Optimising a page for multiple key phrases?

Is there a technique to optimising for multiple key phrases?
In the "old days", we'd have written doorway pages targeted at different key phrases, or just written a landing page for each key phrase. Now we're told that more is better and having all the info about a topic in one place will get you better SEO outcomes. But that means pages must be optimised for multiple key phrases.
For example, I currently have three pages that are related topically:
- Bangkok Skytrain (Guide to BTS and MRT Lines) - this page is a description of the metro train system in Bangkok and how to use it. Gets traffic from key phrases like "bangkok BTS line", "bangkok commuter trains", "BTS and MRT lines".
- Attractions near the Bangkok Skytrain - this page has a map for each major skytrain station and details of nearby attractions including hotels and restaurants. Gets traffic from phrases like "bangkok mrt and bts map", "bangkok rail link map", "how to get to siam on MRT" and "bangkok airport rail link map" (so mostly gets key phrases with "map" in them).
- Best shopping from the Bangkok Skytrain - this page talks about the shopping centres in easy walking distance of each skytrain station. Doesn't really get a lot of traffic and probably pulls that from the other two.
Ideally, I probably should combine all of these into one page now. But how to optimise for all those key phrases? Should I just optimise within each Heading 2 as I would within a page? Does that risk confusing the overall page SEO?

I agree with Travis & Moosa. You shouldn't try to target a page to more than one phrase. You will quickly run into keyword dilution (cannibalisation) where Google won't really know which page to rank for a particular phrase. The net result here is that generally, none of the pages will rank well, or perhaps only one of them.
Keep each page highly targeted, make good use of prominent internal links and ensure that the content on each page is well written to explain exactly what is on there.
Remember, there are billions of pages out there, millions of them all trying to compete for the same phrases - do everything you can to make yours the best it can possibly be, but try not to do everything (or anything) just for the search engines. Write and design your pages for maximum user experience.

Ok, if I would be at your place I probably will keep the 3 page separate and use the idea of internal link strategy as discussed by Travis in his comment. In my opinion the 3 topics are pretty close to each other but still pass different information. Combing all of them to make a single page might not be a very good idea!
I keep the simple rule here, ask yourself a question will your readers/customer be happy to see all the information at one page or on connected pages… whatever your answer is go for it! Job of the search engine at the end of the day is to display the best possible items to users so if your idea fits exactly what people are looking for then Google will choose you too!

Open the window and make love to the world, and you will catch a cold. In my opinion, you may be diluting what you already have. Perhaps it would be best to go with an internal linking strategy. "Hey, I'm related to page A and page B - but only in these ways."
Topically, it's all pretty close. It's all related to tourism and the mass transit system. But generally, it's best to keep a page to a limited theme. Since they are all related, it would seem best to link from page to page within the body.

Howdy Moz friends. I've just been checking out this post on Moz from 2011 and wanted to know how relevant it is today? I'm particularly interested in a number of links we have on our HP potentially harming important landing page rankings because not enough 'link juice is getting to them i.e) are they are being diluted by all the many other links on the page? (deeper pages, faqs, etc etc) It seems strange to me that as Google as has got more sophisticated this would still be that relevant (thus the reason for posting). Anyway, I thought I was definitely worth asking. If we can leverage more out of our on-page efforts then great 🙂

More Singular KW Targeted Landing Pages vs. Less Multiple KW Targeted Landing Pages
So my question is... I have a adopted a site which currently ranks quite well for some industry competitive keywords with a number of poor quality landing pages which specifically target a singular keyword. I am wondering if its worth merging some of these pages together into one authoritative, better quality landing page targeting multiple keywords (as the intent for some of these keywords are largely the same). What i don't want to do is jeopardise the existing rankings in doing so. The alternative option would just be to improve the content on the existing landing pages without merging. What are peoples thoughts on this? Are there any positive case studies out there where merging has had a positive effect? Any help would be great. Regards,

Too many on page links
Hello, I have a page that isn't ranking very well. http://nicontrols.com/uk/drives-motors/variable-speed-drives According to the MOZ research tools I have too many on page links. I believe most of these are a result of the advanced filtration options on the left hand side of the page. I don't want to remove the filters as they are extremely useful for customers but I am also worried about the number of links Anyone get any ideas about the number of links? Should I care?

Category listing page coming above product pages
A new SEO client we have taken on seem to be hitting most of the points right on with their site and SEO. However one thing that is bugging me is that their category pages i.e. "Footwear" which title tag includes the brands they stock. Is almost always coming up above (if they are ever even found) the product individual pages. Anyone seen this sort of things happening? Very frustrating.

Editing Author Pages
Hi, Quick question regarding author pages. I have the blog set as me for my author page. so the url is: mysite.com/blog/author/miles/ Now, seomoz has picked up that my author page is missing meta description. But, this cannot be editied through wordpress as there is no edit option available. I may really be missing something, but where can I alter the author page, I have a feeling it might be fed from G+ but no really sure what part of G+ is used as the description. Thanks Miles

On Page Optimisation Reports

Secondly sorry if the answer to this is blatently obvious! In the process of trying to optimise my landing pages, I am using On Page Optimisation reports. I have several (ok lots) with F grades which is not surprising as the landing page is not the landing page optimised for a certain keyword. If I change the landing page to the one that I have for a certain keyword then hey presto A or B grade (clever me)! Now here's the thing - presumably the landing page that is listed by default is the one that Google "sees" for a particular keyword. How do I change this if I can or do I have to be patient or am I just being plain daft?! Many thanks0 -
On Page Optimization Reports
How is it determined which terms and associated urls are chosen when SEOmoz tracks your On-Page Report Card? I'm receiving a lot of F Grades for terms I'm not really interested in and a lot of terms I'd like to be tracked aren't. Is there a way I can manually choose which terms and pages I'd like to be shown?
