websites - 22 High Priority and 44 Medium. I know it's due to duplicate content in the blog, but i can't figure out what is duplicated? I've only recently come on board this website so I don't know if the content has been plagiarised or what? The link to the site is here: delacyspa.co.uk Any help would be appreciated. Thanks zFxQmmd

Question regarding the SEOmoz Report Card
A report card is directed towards one keyword. What if one is to target two keywords on one page? For example, if I want to target SEO in Miami, Miami SEO, and SEO Miami it would be impossible to get an "A" on the report card for all three. What is the best way to target two-three keys on one page? Lets say these keywords are equally beneficial to the site, and we do not want to have to use hierarchy for one key over the other. Would it be wise to build a page for each? I feel like that would be redundant to the user. It says I need the keyword 4 times in the body so I should have 4 "SEO Miami" and 4 "Miami SEO". High importance factors. What makes them high importance? The keyword should be in the beginning of the title. How does this make sense as a high importance factor. Many titles are going to sound spammy if this is how they are written. Lets use Miami SEO again as an example: Miami SEO from [company name] bla bla bla sounds like spam. Learn about SEO in Miami from [company name] sound much better and is probably more likely to get clicked on. How important are these High Importance factors? I was always under the impression that we build the site for the user however the report card changes that perspective.

Seomoz & Duplicate Page Content Issue?
Hi, What is the criteria on Seomoz Crawl Diagnostic Report? I got a long list of URLs indicating Content that is identical (or nearly identical) to content on other pages of your site forces your pages to unnecessarily compete with each other for rankings. But as I gone through none of the reported pages duplicate. What should I do? Thanks in Advance

SEOMOZ Canonical notices using Wordpress
I keeping getting the notice from SEO Moz Crawls relating to Canonical issues. I have tried Yoast SEO, All-in-One SEO and both insert the appropriate canonical code... Can anyone help determine why the crawls report this notice? Check out seoontario.ca\testamonials for an example. Could it be because the site in my SEOMOZ crawl does not have the http:// prefix? I've now installed FV Simpler SEO, a variant of All In Once SEO, but am getting the same canonical code...

SEOMoz Campaign Tool
I've noticed that when looking at the SEOmoz tool, specifically the On Page analysis tool, it is still looking at an old url. About two months ago I made updates to all of our category page URLs. Previously the old urls were stuffed with keywords, strange characters and were really long. When looking at the on-page tool though it is referencing the old urls for keywords and I'm wondering why? I figure its been long enough to recognize the new urls. Is the paring of a keyword and a url saved and just graded on a weekly basis to produce the report? I had expected to see the new url's by now which are also represented in the sitemap. Around that same time I also added our TellAFriend Page and Review pages to our Robots.txt file as not to be crawled but I still see these pages come up in the errors report. Should this update as well?
