How to deal with number swaps for organic results?
-
Hi mozzers,
We used to have a proxy URL for our paid search campaigns and we just transferred all of that into the main domain(that ranks organically). Since we were using phone numbers swapping for paid search, I am afraid that it will harm our organic local results as I am seeing phone number swapping.
Can the bots distinguish a swap number and a real phone number or will it impact our local SEO results( because of an inconsistent phone number)?
Thanks for letting me know!

Nope, you're good to go. Ifbyphone is a good service. I agree with Spencer, you should be good to go as long as the javascript is working correctly.
-
You need to look at the actual render of the webpage and see what number it's rendering.
I believe that getgoaliath.com script that it is blocking is the number swapping javascript so I would imagine that you should be fine.
I've never used if by phone but I've heard good things. I think you're most likely good to go.

Hi Jasmine
Didn't create it on my own, paid search team did it. The call tracking service is if by phone. Should i use another service or we're good.
Thanks

Hi Spencer,
thanks for your answer, I did a fetch and render and here are the result

I am not sure if the swap is made via an image or text. It may be text. Do you think based on the result I'm good.
FYI: We are using call tracker called **if by phone **
Thanks!

Hey Taysir,
Which call tracking service are you using for this? Or did you create one yourself? Ideally, you would be using javascript to change the number dynamically depending on source & medium, which will not interfere with local.

I would say that it most likely won't have any negative effect but the best practice is to only use call swapping via an images for local seo.
If you're curious you can see what phone number google-bot sees by using the new fetch and render option in webmaster tools under crawl.
If you want to use call tracking via changing text on the page I would suggest setting it up to only swap out numbers for paid searchers. I don't know if this is a standard option for most call tracking providers but I use CallRail and I know that they allow you to set it up that way.

Why do Local "5 pack" results vary between showing Google+, Google+ and website address
I had a client ask me a good question. When they pull up a search result they show up at the top but only with a link to their G+ page. Other competitors show their web address and G+ page. Why are these results different in the same search group? Is there a way to ensure the web address shows up?

Google Cookies - Organic vs PPC visitors
I am not a developer - I am researching this for our team, so please, be gentle... I am also not quite sure how to ask this question. We want to serve up custom pages for visitors from Google organic. We aren't doing anything underhanded - the pages will have very small differences that will not affect our rankings and won't land us in Google jail. When a Google visitor hits one of our pages, what specific piece of data are we looking for to determine: a. It's a Google visitor b. He/she came from organic results. I need to tell our developers to look for something that triggers the custom page. It's the same data that Google Analytics uses to trigger the appropriate visitor type. Please pardon my naivete.

Multiple Results On First Page
Hi Guys, First question here, after splitting our content across 2 subdomains (~6 months ago) we've noticed google showing several of our pages on page 1. Would it be better to somehow consolidate to just one page (in the hopes that together it would push the rank higher or is it better left to google to work out on its own? I've attached an example of this happening with one of our targeted keywords. HwEARxd

Almost no organic traffic
Hi, We have an online store, it is up & running since January 1st. Since then we really didn't see any improvements on our organic traffic at all. About 10% of our traffic is coming from organic search, and more than 20% of organic search actually coming from branded keywords. We haven't paid a lot of attention to SEO so far. I mean, we paid attention to the practices, however we focused on a better customer/user experience more than SEO. We improved our product pages, reduced checkout process to one step, used bigger icons / buttons. According to our customers, our website is pretty easy to navigate and shop. We haven't received any major complaint so far. Except couple of products, all the content we have is original, we didn't use any manufacturer product content or copied from another website. However, looks like all these efforts don't mean a lot to Google, unless we have a solid backlinks. Currently i am considering to make category pages NOINDEX and implement microdata from schema.org. However, Is it good idea to make category pages NOINDEX for an ecommerce website? I would like to hear your comments/recommendations what else we can do to create some organic traffic.

Dynamic numbers in meta title - can it harm SEO?
We are creating an online shop with thousands of products. And i want to put total product number in index title, each day/week it will increase. This would be interesting for visitors to see. But would be it be good for SEO? For example title: "Brand - Buy Toys Online, We Have More Than 10659".

Google fluctuates its result on Chrome's private browsing
I have seen an interesting Google behaviour this morning. As usual, I would open Chrome's private browsing to see how a keyword is ranking. This was what I see... Typed in "sell my car", I see Auto Trader page on 3rd. (Ref:Sell My Car 1st result img) Googled something else, then re-Googled "sell my car" and saw that our page went to 2nd! I repeated the same process and saw that we went from 3rd to 2nd again. Has Google results gone mental? PaGXJ.png

Duplicate Content issue on pages with Authority and decent SERP results
Hi, I'm not sure what the best thing to do here is. I've got quite a few duplicate page errors in my campaign. I must admit the pages were originally built just to rank a keyword variation. e.g. Main page keyword is [Widget in City] the "duplicate" page is [Black Widget in City] I guess the normal route to deal with duplicate pages is to add a canonical tag and do a 304 redirect yea? Well these pages have some page Authority and are ranking quite well for their exact keywords, what do I do?
