WP tag ranking higher than desired page
-
I have a WordPress site and my question is regarding one of the KW I am targeting. I have tagged some of my blog posts with this KW which has successfully placed me on page 1 of Google for the KW. However the page displays all of the blog posts in the summarised format. The page appears as mysite.com/tag/KW
This isn’t too bad as it brings the customer to my site however I have a much preferred page on my site that is optimized for this kw and I would rather them land on this. This is a page as opposed to a post therefore there are no tags attached to it (i guess you knew that). It isn’t a very difficult keyword to rank for as it’s a service in a local area. If I remove the blog tags is there a chance that Google will place my preferred optimised page higher? Is Google saying that the tag page is a better match for the browser therefore will not rank the preferred page? Hope I’m making sense.
Thanks

Hey cjkimber,
That's actually a common dilemma. Many sites prefer to "meta no-index" your tag pages, to remove those tags from consideration in ranking. That way your primary page (and all others) will rank higher than the tags.
The easy way to do that is to download the Yoast SEO plugin for Wordpress. In the plugin, you can noindex the content by clicking:
SEO (sidebar) > Title & Metas (sidebar) > Taxonomies (tab) > Tags > {Select "noindex, follow"}
There are a lot of other tools that will help you out w/ other parts of your SEO in the plugin.
Does that answer your question?

Positioning H1 and H2 tags adjacent on a page without content in between
Is it best practice to separate H1 and H2 tags with P tag or other content, or is it ok to have H1 and H2 adjacent without content in between?

Wrong Page is Ranking
My client is an Ecommerce reseller of a few major scooter brands. We currently rank fifth for a particular brand name but our main brand page isn't the one that ranks. Instead, it's a product page. The main brand page has an A rating from Moz for the desired keyword phrases. Neither page has any backlinks. Any ideas on why our main brand page would be outranked by a product page? What could we do to change this?

Google Indexed = 35, 445 pages, Bing Indexed = 243 pages... Why?
Dear MozSquad, Can anyone check our site and let me know if there's anything super apparent that would cause Bing to treat us like a bum on the street? I recently made some structural changes which really helped with Google, but Bing didn't even budge. It's a lot harder to keep up with all the SEO initiatives I have in mind with it being a small start-up where I'm responsible for planning the entire Internet Marketing campaign, giving constant input on UX and site design, etc on top of 900 other things, so I figured it'd be a good time to use The Moz to help a brother out. Ideas? Domain: homeandgardendesignideas.com (yeah, I know it's a little long =P)
