.com vs. .us for the same company in the US?
-
How does google react when there is a .com and a .us in the same geographic area as with the United States? Wouldn't google prefer the .com over the.us? Even with different content on the site, I would think google would choose one over the other. Would you have to use a 301 redirect or would just geotargeting do it?
I'm not interested in using both just to use them, there is discussion between a US corporation and it's US region.

Amway,
Your question needs quite a bit of clarification. Google's geo preference works a bit differently than just .com vs. .us for the same /similar content.
So, if you use a .US outside of the US you are stating you want to target US customers. A .com is not country specific so it won't necessarily exclude any region, but if you are outside the US, with server outside the US and with no geo targeting input, and your customer is in the US, I would use a .US.
A .com is generally better for the US than a .us for the US customer, but for a different reason than Google.
If a US customer sees .US for one result and a similar result (different site) with .com, I believe that 8 times out of 10 they will take the .com because they are more comfortable with it.I hope that helps.
Remember, if you are using the same or very similar content, be very careful with canonicalization, etc. when trying to use both.Best,
Robert

Unsolved How to concat moz.com
Hello,
Moz Pro | | GrzegorzZ
I wanted to contact moz.com. I started my 30 day trial to test service.
After 2-3 days totally forgot about it. I remembered about moz.com when i received invoice saying they're gonna charge me.
I immediately wrote email to them that I do not want this service. I forgot and only put credit card data because i was required to. And would like a refund since it was 2-3 hours after bill. Unfortunately sending messages via their contact form is not an option. There is no confirmation on my email they received message nor return message from them.0 -
I see some links on Youtube.com that look like they are "Do-follow" links am I wrong?
Hi, I have some videos on YouTube.com and I notice many of the links show as "Do-Follow" per the Moz Bar. I have a feeling they are not actually "Dofollow" links because they never show up in Moz Pro, SemRush or any of my other tools. Can some of you people with greater knowledge of YouTube please clarify why the links look like "Do Follow". I am specifically thinking of my own backlinks on the videos and also the links in the "Comments". Best Regards, Bill Dalessi

Potential spam websites with high DA linking back to us
Hey everybody, I'm going through all my sites and disavowing crap links. However, I'm having trouble distinguishing which high DA sites to disavow. What would you do? For example:
Moz Pro | | MEllsworth
https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/spam-analysis?site=busca.starmedia.com&target=domain&source=subdomain&page=1&sort=spam_score and https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/spam-analysis?site=cc879fe.activerain.com&target=domain&source=subdomain&page=1&sort=spam_score They both have tons of backlinks - both good and crap. The first has a DA of 72 and a Moz spam score of 4/17 and the second has a DA of 86 and a Moz spam score of 9/171 -
How to deal with fake review posted on ripoffreport.com by a competitor.
In 2010 we launched a product update (physical product) that was really good for us in sales and we were taking a lot of business from our main competitor. To stop the bleeding they posted a fake ripoffreport (completely made up pretending to be a former employee, we are a family business and employ few people with almost no turn over in the last 10 years). They also posted fake reviews on Google's local product at the time for any store that used to use their product but that had switched to ours. We were able to get google to remove the fake reviews as there was no way one user visited over 100 stores and purchased the same service on the same day in all these locations around the US. But they would do nothing about delisting the report page without a court order. So the fake google reviews went away, but the ripoffreport has become immortal. The reviews were originally posted anonymously and then commented on by another anonymous user. These same two anonymous users then filed ripoffreports against a couple of our mutual customers as well. Since they are anonymous we cannot sue anyone to get them to remove it, since it is passed the statutes of limitations we cannot do a john doe law suit to get a judgment by default. So the report is there to stay. We have worked to get more content up about us, we have great product reviews on facebook and other outlets that have sold and spotlighted our products, and we are partnering with industry specific bloggers and traditional media content sites to get links and reviews (all white hat stuff, great public relations stuff), but we cannot get our interior pages, facebook pages, or the other reviews to rank higher than this report when searching for our brand name and even worse when you search for our "brand name reviews" it is the first result on google. Can anyone help me understand how I can use MOZ to help me identify how to outrank this page with interior pages so that it falls off the front page of google? Sorry if that is a newbie question but I have done a lot of things and it has worked some but not as much as I need it to. And it seems that in the last few weeks the report has become stronger in the rankings again. Any suggestions you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Proportion of branded keywords vs targeted keywords in anchor text distribution
Hello, I have a question about the proportion (in %) of branded keywords vs targeted keywords in the anchor text distribution of a website. Suppose if I have a website with 3 targeted keywords and 2 branded keywords in the anchor text distribution that looks like this: 1 main targeted keyword 20% 2 targeted keyword 15 % 3 targeted keyword 15 % 4 branded keyword 10 % 5 branded keyword 5 % 6 more keywords 35% The question is: What would be the best distribution in percentages to aim for the main and other keywords? Should the branded keyword % increase and (main) targeted decrease? Or something else? (I have "Opensite Explorer" and Cognitive SEO" as tools to measure.) Thank you for your answers!
