Backlink Tool Finding Links That Aren't Visible
-
I'm using a variety of backlink toolsl; OSE, SEM Rush, Link Research Tools and Google Webmaster Tools.
On some occasions the tools are telling me there is a link to my site on a certain page, however when I open that page I can't see any mention of my company.
I have run all these reports today, so I think it is unlikely that Google is using old data.
Does anyone know why this happens and if I should still be concerned about links that I cannot see but backlink tools are telling me are there?
Thanks guys.

Have you tried using ahrefs.com? It seems to update its index on a daily or almost daily basis, which is much faster than OSE and GWT.

It doesn't really matter when you run the reports, the bots/spiders are crawling and refreshing their index on set timeframes. When you "run a report" you're doing just that, you're getting a report of the last crawl from that particular bot.
So for example, OSE's last refresh was on **May 21, 2014 **and it's next isn't til June 18th.
That being said, none of them are going to be perfect and complete also.
When you say "unlikely that Google is using old data" it makes me think you're focusing on the GWT backlink analysis which is arguably the weakest of those mentioned.
All of those things combined should explain why you are seeing things that may not be there. Hope that helps.

Domain Authority and Links drastically decreased in less than a month
I'm fairly new to SEO, and am left completely perplexed about why our two SEO client's links and DA decreased so drastically in so little time. Looking at their stats on Moz, between May and June, their DA's went down by 3-5 (which, they were fairly low to begin with), and external links were halved! This is rather concerning to me as building their external links has been my focus for the past few months for both of them. There are a number of tweaks that I could make to site structure in terms of meta descriptions and page title length (though I can't fix that as the clients want to keep the titles as is), however there are no critical errors. I have also placed a lot of filters on both of their Google Analytics pages as they were getting what I just now realized was a ton of spam, though I don't see how that would affect anything. I just can't imagine what lead to all of those external link suddenly dropping. I imagine the drastic drop in those lead to the DA decrease, but again, I'm very new, so I'm not certain. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I have been panicking quite a bit since I've seen this!

Google Webmaster Tools During GA Transition?
I'm working with a client that is launching a new website. Google Webmaster Tools can just be disconnected, then reconnected to the new Google Analytics property, correct? Without any data loss in Webmaster Tools? Thanks! Becky

What's the new "Value" column in GWT about?
I was checking out our GWT this morning and noticed a new column on the far right that was labeled "Value". Currently, there isn't anything of value (no pun intended) listed just $Nan. Anyone else see this or know what it might be? 014pThY

Deciphering Facebook backlinks
I monitor our web traffic in real time using Woopra. I often make on-the-fly decisions about which AliveChat window to activate based on the backlink. The FB backlinks are encoded with something like http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http://www.mydomain.com/&h=PAQFRib7D Is it possible to see which FB page that link originated? Best,
