SEO for new product at the market
-
Hi everyone,
Imagine you are a book store owner and there is a new book which is going to be released next month. What would you do to rank for queries such as:
- And the Mountains Echoed
- And the Mountains Echoed book
Of course, this book has been already released but think as it not.
Thanks.

It's likely that your competition is going to be a mix of large book sellers, online outlets, the author's or publishing house's pages or sites, review sites (after the book is released - and this can include major newspapers and magazines). You can get a good idea of who these are actually going to be by looking at the author and publishing house and searching for books they've published in the past. What do those SERPs look like?
Getting in first with a landing page on a good website is a good piece of the battle, so definitely create your pages about the book early. If there are press releases or interest from readers in the lead-up to the release, your site should be one of the only resources ranking early if you get in before the big retailers and newspapers. Amazon is particularly strong for some book queries, but Google would ideally prefer to rank diverse websites (not three or four Amazon URLs on the first page, which I have seen happen for book names).

Backlinks!
Kidding aside, I would start with understanding the power of your domain vs the current competition.
If your domain authority is quite good vs the current competition, then internal linking and great on-page content will help you rank for those terms and it's variations easily.
If the competition is much more advanced in terms of SEO, then I would launch different campaigns to link back to that page in advanced. For example, an infographic (a great one) detailing and "preselling the plot" somehow. I would then market that and you'll get a lot of good links to your landing page.
Ill also make sure that landing page is quite unique and it can also be a cause for people to link to it.

Backlinks from The Sun, New Yor Post, etc...
Hello there, Some of my competitors have backlinks from very well-known newspaper websites like New York Post or The Sun. And it is really obvious that their backlinks are paid ones. On these news websites, they don't talk about ghost writing stuff or "partnership" for backlinks. They only write about banner advertising. So I was wondering how they can get a backlink from them.

Do some writers sell those backlinks somewhere else, under the table? Are they in contact with SEO agencies who paid them and if this is the case, does their "manager" know it? or does the company directly have partnerships with SEO agencies? Basically, how to get a backlink from the NY Post or The Sun ? Thanks0 -

Challenge: How to SEO a site with almost no content
Wondering what you all would recommend for SEO on this site: www.gudville.com Most of their content is behind a login. Basically there are 5 pages open to Google and to anyone without that login, and they are not open to doing it differently at this time. Once in, there will be a lot of sharing with Facebook friends that will include invitations to join them in their causes. Love to hear all your recommendations. Kathy

Could I be the victim of negative SEO?
While I was searching for bad links to one of my website, I realized that there were lots of backlinks from trackbacks on various blogs. Most of these trackback links are definitely spammy as they are not relevant with the blog topics and they use exact anchor text. The thing is that I am 300% sure that it has nothing to do with any SEO campaign services I've bought in the past. They link back to pages I've never optimized at all. So could I be the victim of a negative SEO campaign? What do you think?

Link Building for a New Blog
We are setting up a new blog and I was wondering what is the best way to build good quality links for a new website? I have been researching this quite a bit on the forums and a lot of people talk about writing good content which I agree with however no one will find that content if we are not ranking in Google for our keywords. From what I have read the following is what I should be doing Directory's Creating Link-bait (Info-graphics) PR Releases or Getting News Sites to link to us I have heard a lot of mention of using Articles sites like ezinearticles but I have also read that Post Panda that they dont have as much link juice as they once had and also I don't think that for a Blog that we should be using it as well but maybe I am wrong? Would appreciate some peoples suggestions

I read an SEO article that recommended getting backlinks from social bookmarking sites like diggo.com. Does anyone have any thoughts on the usefulness of these types of links?

Surprised what the Market Samurai guys are suggesting.
Hi all, I wanted to bring this up for discussion as I must admit after seeing so many mixed opinions on this and after what I've just watched tonight I am back on the fence and confused as to what I think. If you are not aware, Â the guys at NobleSamurai have just launched a new short video campaign based on what they refer to as 18 months of interviews with expert SEO's in order to give people like me, an individual, an insight into how the pro firms are performing SEO today. They're on the second video in the series, which has covered article syndication and link-building. Now I know we don't get the same credit these from article directories like Ezine that we used to BUT what NobleSamurai are claiming is that article creation, and syndication is still the BEST method to obtain back links in quantity. Â What's worse, and more surprising to me is that they are totally encouraging article spinning. Â Although they do say manually review each article before submitting, the numbers of spun articles they are hinting at are way too high in order to manually review each version. So with that in mind, I'm very curious as to what you guys think about what NobleSamurai have just started announcing. As I said I'm very much on the fence, Â but with regards to my current projects, Â Do you agree or disagree with this approach to content creation and syndication. 1. Find an article topic worthy of writing 2. Go ahead and create it for the purpose of hosting it on my site. 3. Â Use a spinning tool to create only 3 or 4 other versions(not 1000's!!!) taking care that it still makes perfect grammatical sense however, just using different synonyms and maybe changing paragraph structure a little. 4. Upload the 3 or 4 new versions to different article sites, Ezine etc, of course including links to a. the source article on my site, and b. my sites homepage. Looking forward to hearing what others think. Dave
