Have there been recent changes to the On-Page Grader tool?
-
I use this page all the time to grade my primary and secondary keywords and for four years now have consistently managed to achieve A-C grades for all. Today however, I noticed I am flagging F grades for 50% of the keywords.
I do make a note of the initial grades for all pages (as the majority of the keywords I grade using the tool are NOT added/tracked in MOZ 'campaigns'). To make sure I wasn't going mad I went back and graded some keywords I had achieved A-C grades for just 6 days ago. The changes are as follows:
- keyword 1 initially graded an A - 6 days later is still an A
- keyword 2 initially graded C and is now graded as an F
- keyword 3 initially graded C and now an F
- keyword 4 initially a C grade and now an F
- keyword 5 initially a B grade and has remained a B.
Out of interest I then went and added one of the keywords that is now graded an F (but last week was a C) into the 'Add and manage Page Grades' section and graded once again - it's now grading this as a C. I then removed this keyword from my tracked keywords and graded again using the 'On-Page Grader' tool and ... it's back down to an 'F'.
Please could you shed some light on what's going on? I don't want to track each keyword I grade over time but I do want the parameters for grading to remain the same if I use the 'On-Page Grader' tool - what's changed?
I haven't received any alerts about any changes to the tool so if anyone could shed some light on any changes I would appreciate it.

Hi there!
My name is Erin, and I'm on the Moz Help Team. Thanks for reaching out! I'm happy to hear you already submitted a ticket! That will be a better place to troubleshoot this issue, and it'll keep your campaign details off the interwebz. We're all about transparency, but we still want to respect your privacy!
I love the keyword format you used in your initial post! If you haven't already done so, it'd be super if you could give us that information in the ticket, with all the applicable keywords filled in.
We looks forward to following up with you via your ticket! Happy Wednesday!
Erin

Many thanks Andrew.
I have just submitted a ticket about this issue as I wonder if you could be right. Will keep you updated.

Ah, I missed your experiment with the "tracked" vs "untracked". That to me sounds more of a bug report/troubleshooting than an algorithm change.
-
Hi Andrew,
Thanks for your response. Currently the following factors are flagged as not being met:
-
Broad keyword use in page title
-
Exact keyword used in page title
-
Keywords in image alt attribute
-
Use keywords in your URL
-
Keyword is at beginning of page title
-
Optimal use of keywords in H1 tags
-
Includes a rel canonical tag
Based on my experience of using this tool for 4 years we would generally receive around a 'C' grade for a secondary keyword which has met all criteria apart from that listed above (used 14 times in the body and once in an H2 for a 2000 word page) - which is what we received when grading the page using the On-Page Grader just last week. Since then, no content has changed within the page and when I graded the page again today we received an 'F' grade.
As I mentioned in the original post, I then added this keyword to my campaigns as 'tracked' and graded this keyword again - it then received a 'C' and outlined the exact same factors I listed above as having not been met. When I then deleted the keyword from my 'tracked keywords' again and graded once more, it went back to being an 'F'.
It seems that the On-Page Grader is only really accurately grading tracked keywords, but I'm unsure as to why?

I haven't heard of anything changing in the Moz grader.
Generally the keyword grader gives you an itemized list of reasons for failing. If you click into one of them, what criteria are contributing to your lower grades?

Should keywords found in a keyword tool (eg. Keyword explorer) be implemented on a page in the exact order?
Hi guys, I have a question about adding keywords found directly from a keyword tool onto a webpage. I see a keyword opportunity from Moz's Keyword Explorer, for example, "dog giardia treatment natural" and was wondering if it should be worked into the page exactly in that order? For example, I've modified the question on the page to now read "Are there any other dog Giardia treatments that are natural?" Is this good practice? Should it be exactly in the order of the keyword found in the tool? Is what I've done too spammy? Appreciate any help! Thanks

Why is the Moz tool bar page analysis saying my website is from Romania when we are in the United States?
So when I go to my client's website, https://www.paracore.com/ and on the home page, I use the Moz toolbar. From there I then use the "Page Analysis." If you look at the "URL" line there is a Romanian flag next to the site name. Then I scroll down within the page analysis and the "Country" line says Romania. This is a WordPress site, and the company is based in Arizona. Can anyone explain to me if this is code that I can find and change or remove? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Moz Pro: Redirect Chain warning given to pages that don't have redirects
When I look up crawl errors for a page, I'm always told the page suffers from redirect chaining. However, when I do a redirect check (in this case, using the Redirect Path Chrome extension), it indicates that my page does not use a redirect. Why would Moz detect redirects, while no other redirect checker resource does? For example, this URL gets Moz's redirect chain warning: https://www.aem.org/news/january-2018/5-reasons-iot-projects-fail/ But there is no redirect associated with this URL.

I have recently switzed to SSL on ramxpert.dk, now Moz is not able to crawl the site anymore
Hi Moz I have recently switzed to SSL on ramxpert.dk, now Moz is not able to crawl anymore. When I look at the crawl report there is just one fault displayed: "403 : Received 403 (Forbidden) error response for page." How can i solve this issue asap? I was not aware that there would be any issues with moz when activating a SSL certificate on the site. The campaign with the problem is: ramxpert.dk. Regards

Https address has different result that http in Page Optimization Score toll in Moz PRO
The following url
Moz Bar | | TrueluxGroup
https://www.whichledlight.com/t/gu10-led-bulbs has (100 score for keyword 'GU10 LED')
has different on page opmisation score results to
http://www.whichledlight.com/t/gu10-led-bulbs (73 score for keyword 'GU10 LED') Anyone know if we've set something up wrong?
Also, is this even something to worry about, does google treat them differently? We're using the Page Optimisation Tool in Moz Pro ** UPDATE ** It's worth mentioning we are using emberjs, so the website is a single page application.
We use prerender to render the pages for google.0 -
Duplicate Page and Title Issues
On the last crawl, we received errors for duplicate page titles and some duplicate content pages. Here is the issue: We went through our page titles that were marked as duplicate and changed them to make sure their titles were different. However, we just received a new crawl this week and it is saying there are even more duplicate page title errors detected than before. We're wondering if this is a problem with just us or if it has been happening to other Moz users. As for the duplicate content pages, what is the best way to approach this and see what content is being looked at as a "duplicate" set?

Keyword Grader & OmniExplorer_Bot Question
I found this in several of my clients Robots.txt "User-Agent: OmniExplorer_Bot Disallow: /" Right now I cannot grade any of them that are on a particular platform that has that written in. Would this block the keyword grader? Thanks!

Mozbar showing 0 links for pages in the main nav.
I'm working on a site where the mozbar is showing 0 links for every page in the main nav menu but home. A crawl of the site isn't showing any issues with blocked or nofollowed meta robots. Is this simply a bug in mozbar? What else could be causing this? If this is a problem with on page seo what is the solution?
