Google automatically generating and verifying duplicate business pages?
-
Was on the phone with Google Support about duplicate, verified pages showing up and they said they're doing a "cleanse" in which an automated system is reviewing existing listings and making decisions as to how those look, which often results in a new page that Google then automatically verifies.
Their Support phone system has been bogged down with people calling in, but I'm not seeing anything when I search about this issue.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

So glad to be of help, Jackson!

This is great! Thank you, Miriam.

Hi Jackson,
Thank you for the further details. They did help. Yes, this issue is being reported in the Google and Your Business Forum. Read this:
Google staffer Jade W. gives instructions regarding what to do.
Let me know if this helps, Jackson.

Hey Miriam,
The problem is for both Google+ for Business and in Google's Places for Business dashboard. The duplicate listings aren't showing up in the SERPs, because Google is deactivating one of the "duplicates."
So, let's say I claimed an unverified Google+ for Business page for A Generic Business. I verify the page, fill out all the info, add photos, etc. and it's live and listed on Google and looks splendid. All the info is correct, confirmed, etc.
Then, say, a week later, I log into my account and there's a red banner across the top of my Google+ for Business dashboard saying that my listing has been marked as a duplicate. A duplicate of what? As always, I searched and only found one, unclaimed listing and that's what I moved into my account and verified.
I called Google and asked what happened, and they said they're doing a "cleanse," in which they're looking over both Google Places for Business listings and Google+ for Business pages and making "automated adjustments."
I've had multiple clients' business pages marked with this red banner, because Google generated and automatically verified a true duplicate of what it thought the page should look like, and then just pushed my listing out.
I hope this explanation helps make a bit more sense.

Hi Jackson,
Can you provide any more detail about what you were trying to correct and what, precisely you are seeing in your dashboard and in the SERPs? What you're describing isn't ringing a clear bell with me, but maybe if you could provide more details, it would. Thanks!

I'm sorry I don't completely understand this question. Do you mean Google+ business pages? Are they showing up duplicate in SERP's and both are verified? I'd like to help, but I'm not sure what the problem is.

Google Business listing algorithm when listing the top 3 locations in Google Search
Hi, awhile back I decided to make separate website contact pages by location and Google Business listings(some being just a service location with no address displaying) for Greenshield Pest Control Inc to help better target per city key term searches. Please refer to screenshot A http://puu.sh/qxWjH/6153c0edf2.png and B http://puu.sh/qxWfJ/bff7ad02cf.png. A) Searching "pest control belleville" brings up the Belleville Greenshield business listing in the top 3 as desired. B) Searching "pest control brockville" brings up the Kingston Greenshield listing in the top 3. While they do provide service for the Brockville location we don't have a dedicated Brockville service location and listing setup. I'm happy the Greenshield listing shows up in the search for case B but my question is does anyone know why Google decided for two out of the top 3 listings(Greenshield and Enviro Guard Plus Inc) to use a non-Brockville business listing? Kingston is 45mins away from Brockville and Harrowsmith about 1 hour away. Is there a certain distance range a Google business listing has to be for it to have a chance to be included in the search besides the actual city I'm searching for?

Do you need contact details (NAP) on every page of your website for local search ranking ?
We’ve got a clients site which doesn't have the contact details on every page, all the contact details are  on the /contact page which is using the schema.org local business markup Some sites that our outranking us locally have their contact details on all pages, where as others only have it on the contact page also. Is having your contact details on every page a ranking factor for local search ?

We are Heritage Printing & Graphics, serving 2 areas (DC & Charlotte, NC) with Commercial Printing (books, magazines, catalogs) and Event Signage (banners, backdrops, custom displays) Our current location in NC is 2739 Interstate St. and we will soon also occupy 2731 Interstate St. (next door) which we would like to promote as Heritage Custom Signs & Displays. Do you think this is a good idea as far as Google “My Business” map listing? Thx, Kevin Smith

Google Local Result- Competitor Ranks without an Address. Why is this happening?
My client is in a fairly competitive local market and there is a competitor who has ranked locally for around 2 years, but they have no actual address on their Google business listing. Â Just city and state. The listing is always top three and it does have their website listed, but directions aren't even available as there is actual no address. The listing is extremely keyword dense (basically spam but they actually created a business with the spam name). Citation Example: Â Keyword dense business name, phone number, city and state only Have you seen this? Â Can you explain why this is happening? Â Is this against the rules/anything I can do? Thanks!

Google My Business page no longer appearing with search results
Title pretty much says it all--my company's local Google+ page has always appeared under our listed website information up until very recently. I'm also noticing the same with our competitors. Has anyone else just began to experience this? Our NAP, map, photos, and review are still displayed to the right of the results, but nothing is linked to the actual Google page itself. Am I missing something? Thanks!

Multi-Location Listing Best Practices for Home Office, In-the-Field Positions, and Business Centers
Hi fellow Mozzers! Â Our marketing agency (based near SF) has partnered with 3 individuals in NYC, LA, and Seattle. Â I would like reflect our expansion on our site and local listings, but want to make sure we're on the up and up, since it's not a traditional brick-and-mortar expansion. Â Many people have used similar tactics in a black-hat way, so just want to make sure we don't get grouped in there. Â Is pursuing local listings in advisable in this case? In the Field/Home Offices - What is the best practice for listing a location in the field with home office - but no official B&M office? Business Centers - How does Google treat business centers where we have a part-time presence? Â (We legitimately use, can receive mail/phone calls, have an office share allocation, and host meetings in their boardroom.) Local Numbers and Addresses - Will a local phone number forwarding to our main HQ work? Â We'd prefer to filter all of our calls through our HQ since we have the infrastructure there. Other Considerations - Other than setting up our address and phone numbers on our site and major listings, is there anything else that should be top priority or concern? Thanks for your help here! Â Andrew

'People Also Searched for' appears on some but not all local businesses, why? (Google Local Knowledge Panel)
I have a client who does not want the 'People Also Searched for' section on the Google Local Knowledge Panel to appear. I informed her that this is a standard part of the search presentation and that we cannot change. She then pointed out that the 'People also searched for' does not appear on her competitors' Google Local Knowledge Panels. (See the attachment for comparison) This raises a couple of questions: Why are the local businesses different? Can I change the content of her panel? I would appreciate any feedback. google-local.jpg

Completely lost Google Local rankings for main keywords
Hi there, Our website, petmedicalcenter.com, used to rank very well in Google in the local section - usually within the top 3 spots for 8 or so keywords. Then last fall our rankings started to diminish. We would rank really well for a few days and then would be no where to be found in the local section - this cycle kept going for a few months. Now, within the last few weeks our website is nowhere to be found in local for our usual keywords. After a few years of success with SEO, I know the landscape is really starting to change. My problem is that I don't even know where to start to try and get us back on to the top spots. I know this question is rather broad, but I am really at a loss here. Any help is greatly appreciated!! http://www.petmedicalcenter.com Main Keywords: veterinarian las vegas, vets in las vegas, veterinarians las vegas, las vegas veterinarians, vet las vegas Thank you for your help!
