Micro-site homepage not being indexed
-
http://www.reebok.com/en-US/reebokonehome/
This is a homepage for an instructor network micro-site on Reebok.com
The robots.txt file was excluding the /en-US/ directory, we've since removed that exclusion, and resubmitted this URL for indexing via Google Webmaster but we are still not seeing it in the index.
Any advice would be very helpful, we may be missing some blocking issue or perhaps we just need to wait longer?

Hi Thomas,
I think your problem is partially duplicate content:
This page is virtually identical to a bunch of others in international subfolders, e.g. http://www.reebok.com/sv-SE/reebokonehome/Landing-Page/, http://www.reebok.com/sv-SE/reebokonehome/ (same page but without /Landing-Page/, http://www.reebok.com/nl-nl/reebokonehome/, etc.
It's highly unlikely that Google sees any of these resources as highly valuable on their own, given their duplicated many times. The solution here is pretty simple (in theory) though: the rel="alternative" tag (also referred to as the href lang tag) is meant for the purpose of telling Google that although these pages / subfolders, etc. are duplicates of each other, Version A is meant for the US, Version B for Sweden, Version C for Finland, etc. You can also create, for example, an English and Spanish version of the content for the United States and say: "these two pages are for a US audience but this one is for Spanish queries and this one for English."
Here are some resources about the tag:
https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/189077?hl=en
http://moz.com/blog/using-the-correct-hreflang-tag-a-new-generator-tool
Essentially, Google may be refusing to pick this page up because it's basically already seen it many, many times.
Cheers,
Jane

Thank you, we will investigate the 30k characters piece and see if its just a function of time for now. Any other ideas/issues that may be causing it to still not show up in the index?

Sometimes when you are excluding something and then open it up the search engines can take a while to forget the exclusion.
I would hit it with a link from the root homepage. With your site that should put some spiders into it.
I don't know if this would cause a problem, but I think that this site might hold the world record for the size of a hidden input string.... about 30,000 characters.

Can adding thousands of new indexable URLs to my site at once be a problem?
Hi everyone, I am currently working on a project that will quickly add thousands of new indexable URLs to my site. For context, the site currently has over a million indexable pages. Is there any danger of adding a few thousand URLs at once to the site? Could it potentially affect crawlability/SEO/other pages? Thank you!

Ranking subpage for main keyword instead of homepage – somehow I feel like our homepage is penalized
Hello guys, I hope this question isn't too broad – but I run out of ideas and I feel like there is some technical issue with our site which sees us penalized: Search: German Google

Website: www.elementspure-hotel.de
Keyword: Hotel Bremen Right now we're ranking between 40 and 50 with the subpage /zimmer. a lot of sites with lesser DA scores and a lot more SEO Issues are ranked higher. The homepage is optimized for hotel bremen, yet /zimmer page ranks first, which I just don't understand
(Page Authority is much higher, Keyword density)
– I've run the site through a lot of tools and there aren't any severe issues Search Console doesn't say anything in regards to errors My suggestions which I can't confirm:
– There are some redirection issues (http/https/www/nonww/)
– Backlink issues (a lot of backlinks are from www.elements-pure.de)
– Over optimization penalties? Tank you! Magnus0 -
Canonical homepage link uses trailing slash while default homepage uses no trailing slash, will this be an issue?
Hello, 1st off, let me explain my client in this case uses BigCommerce, and I don't have access to the backend like most other situations. So I have to rely on BG to handle certain issues. I'm curious if there is much of a difference using domain.com/ as the canonical url while BG currently is redirecting our domain to domain.com. I've been using domain.com/ consistently for the last 6 months, and since we switches stores on Friday, this issue has popped up and has me a bit worried that we'll loose somehow via link juice or overall indexing since this could confuse crawlers. Now some say that the domain url is fine using / or not, as per - https://moz.com/community/q/trailing-slash-and-rel-canonical But I also wanted to see what you all felt about this. What says you?

HTML Site for Speed
I have a few small sites and landing pages on Wordpress that I want to load a lot quicker than they do. It occurred to me that if there is not a lot of content management necessary, I should simply make the static web pages straight html instead of trying all the modifications necessary to get some Wordpress sites and themes to load quicker. I have noticed the html sites I have load lighting fast on slow hosting service. Is this a good idea, can anyone think of drawbacks to it? Security? Responsiveness? SEO? And what about taking some company's sites with blog straight html so the home page loads quick, and then using Wordpress for the blog?

What is the best way to find missing alt tags on my site (site wide - not page by page)?
I am looking to find all the missing alt tags on my site at once. I have a FF extension that use to do it page by page, but my site is huge and that will take forever. Thanks!!

Redirecting a old aged site to a new exact match site?
Hi All, I have a question. I have 2 sites with me in the same sector and want some help. site 1 is a old site started back in 2003 and has some amount of links to it and has a pr 3 with some good links to it but doesn't rank much for any keywords for the timing. site 2 is a aged domain but newly developed with unique content and has a good amount of exact match with a .com version. so will there be any benefit by redirecting site 1 to site 2 to get the seo benefits and a start for link bulding? or is it best to develop and work on each site? the sector is health insurance. Thanks

Site indexing and traffic increased so dramatically overnight
Number of indexed pages jumped from 39000 to 52000 and traffic increased around 50% in my site.Note: used "site" command to check the indexed pages. I understand this is approximate. In addition, number of crawled pages/day also increased dramatically. No change in the robots.txt, sitemap, crawl errors and duplicate issues. But server migrated to different IT infrastructure. Before any celebration, want to identify the helper. Thanks.
