I got message in my Google webmaster tool: Unnatural links to your site—impacts links
Does anyone knows the difference between "Unnatural links to your site—impacts links" and "Unnatural links to your site"
Thank you

Hi,
I had this kind of penalties in a client website. I knew most of the bad links were targeting the homepage + some brand-dedicated pages. Those were the pages that had the big drop in traffic.
We worked hard to remove the bad links, and after 3 months or so, we got this penalty lifted. Now we are regaining rankings progressively and our penalized landing pages are climbing in traffic.
So what you have to do is simply remove the bad links, use the disavow tool and send a reconsideration request to G (this is a manual penalty).
Hope it helps !

Matt Cutts explains what it means if your site has a manual action labeled as "Unnatural links to your site—impacts links" and what you can do to fix it.

The difference is that "Unnatural links to your site" is related to your entire site, whereas the message you received is only related to a part of the site.

In most of the sites that I manage, "unnatural links-affects links" usually appears if there is a partial match warning and just "unnatural links" appears if there is a sitewide warning.
There's controversy over whether you need to do anything if you just have a partial match warning. I have an article coming out on the Moz blog in a couple of days that will go into this answer in detail. But, generally, if you have any kind of warning I recommend doing the work to get rid of the warning even if you're not immediately seeing a ranking drop.
If you know your site is clean (i.e. you've never built your own links or paid for someone to build links for you) then it is possible that there is just one section of your site that Google is concerned about. An example would be if you had an article about a particular business and then that business built links to prop up that article. But that's really rare.
Usually what happens when you get a partial match is that Google is just discounting the links that they think are unnatural and there is no further penalty. BUT...many of these sites go on to get into Penguin trouble. You do not want that to happen because escaping Penguin is very very hard. As such, if you've got a partial match warning it's like a gift from Google because they are telling you that you need to clean up and they won't lift the warning until you've cleaned up sufficiently. This is in contrast to algorithmic issues like Penguin where you don't get any guidance at all.

When Mobile and Desktop sites have the same page URLs, how should I handle the 'View Desktop Site' link on a mobile site to ensure a smooth crawl?
We're about to roll out a mobile site. The mobile and desktop URLs are the same. User Agent determines whether you see the desktop or mobile version of the site. At the bottom of the page is a 'View Desktop Site' link that will present the desktop version of the site to mobile user agents when clicked. I'm concerned that when the mobile crawler crawls our site it will crawl both our entire mobile site, then click 'View Desktop Site' and crawl our entire desktop site as well. Since mobile and desktop URLs are the same, the mobile crawler will end up crawling both mobile and desktop versions of each URL. Any tips on what we can do to make sure the mobile crawler either doesn't access the desktop site, or that we can let it know what is the mobile version of the page? We could simply not show the 'View Desktop Site' to the mobile crawler, but I'm interested to hear if others have encountered this issue and have any other recommended ways for handling it. Thanks!

Large sites linking to us in their menu
Hello, I am digging in to our in-links in WMT and notice that we have a number of sites that link to us in their menu or every page on their site, making for hundreds of thousands of links to our site. Here is an example:

http://www.askthebookie.com/ (in the topmost right menu there is a link to our forums) http://www.covers.com/postingforum/ There are about a dozen or so sites that link to our homepage tens-of-thousands of times. Should I disavow them, or is this be viewed as a legitimate link? Thanks in advance for any help!0 -
Merging Sites: Will redirecting the old homepage to an internal page on the new site cause issues?
I've ended up with two sites which have similar content (but not duplicate) and target similar keywords, rather than trying to maintain two sites I would like to merge the sites together. The old site is more of a traditional niche site and targets a particular set of keywords on its homepage, the new site is more of an authority site with a magazine type homepage and targets the same set of keywords from an internal page. My question is: Should I redirect the old site's homepage to the relevant internal page on the new website...

...or should I redirect the old site's homepage to the new site's homepage? (the old site's homepage backlinks are a mixture of partial match keyword anchor text, naked URLs and branded anchor text) I am in two minds (a & b!) (a) Redirecting to the internal page would be great for ranking as there are some decent backlinks and the content is similar (b) But usually when you do a 301 redirect the homepage usually directs to the new homepage and some of the old site's links are related to the domain rather than the keyword (e.g. http://www.site.com) and some people will be looking for the site's homepage. What do you think? Your help is much appreciated (and hope this makes sense...!)0 -
Site wide internal links in footer
I have had a long discussion with a client and their external SEO partner about their current footer. They have added all their product categories, both main and sub, to the footer. From a pure SEO perspective is it still advisable, after all the pandas and penguines, to stay away from keyword important site wide footer linking to internal pages? As the links will become a repeatable element and also containing the most important keywords, isn't the links actually hurting more than helping? With 5000 index pages, it will risk "marking" the most important keywords as repeatable, lowering ranking, instead of increasing as their external part say.

What are your thoughts on using Dripable, VitaRank, or similar service to build URL links too dilute link profile???
One of my sites has a very spamy link profile, top 20 anchors are money keywords. What are your thoughts on using Dripable, VitaRank, or similar service to help dilute the link profile by building links with URLs, Click Here, more Info, etc. I have been building URL links already, but due to the site age(over 12 years) the amount of exact match anchor text links is just very large and would take forever to get diluted.

On-Site Optimization Tips for Job site?
I am working on a job site that only ranks well for the homepage with very low ranking internal pages. My job pages do not rank what so ever and are database driven and often times turn to 404 pages after the job has been filled. The job pages have to no content either. Anybody have any technical on-site recommendations for a job site I am working on especially regarding my internal pages? (Cross Country Allied.com) Any help would be much appreciated.
