Topical Sitelinks
-
This is a question about the non-branded, topical sitelinks SERP - i.e. those sitelinks without additional descriptive text, that tend to be shown for queries that are information centered as opposed to brand-centric.
I'm been noticing an increase in these among some big brands in the travel vertical, and wanted to throw it out there to the esteemed Moz community.
Are these the preserve of big site SEO/brands, or is there anything we can/should be doing to increase our chances of getting these topical sitelinks to appear?
Cheers!

As Marc has pointed out, you can't choose them, you can only increase your chances of having them appear by having the correct markup and appearing higher in search results.
One other thing to note is that you can demote a sitelink in Webmaster Tools under the "Search Appearance" tab. For each search result page, you can demote specific pages you wouldn't want to appear as a sitelink.
But I would absolutely recommend having Schema markup to have full descriptive sitelinks for search results, especially your branded ones. More real estate you can have in search the better

The only way to get a chance to be mentioned with such highlighted data is to have a really good working markup structure... you can use the data highlighter tools within WMT f.ex. or data vocabulary markup language / schema.org

Current Sitelinks Refresh/Removal timeframe?
Hi All, Did good chunk of research here prior to posting on sitelinks. Tried the Webmaster Console to remove the links Tried removing via sitemap, WP SEO plugin removal Now removed unnecessary pages, and redirected to homepage. Re petitioned for removal via Webmaster Google Console area. Whats been the recent conservative realistic estimate of when sitelinks will be removed/refreshed? Also any tricks to expedite recrawl or re build of sitelinks. The site has very low traffic SMB that uses site purely for portfolio and no ranking/traffic purposes. so maybe the priority is very low for this site. Back in the day sitelinks were a lot easier to manage or so it seems. Thoughts?

Topics and semantically related keywords
Hi, Imagine my main topic is "Bike tours in Holland. Let's imagine that I have decided to write about these 2 topics " Amsterdam " and "Gouda". To talk about those topics should I use the keywords that moz keyword tool gives me for the keyword "Bike tours in Holland" such as "trail, cycle routes, bike paths" and write something like "Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands is the perfect place to hit the road with your trail bike. There are miles of bike paths to cycle one etc... Or can I write something like Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands features some of the best museums in Europe. The Van Gogh museum, the Anne Franck house and the Rijksmuseum. Or is this second sentence  talking about the museums wrong because it isn't talking about biking. Thank you,

Video and text article on same topic but on two separate pages...
we are creating a video based off the content on one of our web pages. i know it's probably better for the video to be embedded on the same page as the article but if they aren't, what should we do to make sure that we aren't diluting our ranking power? Â Both pages will be going after the same key phrase...

How would you suggest finding content topics for this site?
Hello, How would you suggest finding content topics for this site: nlpca.com The end goal is signups for training seminars in San Francisco, California and Salt Lake City, Utah. In the future the seminars will move more towards life coaching trainings but right now they are mostly about NLP. NLP is a personal development field. Just looking for ideas for the process of finding topics for the most link-bait-heavy fabulous content. The owners of the site are authorities in the field. This is for both blog and article content. Thanks.

Sitelinks in 7-pack / blended / local results
I have a client who has been ranking well in the 7-pack for local searches, for 1.5+ years. Â I recently noticed a competitor's Google Places link has little sitelinks attached, but my client's link doesn't have them. Â This makes me sad. To provide a concise question: what can I do to help my client get sitelinks along with his Google Places listing in the 7-pack / blended / local results? Some example data: My client's business is called Ambiance Dental and his website is www.mycalgarydentist.com. Â An example search to see what I'm talking about is "calgary family dentist". Â The competitor that's showing sitelinks is www.aestheticdentalstudio.ca which has a title of "Dentist in Calgary | Cosmetic Treatment in Calgary". Â The sitelinks you'll see are "Dr. Gordon Chee", "Links", "Dr. Alexa Geminiano". Â Notice that my client doesn't have the same sitelinks. Some further data: If you do a a search for "calgary aesthetic dentist" you'll see the competitor's 1-box local result (is that what it's called?) with his Google Places data and sitelinks. Â If you search for "calgary ambiance dentist" you'll get a similar layout SERP for my client, again with no sitelinks. My client's sitelinks: If you search for "ambiance dental calgary" you'll see that Google does offer sitelinks for his site, just not in Google Places it seems. My client's website: My client's website has the navigation coded as a list (UL) without any javascript or complicated code messing things up. Â The competitor's navigation is built similarly, though he has about 40 more pages in his main navigation. Â My client's page names are concise, which I've read helps with sitelinks, the website is coded very cleanly, the URLs of his site are clear and concise without a complicated folder structure, so it seems like we're doing everything right. I appreciate any input other mozzers can provide, and discussion on the topic. Â I'm sure there are others who would benefit from local sitelinks as well!

Number of forum posts per topic page
When optimizing a forum topic page for SEO, would it be better to have a higher number of posts per page than seperating the topic up into multiple pages? For example, out of the box a forum may display 15 posts per topic page - would there be any SEO benifit in changing that number to say 30 posts per page? I.e. more content per page and decreasing unnecessary "page 2, page 3, page 4"... etc. Your thoughts and comments are most appreciated.
