Html to wordpress

I have an html site and most of my pages are ranking well. I want to switch to wordpress but i am afraid that i will loose ranking on my inner pages. Any thoughts? And should i do a redirect or use a html plugin

We just went through this exact process with a website. We agonized over whether to do the move since the .html pages were ranking and converting well. In the end the client wanted it so we decided to make the switch, this is what we did:
1.) Took all well ranking .html pages and 301 to their new version in apache .htaccess file, example code
Redirect 301 domain-name/old-page.html domain-name/new-page/
2.) Installed the SEO plugin by Yoast and made sure to tune all title/meta info for each page
3.) Made the change and stayed patient. We saw a traffic drop for 9 days following the move. Then on the 10th day we got close to pre-move levels, and 2 full weeks later we were back at pre-move levels with improved average site time, bounce rate and conversions.
*we are almost 2 months into the move now and traffic is higher than ever.

I would personally just move the actual html over (yes, can be done) and redesign the page to look like the wordpress one if the page is really important. If it's just semi important, not ranking number 1 for thousands of searches, then ill just 301 it over to the new page on wordpress. Either way, I'll make sure internal linking is optimised.

Why redirect? I mean if you have an HTML site and you want to move towards WordPress, you can simply move there and make sure the URL structure and URLs remains the same.
In case of redirection 301 from old URLs to new URLs (if you are doing this) it will impact your rankings to an extent as 301redirection does lose a bit of link juice.
Hope this helps!

HTML Improvements is not updated
Hi, I am using Google Webmaster to check 'HTML Improvements' errors and found that I have many Duplicate meta descriptions errors. I think that they occurred because I have change some **old URLs **to **new URLs **and then use redirect 301. This lead meta description of **old URLs **duplicate with meta description of new URLs. For example: old URL: www.abc.com/this-is-a-url--1.html and new URL: www.abc.com/this-is-a-url.html. And then use redirect 301 from www.abc.com/this-is-a-url--1.html to www.abc.com/this-is-a-url.html Who did face this problem? Please help me how to fix this? Thanks

Pages indexed but not seen in wordpress
Hi there, the crawler of SEOMOZ has detected that some pages have no title or a short metadescription. The problem is that I can't see these pages in wordpress (in the backend). These pages are irrelevant and must be deleted but I can't find them. How could they be indexed by the Googlebot? Where can I find them? Any hint? Thanks all.

Too many on page links in sitemap.html
My crawl report is flagging an issue with too many links to one of my pages, this page is my sitemap.html. However, I have coded the page so that if required is specified it generates an .xml version of the page and if not then the html version is displayed. What is the best way to stop the crawl finding the html version whilst maintaining it on the site for clients navigation?

Wordpress Title Element tag too long?
So apparently when I add the name of the blog within Wordpress, the name of the blog shows up after the the main title of each blog post and page. So trying to keep the title element >70 characters, how does one name the Wordpress blog as mine is/was: Lake Tahoe wedding photographer / Heidi Huber Photography and keep that only on the intro page and leave each page of the blog and the titles of the blog posts to not have "Lake Tahoe wedding photographer added to the end of the Title Element? Anyone have any idea? I also had gone in at one point and updated every single Title on each page/post using Yoast's SEO and the SEOMOZ crawl is still coming up with over 216 caution errors for the title page. Thank you so much for any advice! Heidi

Is it ok to point internal links to index.html home page rather than full www
I thought I saw this somewhere on SEOmoz before but I was so busy by the time I got around to work on my SEO on my site, I realized I have this happening and can't recall if it is a problem which takes away from my ranking. If my www.website.com is ranking well but I have internal menu links pointing to www.website.com/index.html instead of www.website.com will that take away from my www.website.com rankings? Should I change all my menu links that point to /index.html to the full website url path www.website.com ?

Fixing Wordpress Title and Description Tag Placement
I know how important the title and description tag are and I know it is important to have them place at the top of the code. However, when I view the source on a Wordpress template, I see it looks messy. Here is an example of what the source looks like. Is there a plugin or an adjustment to be made so the code is cleaner? To get rid of spaces and blank lines in code. Or should I just not worry about the way the code looks? Notice the first example has a break after the <title>, then after the title there is this</p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"><strong><em><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> </em></strong></p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"><strong><em> </em></strong>then the description? Can that be moved?</p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"> </p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"></span><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><br /></span><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" dir="ltr" lang="en-US"></span><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><br /></span><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><span> </span><head profile="http://gmpg.org/xfn/11"></span><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><br /></span><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><span> </span><title></span><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><br /></span><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><span> </span>tite text goes here <span> </span></title> " /> Here there are no breaks after <title>and the <title> is directly above the description</p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"> </p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"></span></p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"> </span><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" dir="ltr" lang="en-US"></span></p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><head profile="http://gmpg.org/xfn/11"></span></p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /></span></p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><title>tite text goes here</title>
