Does anyone know how to find functions/codes/etc in WordPress?
-
Right now, I'm working on solving a relatively easy WP issue (easy, because someone told me what to do. Thanks iNetSeo). I have to replace:
<span class="post_date"></span class="post_date"> and replace it with <span class="post_date date="" updated"=""></span class="post_date> But, I can't find the "_<span class="post_date">"</span class="post_date">_For a number of my WP problems, the hardest part is just located the code/function/markup I need to replace. Does anyone know where this might usually be stored on a website? Also, does anyone know if there's any tool that would allowed to just put "various function" in a search box, and wordpress take you to where it was on the backend of your site, so you could edit it?
I included a screenshot of our editors, but I already opened them all, pasted the code in Ctrl-F to no avail, but maybe I missed something.
Thanks for helping with my frustrating scavenger hunt!

Turned out to be under functions.php under entry-date.
Thanks everyone!

Turns out it was under entry-date, just not a file I had looked at.
Thanks so much!

Hi Dave,
Not in index, nor single, but thanks especially for pointing out single. I wouldn't have thought to look there. We don't have an archive for some reason.
Thanks for the suggestions!

I'm actually trying to fix a bunch of the structured data errors I have from GWT. I have a ton of them, and they all have to do with this one piece of code. Apparently, it's a common WP problem. I will try to find those files now. Thanks!

P.S. I also checked my functions.php via someone else's suggestions, but I didn't see it there either.
-
I'm guessing you are doing this to add data to a snippet?
I would check these three places. Most WP themes have them here:
index.php (main Blog Page)
single.php (single Post Page)
archive.php (archive Page) -
To no avail, but thank you. Excellent idea! I actually just realized I don't even have
-
I assume this has to be in the Single Post Php file somewhere, so I'm just going to post that to see if there's some synonym for entry date or post date that, I"m not seeing:
get_header();
setup_postdata($post);
get_sidebar();
?>get_template_part( 'loop', 'single' );
?>Kemp & Ruge Law Group
$off=1;
query_posts('cat=5&orderby=DATE&order=ASC');
while(have_posts()):the_post();
?>$off++;
endwhile;
wp_reset_query();
?>query_posts('p=109');
while(have_posts()) :the_post();
the_content();
endwhile;
wp_reset_query();
?> -
Try searching for <span class="entry-date">in your single-post.php file and see if that turns up what you are looking for.</span class="entry-date">

2 or more wordpress installs on 1 domain
Hi ....I need to know if anyone has any concerns of running 2 or more WordPress installs on one domain and if so what would the concerns be. The situation is that we have a static html site that has a WordPress blog....and it is installed in example.com/blog/ . We will upgrade the static site to WordPress and this WordPress install will be in example.com/monkeys/ and then we will point its address to the root and make all other needed changes when ready to go live...but the install will stay in its own directory. So bottom-line is we have one domain with two WordPress installs that are each installed in their own sub directory and run from their own independent databases. There are quite a number of reasons for us to want to do this but I wont get into that......I just want to know if anyone has any concerns with this setup? The research we have done says its OK as well as our hosting provider....but before we get cracking we thought maybe one more "educated" input would make us feel more comfortable. Thanks

Wordpress shortcode or plugin for current time
In the footer of my WP site at http://www.strikemodels.com/, I have "Questions? Call us at xxx-xxx-xxxx 10:00 am to 8:00 pm Pacific time or email [address]" I've searched, but haven't easily found a shortcode where I can insert the current time for my time zone in this footer statement. Does anyone know if such a thing exists? The Do Not Disturb function on the iPhone has been a big help, but we've still had calls at three in the morning from someone in Australia on New Year's Day who didn't know how to look up time differences online.

Blog.yoursite.com or yoursite.com/blog/?
Rand made the following post in 2009. In July of 2013 I question whether this is still best practice. Obviously, much has changed in our industry in four-and-a-half years! "...if you're seeking to maximize your ranking ability for a given piece of content, it's my personal belief that you should, most of the time, keep it on 1 subdomain under 1 root domain (but feel free to use subfolders as it makes sense). Starting a blog? I almost always recommend yoursite.com/blog over blog.yoursite.com. Want to launch a new section of content? Use yoursite.com/newstuff rather than newstuff.yoursite.com." Is anyone here managing or doing SEO for a site using GoECart?
We are preparing to update/migrate to a new ecommerce platform. We are in the process of choosing right now. One of the things we know we want is faceted navigation, but I am well aware of the problems this presents for SEO. Are any of you amazing people here using, managing or have experience with GoECart? I am interested to know your feedback, particularly from an SEO viewpoint. Thanks in advance! Dana

Finding a good wordpress web developer for SEO fixes
I have gotten a good audit done of my site now it is time to get the fixes done. I have a developer I worked with for a long time that is good at coding and fixes on my site. However I am not confident in his abilities to execute some of the seo changes that need to be done. Their are some common stuff he can tackle but when it comes to GWT and proper handling of 404's and 301's and other seo tasks I am not sure if he is the right choice.Maybe due to a lack of experience of dealing with the issues I have or is just not his specialty or web devs just don't know seo...lol.... Is obvious a lot of SEO's don't make the changes themselves but leave it up to the devs to handle it their suggestions and fixes. But from my experience devs are not so well versed in seo and you have a hard time knowing if they are doing it correct or can even do it.(of course they will say they can they want your cash and i understand that ). In particular a good amount of wordpress devs claim to know seo but i find that far from the truth.Even when guided to issues some of them will often leave you disappointed. Sorry for my rant! Now to my question , obviously not many SEO's make the actual code changes themselves (how i wish i knew a one that did) are their ones out their that do? If not how do i find a good wordpress dev that can make proper seo changes and knows his stuff....example i need someone who can trouble shoot and track down some serious GWT I have and deal with some hardcore 404 & 301 issues . A lot claim to know but when push comes to shove I have been left disappointed. Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions or recommendations.

Coding breadcrumbs manually
I have a super static site - whats the best way to hardcode (manually if possible) the breadcrumbs i.e. the correct mark up etc? Not got a super large site (about 60 pages) and find people land on deep pages and seem to bounce outta there, working on things to turn this around etc but would like to add breadcrumbs as I think some people would probably go up a level in our site to find what they are looking for.
