It should be. A 3XX redirection tells search engines that the location of a page has moved. So, if you properly redirected all pages on http://website.com to http://www.website.com, then a page like http://website.com/widgets will no longer exist. It will be located at http://www.website.com/widgets. Since the old page will no longer "exist," then it will no longer rank for anything and not appear in search results.
Does that help?

Alexa Rank
Ok, I have a pretty good Alexa Ranking of 159K and have been online for less than a year. What my question is why is my Alexa Ranking so much better than all of my competitors who get way more traffic and have been online for years. The only thing that seems to be going slow is my page rank is still barely .98, while competitors are higher although they have lower Alexa Rank. What am I doing right to get good Alexa Rank?? What can I do to rais my PR and Domain Rank? Competitors for example

SEO ranking question
Hey, If a site for had a series of articles, and had the privilege of guest posting on several sites, such as mashable, entrepreuner.com, inc.com, and a few other not as big sites. and let us also say that this site is new and currently has pagerank of 0. How would the above benefit the site and the visibility of the articles on google? Also, with guest-posting, is it problematic to have the exact article also on your site? thanks in advance!

How to check Google Keyword rankings?
Hey, So I recently watched the DuckDuckGo commercial about Google's results bubble. My question is how can you get the actual keyword rankings of relevant key phrases without Google taking your locations and search history into account? Would it just be a case of clearing your cache & history from the beginning of time or is there an accurate tool (other than SEOmoz ofc that I can use? Best regards, Dan

301 for dummies
Hi all, I am familiar with the 301 redirect, but never actually got my hands dirty in this regard. I have a client who owns two stores in two different regions, but under the same brand name. They currently have two websites, for each store, the domain name dictating the region they are in. What they want to do now is create a 3rd domain, have it serve as a landing page to re-direct traffic to the existing regional domains. The question is, is this landing and re-directing good practice? Remember that each store has an online shopping cart, so running one domain servicing two stores/regions is not ideal. The last question is, they want to convert the existing/longest standing domain name into the landing page, and do a 301 re-direct to a brand new domain name.... I'd love to hear your comments and views on this one. Thanx Gary

Twitter as a website's #2 ranked linked page?
A site I'm researching on open-site explorer has a #2 link with page authority of 52 and Domain authority of 97, and that link is the site's twitter page. No other sites I've researched have had their twitter page show up in it's link rankings like this, can someone explain?

Alt image or allow /image in robot.txt
Howdy, Me and my co-workers had a discussion at lunch time. We wonder if we should allow /image in our robot.txt. We arent sure what rank best. Image whit keyword in it or simply had a Alt at each image and hide the /image in the robot.txt... or have a allow /image AND a alt source. P.S. At this point, we didnt work on any sitemap or link it anywhere. Ty.

Multiple links from Dmoz/Google directories worldwide
I came across www.soundandvision.com and did a Link Analysis on them.... http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/www.soundandvision.com/a!links I noticed that the top links they have are from Google directories or Google IP's. How has this happened? I am listed in Dmoz in the UK does this mean I have automatically appeared around the world. Dmoz is pretty strict about rejecting links how can a company be listed so much? Is this a good practise? Cheers
